Team Mafia 2018 Mods Needed

2017 didn't work out for Team Mafia, but I'm going to try to do Team Mafia 2018 EITHER starting mid-January OR summer of 2018 (I am without internet for most of May so I need it to either finish before or start after May). My big hope is to get this out so we can start January 15th or so, but I'll need help!

Right now I'm looking for moderators. Tentatively, right now here is the structure I am imagining:

1 - 18 player game with every team
3 - 12 player games (every team plays 2 out of 3 of these).
2 - Concurrently running Blitz Micro games (possibly deadlines will be a bit longer than the 72 hours but certainly less than a week each. Need to time this out). Each team will play 3 of these games. Once the first game for both has ceased, the players will be shuffled and the second game will be run, etc. until 3 games have been run. I think this should time out to about the same time period as the other games.


Ideally I'll get 6 strong moderators to help run this, though I can get by with just 5 if I run one. I need both moderators who are simply good at running games as well as those who want to design a setup from the ground up.

Going to make selections for mods fairly shortly in hopes of getting to that January date. If you're interested, please let me know! In particular, people with experience and desire to run micro blitz games should contact me.

For players starting to think about it, we're considering a slightly different system for teams. So if you're starting to line up teammates, teams will likely be 3 players large this time with the potential to "draft" a 4th (though this may not be required). Early days in planning, but wanted people to have a heads up so that teams don't form and then have to have hard discussions about who to cut.

What does this mean?
Will the fourth "drafted" person be different than the other three somehow? If we can prepare 4 should we be or will the fourth also potentially have a lesser role in the actual event.

3 players will be assured. A fourth may not be, depending on how we structure that. Essentially the idea is going to be you MUST have at least 3, you MAY have 4. The fourth may be added via a draft function of sorts. Any player on a team may play in any individual micro game but must complete the entire game. You could have one of your players play Micro 1, another Micro 2 and another Micro 3 if you wanted. You could use a fourth for all the micro games, none or some portion of them.

Does draft function mean like a pool of free agents teams can pick from and not someone the other 3 prepped with in advance?

correct. we don't have all the details, and I haven't selected all the mods and some may wish to do it differently. But the idea would be that both players and teams that want a 4th can rank as many people as they want (perhaps with a minimum number required) and they'd be matched.

Keep in mind we're talking about 18 teams here, so even with 3 players that's 54 players, which is a lot to get.

Just a note to everyone who applied: I'm pushing this to Fall. There just wasn't a way I could get it up and running in time to avoid my hard stop in May (when I'm out for 2.5 weeks without internet). I want to thank everyone who applied. I'll make sure to get in touch in the summer so the mod team can put together something without having to rush it this much.
