I was a pt cop with an investigative result on a Mason and almost got lynched for doing this.

Recently i finished a game as scum where i knew i was guiltied coming into the day but the cop didn't want to out. The cop was widely scumread but rather than trying to push for his lynch i went for someone else's lynch, with the reasoning being that there was the chance that he wouldn't out his guilty today and then the next day (which would've been lylo) the guilty would've been less believable.
As it happened the cop outed the guilty on me when it seemed like i wouldn't be lynched without it and everyone switched from scumreading him to me. i didn't last long after that.
Minimize info the day phase offers on your way out if you know your dead to a guilty.
Otherwise you can try and gambit but that is really game specific.

NO.
Claim a guilty on them first.
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.

Lacking full context but a guilty on a mason sounds like a bastard game.
If you were withholding an innocent result there's basically no value in doing a gambit on that like there is with a guilty on scum. Withholding an innocent result only risks getting that inno lynched.

Well in the case of a full cop there is information to be gained from the gambit I described. As a PT cop you might not even have the right information necessarily. The fact that the role can end up outing masons is certainly not a good thing.
I wonder if any mod has used the role without having town qt roles?

Or you can tell your scumbuddies to bus you before the guilty is out, bus your scumbuddies back, and then when you think the guilty might be coming, claim scum in-thread publicly, troll the game, and ruin the cop's credibility by making it look like they're your scumbuddy gambitting.
Depends on the scum player you have a guilty on. If you know they have a reputation for weaseling out of softclaims (or hardclaims) then claim with your guilty ASAP. And I say that as someone who has repeatedly talked my way out of guilties.
If you softclaim it, a decent scum player will absolutely pick up on it, and you'll die, your information will die with you, and people may not connect the dots.
