look, I'm going to level with you: the only reason I included a poll in this thread was so I could have one of the choices be "xyzzy", but now that I'm facing that possibility, it all just seems rather self-serving. like then I'm just basically asking people to not engage with the poll in any meaningful way because instead they can just give the meme answer. idk why I'm so uptight about this. it's just, like, there's a lot of choices and it's hard. please don't select this answer. that'll just encourage me to do it again

Marathons are traditionally held 2-->3 (originally two, now three) times a year.

Traditionally I seem to recall marathons during the Christmas season and during the 4th of July weekend, with a third being added for some other (relatively minor) holiday (Memorial Day?).
