I feel like a lot of stuff would be easier to accomplish were we not stuck with phpBB. I've seen automatic post counts per day as well. A lot is possible, were simply not doing it as we don't have the coders required or due to the limitations the sites current medium imposes."i agree we should have a rule against wgeurts" -Davsto

It is possible to eliminate the added loads on mods for a lot of stuff, and it has been done before."i agree we should have a rule against wgeurts" -Davsto

If you think phpBB limitations are preventing us from accomplishing what we'd like, then how should that be addressed? In post 475, wgeurts wrote:I feel like a lot of stuff would be easier to accomplish were we not stuck with phpBB.STRANGERCOUG: Stranger Than You!

I'm far from capable of renewing the site, but I know things have been briefly discussed behind the scenes without much being made into possible plans. In post 477, StrangerCoug wrote:

Could also direct ICs and SEs in the newbies to lead by example and keep their posting under control. In post 3, zoraster wrote:Player Directed Solutions
These are solutions that rely on our player base to educate others and try to change our meta that way. This can be done hand-in-hand with the listmod/admin team as we can help organize things and post educational posts, but ultimately these solutions don’t rely on any true top-down imposed things.
It can be as simple as each individual player realizing that they need to chill out and not post so much, consolidate their posts, etc. to linking over-posters to threads like this one and try to discuss with them why they’re hurting mafiascum as a whole.
Or it can involve simply refusing to play with over-posters until they agree to moderate their ways.- Titus

We should bring back policy lynches for anyone who tries to say "you suck", throws out an insult, or generally berates others. Once we do this, we can policy lynch players who spam. Then it fixes itself.ShowThe scum had the misfortune of Titus being absurdly accurate on day one.Really quite impressed by that.~Drixx

Just update the Vi-Battery to something like:
Every 10th post a player makes per game day decreases battery by 1% (10, 20, 30, 40, etc)
Every 25th post a player makes per game day decreases battery by 2% (25, 50, etc)
Every 50th post a player makes per game day decreases battery by 5% (50, 100, etc)
So 64 posts is: 6% for 10th rule, 4% for 25th rule, 5% for 50th rule for 15% of battery gone due to that player
The problem with spam posting is that it basically makes the game impossible for people who are unable to contribute many hours per day the ability to play if they actually want to follow along closely. Its the only reason I really have stopped playing. Its not a situation where its "this type of play isn't fun" (even though that is also true) its that "I physically don't have the time to read 15 pages of spam a day". I am fully behind mods having the ability to limit this type of posting in some way, because the current site meta drives out people who only have a few hour pocket of time from actually playing as unlike things like known caustic players or hydras, there is no way to be able to avoid spam posters with any sort of reliance.- Alisae

Things like automated queues haven't happened primarily because it's like pulling teeth to get anyone to have a conversation about how it should be implemented. In post 475, wgeurts wrote:I feel like a lot of stuff would be easier to accomplish were we not stuck with phpBB. If we come up with tangible solutions for throttling, I don't think it'll be very difficult to make it happen. I agree with Ether that any solution that isn't automated will likely fail.- TesXX

I think this page shows what happens in a lot of games: people get off topic. It's not necessarily a bad thing because this is a social game and you want people to be social.
Take the above Titus/RC/Human posts above. They were off topic, but they posted it to be social and bonded over it. I realize there is a flip side to this where someone can read those same posts and develop negative social feelings towards those people, but I think that is their problem and not the sites problem.
It's a little annoying to have to read through 50+ pages when only 1 RL day has elapsed, sure! HOWEVER, and I may be the only one, I'm ok with the amount of posts that are being posted.- Papa Zito

Actually, Fro99er was force-replaced because he learned a player's alignment through no fault of his own.

tbh I would rather read 5 pages of 1 liners than 1 page of walls. I find it much easier to read the thread when posts are smaller even if there are slightly more- TwoFace
