Nice, thanks for the tip! Do you accept pre-ins, or can you bump this when you go into sign-ups?

Thing is I can post less if I actually care to so if I end up in a game with someone who wants a not-spammy game just tell me.
I learned this in T-Bone's recently finished Large Theme. In the beginning I kept my post count reduced. I actually made a full catchup instead of my typical "respond to one post at a time" catchup at one point.

This is a shit thread for multiple reasons, even more than the fact it's encouraging mass numbers to avoid certain people

So you're saying it's bad for people that don't want a certain kind of play to avoid said kind of play?
If anything that's good as that should lower the ammount of people getting fed up or overwhelmed by a game.

If anything that's good as that should lower the ammount of people getting fed up or overwhelmed by a game.

That's a separate point. My point: There should not be a group of players that globally blacklist people. It alienates them and is a form of bullying. It's not complicated. It's bad for site reputation as well.

In response to the bolded: YES. I think it's also shit for people to try and only play with a certain type of player. It hurts diversity and barrs the obtention of new knowledge.

Knowledge such as different ways people play, new tactics, etc.

It restricts the ability for you to grow as a player.

Mulch, I don't think you get this thread or the complaints some of us have.
Mulch wrote:it's encouraging mass numbers to avoid certain people
If certain people are making the game unenjoyable for mass numbers, shouldn't they be avoided? (And I don't even think we're talking about mass numbers, it's only somewhere around a dozen people who have indicated, either in the original thread or this one, their inability to keep up with hyperposting. This thread is for those dozen people.)
Mulch wrote:There should not be a group of players that globally blacklist people. It alienates them and is a form of bullying. It's not complicated. It's bad for site reputation as well.
It's unfortunate that this is taken as bullying, when the intention is for everyone to be able to play in an enjoyable way. Some playstyles are incompatible with others, and that cannot be changed - what can be done, however, is for people to avoid signups with conflicting playstyles. I don't want to call out or stigmatize anyone, but I don't see a solution for avoiding a specific playstyle without naming the players implementing it.

If it wasn't complicated, there wouldn't have been a 22 page thread about the issue. As for site reputation, well, I'm not sure how the hyperposting epidemic impacts it, but I doubt this hurts it any more.
Mulch wrote:In response to the bolded: YES. I think it's also shit for people to try and only play with a certain type of player.
This is where I struggle not to let a "fuck you" go. I do not only want to play with a single type of player. That is a complete misunderstanding. I just want to avoid a single type of playstyle that is making me incapable of keeping up with the game.

Also, if your answer to the complaints against hyperposting is "suck it up," then either you are not listening, or you're incapable of empathizing, or you don't understand the strain it puts on the game through lagging player slots, or on the replacement queue through people who give up the game of constant catch-up. Whichever the case, fuck you : )

Gamma Emerald has been struck from the list in accordance with post 28. Thanks for the willingness to slow down :]

Titus has been added on Gamma's recommendation.

Mulch has been added based on a quick review of Large Normal 205 (124 pages, Night 1), where he far surpasses Transcend and LUV, themselves prominent Kids These Days, to be the undisputed top poster.

I feel like Korts isn't trying to put down hyper active players
(though I can easily understand how people can view it that way)
as much as he is trying to avoid certain players, so that he can actually participate in a game without feeling swamped due to time availability. That being said, this topic feels better suited for a more private conversation between like minded individuals vs. a public thread. That's just me though. The talk/hints/jokes between old site meta and new site meta/player jargon I think is also playing a role in way some people are misconceiving Korts's wants and needs.

--

Having been in a single game that was over-run with hyper active players, I get it. And I'm a decently active player myself I like to think.

--

Truthfully I think the best solution for Korts is to either A: Find someone willing to do a invitation game with known non spammish players
(on site or off site)
B: join games with post limitations when they come up
(yes there are some games with set post limitations as a mechanic)
Or C: join games when he has more time to devote to the game. Otherwise you're just joining games in the hopes that it doesn't have a hyperactive player, or one doesn't replace in. avoidance can work, but there is little guarantee they still won't join your games. You are also only looking at known players. You're not accounting for newer players or lesser known players that can fit the bill that you're trying to avoid as well.

Good luck in your search for happyness.

I would love to try some slower paced games.

Espeaslly once next semester starts, and I start getting over loaded with projects. It would be nice to not be scared of perpetual catch-up.

Forget about that, look at Large 203. I had 1700 posts when most had around 600
