Lol. I think the biggest things are just stressing the accuracy of your reads and having people misreading you when you feel it's clear how wrong they are. I hate when people are reading me based on activity levels when it's real life stopping me from posting too. Scum games are usually less stressful except the fake activity tell.In post 15, Ectomancer wrote:

Ugh that's the worst. Dedicate so much to the game and being completely right but no one will listen. In post 16, mastina wrote:

In honor of it having been nearly 5 years since my reply in this thread I thought I would give a better answer to this question. In post 25, Zachrulez wrote:

How stressful the game is to you really depends on if you are more into the journey or the destination/outcome. It can be really easy to get too invested in results and that part can be really stressful. (I'm not trying to say the results don't matter but they also aren't everything. You don't even always have direct control over the outcome.) If you can reflect back on how fun the journey was, you can take away a lot of positive even from a loss. I still go back and read some of my losses because I can just remember the thoughts and feelings I had in those games fondly.- mastina

In recent times I've literally became feverish when getting into (quite LITERAL) heated debates in my games.
As in, genuinely: skin becoming hot to the touch. Burning up. Literally sick. From the stress, intensity, hyperfixation, obsession, and often, anger.
Not a fun time.
Is why I'm largely taking an extended break from playing under the mastina banner, because I can't do that every game and yet it's happening every game--even the games that I swore it wouldn't happen in. (Still hydra'ing tho and will play on request/invite. Just, won't be signing up for a solo-mastina run any time soon. It's not worth it. It's really, really just...not.)- Gamma Emerald

Used to cost me a lot just because I'd overcommit. Now I'm sticking to a one game at a time rule, and it's much better.2023 W/L | 1-0- T3

I get so stressed when I play mafia it's insane. I try and only let myself play in the holidays/less busy uni times because otherwise I would just boom. And even then I frequently get anxiety/panic attacks (idk the difference but there's a lot of tensing up and hyperventilating) when I'm in a game playing out worst case scenarios in my head. Part of the fun of mafia is just how invested I get, and it makes the highs feel really high, but yea I've gotta find a way to mange how much stress I get playing forum mafia it's nuts.- OopsieDaisy

What's interesting tho is that I don't get nearly as stressed in irl mafia. I'm guessing because irl mafia you're there for tops 2 hours and then it's just water under the bridge, whereas forum games last weeks so I'm sat there going to bed/waking up with the current game I'm in always on my mind.In post 38, OopsieDaisy wrote: I get so stressed when I play mafia it's insane. The last time I played was my first game in months and it completely dominated my headspace. Not so much stress from actually playing the game, but I just couldn't stop thinking about the game even when away from it and it was causing me to make mistakes at work.- T3

When I roll scum it's always like that for me. When I roll town I spend my 30-45 minutes looking at the thread per day and then I forget about the game for 24 hours until I check the thread again but when I roll scum I constantly think about the game.In post 43, Alchemist21 wrote: The last time I played was my first game in months and it completely dominated my headspace. Mafia doesn't really stress me out unless I roll scum. I feel very bad when i lose as scum. Also Final 3 scenarios cause i choke them every time, it's like a reoccurring nightmare.- kuribo

Quite a bit of stress but kinda in a good way since the worst that can happen is to lose a game. Not sure how to phrase this but sometimes I like stress when I know I can deal with it lol"Upwards atp would have to be really good as scum to be fooling me, I think." ~ Gamma Emerald
