except that site history suggests that isnt true, because back in the day when we did not have hyper posting town win rates were much higher. you can claim that this is true for whatever reason, but the balance of evidence suggests that aeronauts original post is correct and yours is wishful thinking.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner- Ellibereth

We could also start a rating system for each alignment.
Using something like msoft's true skill.
Can x10 or x100 it to make the numbers prettier.
Everyone starts at same amount now and after every game just take avg rating of each team before game with the result and do + teamratingchange/teamsize to everyone.
and just not count multiball and bastard and 3p games and stuff like that for simplicity.
I'm also too lazy to do this (mhmsmith0).
edit: actually if we're compiling stats from the last year might as well count the last year in the above too...Last edited by Ellibereth on Wed Jan 10, 2018 6:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.FLASH OF GREEN- Firebringer

And how does my arguments not make sense?
And how am I using think of children type arguments? I don’t believe I did so once.Show"You are the Joker of mafia players" - Oversoul

I think there's been talk in the nrg about how they've had to buff towns to keep the winrate even. Don't quote me though. In post 226, Ellibereth wrote:Did i miss a post in the zor thread or somewhere else that actually showed that town winrates now are actually so drastically sucky compared to the past.- RadiantCowbells

I am the reviewer for those types of games, so I can only speak as one.In post 232, Alisae wrote:

Ideal town power is 3-4 roles of moderate strength, no more yet also no less. Nowadays many moderators prefer to have more roles. When they insist on stronger scum, then that necessitates a fair degree of extra strength in the town roles (we aren't going to tell them they can't have three scum roles even if we recommend against it, we just have to balance around said roles), but sometimes it's the other way around with many moderators preferring to have stronger towns and thus we have to take our best guess as to what level of scum power is appropriate for the level of town strength they desire.
We're still likely to reject an 8-PR game, but we passed the rather role-heavy (albeit mostly named townie) Blessed Mafia when we got it as close as we could while respecting Assemblerotws's wishes. (He wanted the PR-heavy game with most of them as essentially named townies on both sides, so we worked with him as best we could to get it to be within standards yet still meeting his basic vision.)
Personally, I actuallydon'tthink we've changed the balance standards too much in reviews. We've just had many moderators who have pushed the envelope in terms of extremes. Extreme scum strength, extreme town strength, and very few who naturally on their own hit that "sweet spot", so we have to as reviewers take our best guess at approximating what the sweet spot would be.
Basically, no, reviewers aren't REALLY making setups be significantly more townsided--at least, not on our own. We may lean that way, however, especially when we see the basic mold the moderator has given us for the game. (In that if it's impossible to accurately gauge balance, we'll err on the side of possibly-townsided rather than possibly-scumsided more often than not.)- Thestatusquo
