Try doing it on a tablet (like I used to do for the first year and a half that I was on the site...)In post 123, Nero Cain wrote:In post 112, Ircher wrote:

It has come to my attention that some of you still do vote counts in non-descending order. This is ugly, hard to read and lazy. Please correct this error at your earliest convenience. To those mods that already correctly use descending order in vote counts, I applaud you and think you guys are the best people on this site.
Love,

Then tell me that you can do it in 3 seconds... On a computer, fair enough -- but then there's tradition.- Ginngie

I can't afford a tablet so I guess I'm the one that's pwned.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I've modded multiple games on a tablet including a large theme. A computer is by no means a requirement. In post 127, Ginngie wrote:If you don't mod on a computer then dont- Ginngie

Who needs votecounts, man, eh? Let the players snowball the votecount on top of the posts containing the vote, alright? They only need to quote the previous one, strike out their previous vote, -1 the number of votes on the player they were voting, add their name to the back of the wagon on the player they are voting, hmm? and +1 the number of votes on that player, you know?
Twould be great if everyone'd hyperlink the vote of the previous voter, so that the votecount can look something like this, man.

I have the same worry about mod interference but I take it in the other direction. Whether you like it or not, a moderator constantly makes judgement calls on when they should post vote counts. Do I need to do it before this episode I'm watching, or can I do it after? Is the game so active I need to sneak one in at work? "Prompt" is a subjective call and I know everyone's alignment, so there's always the worry my subconscious is pulling for one side vs the other. That's the reason I include vote count "ghosts", which a lot of people don't like. It's impossible for my vote count spacing to fail to include a vote - every single vote cast will be represented in my vote counts, even if that vote was only valid in the space between vote counts. (I do only count the last vote in aIn post 89, Nexus wrote:

My job as moderator is to ensure that the VCs are prompt, accurate and as unobtrusive as possible. My job as moderator is to ensure that the first post is up to date, the second post has rules, the third post has the game start and that is it.
Anything else is excessive, unnecessary, and is more mod intervention than necessary.post, obviously.)
So yes, my vote counts can look pretty busy:
But notice here that between vote counts, TellTaleHeart moved her vote from mastin2 (who it was on last vote count) to DeasVail, and then to Aronis. If I don't have ghosts, then whether that DeasVail vote is officially documented in a VC comes down to when I happen to take the VC. The timing in which I take VCs is up to my personal discretion, and subconsciously I know who has what alignment, so I'd rather not have that vector to influence the game."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. Don’t buy a head of lettuce if you just want a salad. Don’t buy eggs and lettuce if you want egg salad because those are not the right ingredients." -Julius Bloop- Nexus

I just give people the kind of vc I would want/expect as a player.
I'd like to know what the votes are currently at.
Vla prods and replacements are cool to include to save on unnecessary mod posts.
Agree that putting votes in chronological order should go without saying.
Also weirdly enough I kinda have caught myself gaming the timing of vc posts before, not with any real sort of weight put into it but it does sorta make you think all the same.
Like if there's a quick flashwagon and then somebody is all like "hammer hammer hammer" then mod posts a votecount, sort of an extreme example but you get what I'm saying. Which is why mods who post more vcs are not only good in my book but also can keep those kind of thoughts from players at bay. Having an auto-page topper vc thingy is the ultimate neutral but I think that I like having that human touch to modding and games I play in.- mastina

This is what I do but what I want as a player is ridiculous, so I never ever would expect any sane mod to do what I do. (I specifically said to nancy/Jae when they backed my two games up "YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO DO IT". They did anyway. )In post 140, grapes wrote:I just give people the kind of vc I would want as a player. - mastina
