Alt-slipping

Can someone explain alt-slips to me?

Like, using a computer you use a different browser.

Pros:Clicks button and don't have to log in
Visible difference to tell you're on the right account to post
Cons: Nothing

Phone: use a private tab instead of regular tab for a visible difference
Pros: Quick tap and you're on the right account
Cons: Nothing

and just like, in a game.

How do you not go to your subscriptions/or ego search

and bloody realize

you can't find the thread

so you go find it on your main, and then write a post.

It just baffles me.

I use different browser apps on my laptop, tablet and phone for hydra accounts, as well as different ms styles, and (mostly) only access games via the bookmarks tab in the appropriate browser/account. If I slip once, I'll keep slipping because many of the barriers to slipping have been breached.

I don't slip very often anymore.

I usually have the thread bookmarked on my main so that I'll notice if something happened in the thread. I know that doing this increases the risk of altslipping but it also increases the chance that I'll respond to stuff in a timely manner. Also sometimes I'll check out a thread in one browser that isn't my main because I want to preserve #unread but I want to know what's happening, too. I don't slip very much though, I try to pay attention to what I'm doing when I'm doing it, thinking consciously "I'm logged in on the wrong account right now" before opening the thread and that helps me not slip.

1. You're writing a post as an account.
2. You stop midway.
3. You open another tab and log into another account.
4. You post with that account.
5. You return to writing that post.
6. You post it.

Though, I never alt-slipped.

I don't use ego search or bookmarks, I manually navigate using the forum index.

I keep all my games and PTs, regardless of account, bookmarked on my main.

tbh a lot of the times I notice that I'm on my alt/hydra, but I'm midway through the post so I just hit submit anyway.

Wrote a chrome-extension to prevent this.

how to use:
download
unzip
drag-drop folder into chrome-extensions window.

game-threads should now show a checkbox instead of a reply-form.
Check the box to allow currently-logged user to post in the thread.
