DoTA Mafia Reborn



For those who were here during 2016, the name of DoTA Mafia is familiar. The biggest semi-open game with a unique implementation - picking phase and level up system. A very complicated game of mafia based on DoTA flavor.

And here it's grand return...

I proudly present the DoTA Mafia Reborn.

General Setup


DoTA Mafia will start 10+ players. The number of players must be even. The currently suggested setup is 10 players (2 Mafias - 8 Towns) but other setups are practicable.

Your Alignment/Factions will determine your win conditions just like any other mafia game:

:right: Town: Eliminate all Mafia and whoever can't win with Town or to make sure nothing can prevent that.
:right: Mafia: Eliminate all not town that can't win with you and have equal or more players than all other teams combined.
:right: Evil 3p: Eliminate every other player in the game.
:right: Survivor: Live till the endgame of game where another faction is getting victorious or you're the last standing player of the game.

:!: Town can't win with any mafia faction or Evil 3p. Mafia factions can't win together. Mafia factions can't win with any Evil 3p. The survivor can win with every other faction but Evil 3p.


Each Mafia faction has it's own discussion thread that will be open in nights and during the picking phase (Not day phases). Evil 3ps won't get a factional chat.

Regardless of your alignment, half of you will be part of the Radiant clan while the other half will be in the Dire clan. (Clans are also called teams - should not be confused with alignment/faction). Each clan has their own discussion Thread as well which is open in days and nights and during the picking phase.

The game has no killing flavors or hidden mechanics.

Heroes and The Picking Phase


Players will have one hero for the game (their flavor). Each hero has 4 abilities. You must assign the first three abilities as a reward for leveling up. First, you must pick your original skill for level 1, Second, you must pick the ability that you want as a reward for level 2. Finally, you must pick the ability that you want as a reward for level 4. The fourth ability is called Ultimate ability and can be only won for leveling up to level 6 (for some heroes this number might be different). Whenever someone is leveled up I will announce it to them and I will remind them what abilities they can spark (if any).

Your hero also has 1 of the following primary traits (The Icon is in the graphical role pm, just next to the hero's name):

Image Strength [Passive]VOTE: : It takes 1 extra vote to lynch you.
Image Agility [Passive][Effect Block(Blocking)]: One shot Blocking Immunity Per cycle. Agility counts as an Effect Block that will stop first role block, target block, vote block or action block in each cycle on you.*
Image Intelligence [Passive][Ability Modifier]: without this primary attribute, each player starts at level 1, but intelligence heroes level 2. Additionally, each trait of intelligence will increase the number of abilities one can cast in each cycle by one. (originally it's one ability per cycle for each player).

In addition to abilities and the primary attributes, The heroes that can learn a talent at levels 10, 15, 20 and 25. In each of these specific levels, heroes will be able to learn one of the two talents available to their heroes. Some of these talents will make the original abilities stronger, while some others will have other effects. The talent trees are unique and different for each hero.

Each player will pick a hero, but the picking method is based on majority vote. Players choose their picking method when they sign up. These methods are:

Spoiler: Picking Methods
1 - All pick: A random hidden priority list will be generated at the start. Everyone may send the heroes they want to play in order. Mod will start from the first person in the priority list to the last one, assigning the first available heroes they requested (or assigning a random hero if all of them are already taken). There will be a balance check, although it won't be guaranteed.

2 - All Random: Each player receives a random hero. There won't be any balance checks.

3 - Single Draft: Each player then will receive 3 heroes with the different primary attributes. They must discard 2 heroes and pick 1 to pick. The discarded heroes will be announced but who discard what will not be revealed. There won't be any balance checks.

4 - Random Draft: At start 30 heroes (for a 10 player game) or 60 heroes (for a 20 player game) will be announced randomly. (Generally 3x than the number of players) All other heroes are banned automatically. The rest is like All Pick mode. There will be a balance check, although it won't be guaranteed.


All the picking Phases will long 24 hours so everyone has a chance. If someone fails to submit their pick a random available hero will be assigned to them in their turn. After the picking phase end, Host will send all chosen heroes to all players.

Generally speaking 3x heroes than the number of players should be available in the draft. If the game is larger than the number of heroes available, all heroes can be used twice.

When you pick your hero, you're aware of your alignment and your clan. Some heroes might work differently based on alignment and clans.

In all of the picking modes besides the single draft and all random, players may request for a random pick. If they do so they will start the game with an extra level. Note that this won't be in effect if the host is forced to give players a random hero because they didn't submit anything.

There are some mechanics regarding the picking phase which are:

Spoiler: Re-picking
Players may Re-pick their hero during day 1 if the method was All Random and if and only if they didn't level up their heroes yet. In that case, another random hero will be picked. All the previously picked heroes will be announced in-game as banned at the start of night 1.

As a penalty for re-picking, the re-picked hero will start the game with -1 level. (minimum is 0)


Spoiler: Swapping
Mafia members will be informed of their members pick after the picking phase end. They may Swap their picked heroes during day 1. For that one must message the mod, the mod will message the other mafia and will wait for their confirmation. if the other mafia confirms this action, their heroes will be swapped with no penalty (All the picked levels if any will transfer as well). If the other mafia rejects, the mod will notify the requester. One can only request for a swap only once during the game. After a swap, the two involved players cant re-pick or swap their heroes again for the rest of the game.


Game Phases and Voting


The game has 3 phases: Day, Twilight and Night which will last 11 days/1 day/2 days. Regardless of the heroes in the game, all 3 phases will happen in order. When someone is lynched, the game will go to 24 hours twilight regardless of the existing heroes in the game.

A day phase might end earlier with a majority lynch. In case a majority lynch doesn't happen the player with the most votes will be lynched. In case of a tie the player who got the most votes earlier will be lynched. If that is applicable to more than one player, the one who has the most unique players involved in their lynch will die. If that is applicable to more than one player a random player will be lynched. If a player needs more votes to get lynched because of a modifier, these extra votes will be subtracted from the final vote count before determining the players with maximum votes. There might be abilities that will change how these voting mechanics are functioning.

The votes which are casted by abilities are not treated like the main vote by default and will stay on the target even if the caster dies (for example if enchantress dies and an impetus is already on its way, it will still put down the effect.) unless if the ability is specified as a bounding ability. The votes that are caused by abilities that are making the normal votes stronger are obviously excluded from this effect (such effects and voted will disappear when the voter dies).

During Day and twilight phases, Main chat is open for discussion. The lynched player is allowed to post during twilight phase but won't be able to use any abilities unless if its specified otherwise in the role pm.

MiLo (Town must Lynch right or might lose before next day phase) and LyLo (Town must Lynch right or will loose immediately) are announced publicly. During a MiLo/LyLo cycle, no ability can affect the Votes (Vote modifiers/Vote Blockers), Put on extra or fewer votes, makes any effect in wagons or the vote count. Also, No day-killing ability will work. Some abilities might have some related restrictions as well that are explained in the role PMs.

Abilities


Normally during each cycle (day+twilight+night of the same number), you can only execute 1 non-passive skill. You don't need to execute passive abilities. Passive abilities are either auto trigger or always in effect abilities.

Each Mafia faction will have a factional kill as well, which is counting like other night-active skills with 1 cycle cool down. They need to choose someone to execute the kill for the faction.

Each mafia faction is allowed to use one killing action per night. that can be the "Factional Kill" ability or any other ability that is classified as a killing action. (Reminder that some of the killing actions might need preparation. Mafia is allowed to perform this preparation with their factional kill but the actual killing must happen in another night phase with no other killing action)

For casting any kind of day-active abilities you may call them in the main thread or message me through pm unless it's restricted for your specific ability. Day actions will be resolved in order of their timestamps. Twilight/Night actions will be resolved by DNAR [To be added] at the end of the phases.

All abilities have a cooldown which will determine when they can be used again when one uses them. For example, if you use an ability during night 2 and it has a 2 cycle cooldown you will be able to use it at the start of day 4 again.

Everyone will receive a report about their abilities, skill level, and cooldowns at the start of each day phase. You can also ask about it anytime you want though.

There are abilities in the game that can restrict a player from participating in a chat (Chat Block) or to give them new ways of communication (Neighbouring).

Leveling Up


Heroes level up if they are participating in a lynch on the opposing clan or killing someone from opposing clan.

Also, each clan can give farm points to other members of the clan to allow them to level up. During each day phase or twilight, players can vote for another person in their clan to let them farm. Each player has 3 farming votes in each day phase originally that they can't take back(unvote) after giving them out. Players can't vote for themselves. If someone doesn't use a farming point, they will just forfeit it. Each player with 7 farm point will trade that to level up. Note that these votes must be done in the clan chat.

Attention: Do remember that despite leveling up is an advantage, your main objective is to lynch mafia (as town), survive (as the survivor) or kill everyone (as mafia or third parties) and You must play to your win condition over everything else.


Clan Abilities


These abilities can be activated for each clan once during the game. To activate it, All of the living players in a clan must vote for it in the clan chat. Please make sure that you unvote your vote for activating these abilities if you no longer want them, cause these votes won't reset at the start of each day phase.

Image Scan [Passive][Inspecting]: Once during the game, If all the current living players of a team vote to activate the scan, a public result in clan chat will be posted mentioning if any living player of clan were visited last night or not (won't expose the visitors names).

Crystal Nova [d & n][1c]: Delay all the actions casted by a single player for a full cycle.

Frostbite [n][1c]: Block the targeted player actions that night. Won't block the factional kill and redirecting abilities.

The effect of Arcane Area removes if Crystal maiden dies (Bounding).

When Freezing Field is activated in night n, all abilities will effect in night n+1 and everyone will be blocked during cycle n+1 (meaning their last night abilities will work but they can't cast new abilities during the day, twilight or night).

If she dies the effect of Freezing Field will end. she can't cast any other abilities when Freezing Field is in effect. (Channeling)

If crystal maiden dies after during the day right the night she casted freezing field, the mass role block won't affect and the delayed actions will still work.

Reincarnation

Bounty Hunter [Agility]


Shuriken Toss [n][1c]: Hurl a deadly shuriken at a player, role blocking them. If that player targets someone you are tracking, the shuriken will bounce to them as well.

Jinada [p]: If Bounty Hunter kills anyone or be last one voting, they will steal all the farm votes target has.

Shadow Walk [n][3c]: Bounty hunter turns invisible, and can't be detected for the first action he performs afterward.

Track
[n][2c]: Track a hero, granting information on who they target for the rest of the game. If the target dies while tracked all your clan will have their cooldowns reset (Not applying to track itself). If the tracked person doesn’t visit anyone in a night phase, the track
effect will be removed.

NotesIn case of a loop of bouncing of Shuriken Toss, the loop will end when all the players are successfully role blocked if they can get role blocked.

Using Jinada Bounty hunter can steal all the available farm points his target has.

Shadow Walk will add "Ninja" modifier to the next action Bounty hunter is committing. In case of doing multi actions in same night/twilight, only the first action in DNAR will get the modifier.

Track effect won't go away if Bounty hunter dies.

Track effect is counted as a passive Auto trigger ability on the person it's casted on.
The track can report all targeting active abilities in case visit goes throw. (means if the person is not target blocked or role blocked)

Poison Touch: Vote Blocker
Shallow Grave: Janiting, Revive
Shadow Wave: Healing
Weave: Effect Block(Heal and Effect Block(Kill)), Cooldown Reseter

Dazzle [Intelligence]


Poison Touch [d][2c]: Your target will lose any extra main votes if they have any, for the rest of the day.

Shallow Grave [t][8c]: Revive a recently lynched person at the start of next day phase. They won’t flip at the end of the twilight phase and are considered dead for all purposes during the night.

Shadow Wave [n][2c]: Heal the target from 1 kill attempts that night. The Shadow Wave has 50% chance to bounce to another player each time.

Weave
[n][2c]: Remove all Heals and Kill effect blockers from the opposing clan. If you cast Shallow Grave on a person from your clan in next twilight phase, the cooldown of Shallow Grave will reset immediately.


LevelTalent Tree
25Shallow Grave'd person won't die and revive - They will just stay alive.Shallow Grave cool down reduces to 4 cycles.
20Get one point of Strength.Get one point of Agility.
15Poison Touch cooldown reduces to 1.Shadow Wave bounch chance increases to 70%.

NotesPoison Touch removes all extra votes that are attached to someone's main vote immediately.

Poison Touch effect will last till the end of the day (they won't be able to get extra votes attached to the main vote).

Shallow Grave is usable in twilight phase on a recently lynched person. They will die at the end of twilight and will be considered dead for all purposes during the night phase. they will come back to the game at the start of next phase.

Shadow Wave has a 50% chance to heal another random (who has not being healed with Shadow Wave already) person as well every time it heals someone. With a VERY lucky Shadow Wave, dazzle can heal all the living players.

Weave has 2 effects:
- On opposing clan: It disables all heals and Kill effect blockers, meaning it will ensure the kills to go through.
- On Dazzle clan: If dazzle uses Shallow wave on any member of his clan next cycle, his Shallow wave cooldown will reset
But It's not usable again in same twilight phase
.


Notifications and FeedbacksWhen Poison Touch hit a target, the target will receive the following:

Player A targeted B during the day. B targeted C. If luna target A with only "Moon glaive" C will have Luna's vote on. If she has Lunar Blessing as well A and B will have her vote as well. something like :

Dragon Slave [n][2c]: Lina channels the breath of a dragon, sending out a wave of fire that will put an invisible vote on her target if no on else is targeting them that night.

NotesIf Dragon Slave affects a slot successfully, they will start the next day phase with 1 extra invisible vote on them, shown as "?" in the mod confirmed VC.
Dragon Slave effect is not Bounding and its effect will remain even if Lina dies.

Light strike array will effectively block all the future actions targeting the target slot for a full cycle.
Light Strike array effect will affect all type of abilities even the auto trigger/passive ones.
Light strike array is still a type of block and can be effectively blocked/dodged especially with "Agility" modifier.

The fiery soul is not stackable and can only be activated once (one extra vote in a day phase if there was a successful action).
An action is considered successful if the effect of the action is not blocked and all the conditions of that action are met but it doesn't need to provide a result to be considered successful. for example, the light strike array is considered successful the moment its effect is activated - not when it actually blocks something.

Laguna blade can't bypass commute but it will bypass all sort of redirection. For example, if she targets Phoenix while she is doing Icarus Dive, the kill will fail. but if she targets the one phoenix dived too, the main owner of that slot will die as laguna blade will bypass redirection.

TL;DR

Earthshaker [Strength]


Fissure [n][2c]: Roleblock a player and whoever is targeting them.

Enchant Totem [d][2c]: The targeted slot won’t be able to change their vote for 24 hours. Can’t be used in last 48 hours of a day phase deadline.

Aftershock [p]: Using Enchant Totem will grant you an extra vote that will be attached to your next vote.

Echo slam
[n][4c]: Your target, whoever is targeting them beside Earthshaker and whoever they are targeting will be counted. All the involved players will start the next day phase with an invisible vote on them for each counted player.


LevelTalent Tree
25Enchant totem will become a night action but it's effect will be for all of the next day phase.Echo Slam will be able to lynch a player on it's own.
20Echo Slam cool down reduces to 3 cycles.Get one extra point of Strength.
15Fisher will effect on whoever your slot is targeting as well.Fisher cooldown reduces to 1 cycle.

NotesFissure is a mass action block, targeting your target and whoever is targeting them.
It will work as a jailkeeper that instead of healing is role blocking the targeters (It's similar to Isolator).

Enchant Totem is a 24 hours temp Vote block. the player that is under the effect of "Enchant Totem" won't be able to change vote for 24 hours (this can be very important in combination with other heroes abilities).

BLITZ: For blitz games that has 48/12/12 phases use a 6 hours vote block for Enchant Totem. Also, Enchant Totem won't be usable in the last 12 hours of a day phase.

With Aftershock, ES gets an extra vote attached to their next vote
(and only their next vote)

Aftershock extra vote is public and named as the Earthshaker player.

Echo slam works like this:

Imagine player a and b targeting player c and player c targeting player d. Earthshaker targets player c, the next day will start like:

Echo Slam can't lynch any players by it's own. Players that are put on L-0 and are under effect of this ability will be assumed at L-1 unless if the related "talent" is learnt at level 25.


Notifications and FeedbacksWhen Enchant Totem hit a target, Target will receive the following notification:

Phantom Assassin[Agility]


Stifling Dagger [d][1c]: Force you to unvote and cast two invisible votes on your target. The effect will go if you vote again. Nothing can block these votes if the dagger reaches its target.

Phantom Strike [n][3c]: Jump behind someone else, redirect all the casted abilities on you to them. They will still be seen targeting you.

Blur [p][n][1-Shot]: There is a chance (15%) for all the actions casted on you to fail. Phantom Assassin can disable that passive forever to become invisible from vote count for the next day.

Coup de Grace
[p]: Your first vote each day will make a critical strike and will harm twice. Your stifling dagger won't force you to unvote anymore.


LevelTalent Tree
25Cop de Grace has 25% chance to happen with every other votes you cast during the day.Cop de Grace will harm trice.
20Get one extra point of Agility.Stifling Dagger will put 3 annonymous votes.

NotesStifling dagger can be blocked by any action block. Nothing can effect-block it though.

Stifling Dagger MUST BE CASTED PRIVATELY.


Phantom Strike is not a normal redirect as everyone will still see those actions targeting the phantom assassin when they will affect the person she is jumping behind.

Blur will be calculated separately for each action that is happening in that night.
Blur won't affect the night she is performing the phantom strike.
Blur can be activated once in the game - removing its passive bonus for that night and the rest of the game, but phantom assassin will be invisible in vote count next day.
Being invisible in vote count means no one can see the wagon on her and no one can see her votes (they won't appear). But the number of votes on other players will be there.
Blur will make all of her votes - including stifling dagger invisible

With Coup de Grace and the stifling dagger, she can cast up to 4 votes naturally (her first vote will count twice and she can cast a dagger after that).

Dragon Blood [p]: As Not Town, you will be investigated as a town. As Town, you won't die by the first killing attempt during each cycle.

Elder Dragon Form

Green Dragon: The person you're voting can't vote.

In case he is town he will have one per cycle Bodyguard.

Dragon Knight must choose the elder form he is turning when he is sending in his action at night phase.
Elder Dragon form effects are bounding and will end if dragon knight dies.
Elder Dragon forms are treated as buffed passives.

Remote Mines

Proximity Mines won't effect during MiLo/LyLo.
In case these traps explode the person in effect will get n anonymous (?) votes at the start of next day.
In case multiple players from opposing clan visit the slot on the same night only the first visitor according to DNAR will be under effect.

Stasis Trap adds a passive ability on the target slot. Stasis Trap can't stack.
In case multiple players from opposing clan visit the slot on the same night only the first visitor according to DNAR will be under effect.

Blast Off! is a suicide bomb ability. Techies will be considered as the later death.

Remote Mines is a PGOizer.
Remote Mines adds a passive ability on the target slot. These passive abilities can't stack.
Techies must ignite all the remote mines in the game in the same night. They will only effect if people from the opposing clan are visiting.
You can put a new remote mine and ignite them at the same night. Igniting remote mines is not an ability cast and can't be stopped by any means.

Techies can use his utilities on different players!

The effect of Techies traps (Proximity Mines, Stasis Traps, Remote Mines) removes if Techies dies (Bounding).

Tether [d][2c]: Tethers Io to a person from the same faction. IO will have a chat with them for the duration of the tether. All non-killing actions targeting IO will be duplicated on them. The tether will end at the end of next cycle’s night or when IO decides to end it.

Spirits [n][2c]: Summon 5 spirits. Each can stop a non-killing ability casted on you. You can either command them to protect you or the person you’re tethered to.

Overcharge [d][1c]: Forces you to follow the person you’re tethered with votes for the rest of the day but allow them to cast an extra ability that cycle.

Relocate
[n][2c]: Teleport Io and any tethered ally to another slot. All actions targeting that slot will target both IO and the person IO is tethered with and they will be considered commuted from their own slots.

NotesTether is a buff which adds a passive to both IO and the target, allowing them to talk to each other and duplicates the actions.
Tether is a bounding ability and will be disbanded if and when IO dies.
The duplication of night actions will happen if IO keeps the tether until the start of the night phase.

Spirits are 5 buffs.
Spirits is a bounding ability and will be disbanded if and when when IO dies.
Spirits will last for 1 cycle. for example if casted night 2 it will affect night 2 and day 3 and the twilight 3 but will be expired night 3.
When casting spirits one must define if they want spirits-in (to protect themselves) or spirits-out (to protect the tether).
Spirits can only effect block and the action will still be duplicated on the tethered person because of tether effect.

Overcharge will force IO to follow the votes their partner is casting for the rest of the day and will allow them to case an extra ability that cycle (day, twilight, night). If IO dies and the extra chance has not been used, the effect of overcharge will be canceled.

Relocate lasts for 2 cycles. For example, if casted on day 2, it will end at the end of night 4.
Relocate will commute IO and the person it is tethered to the behind of another slot. as the rule of commuting in DotA mafia, all actions targeting the relocated slot will be duplicated on IO and the person they brought with them but no action targeting their own slots will effect.

Frost Arrows[d][0c]: The next vote you cast will disable the target for the rest of the day. They won’t be able to cast any abilities while you are voting them.

Precision Aura [p]: Everyone in your clan will have 1 extra vote stuck to their main vote if they vote someone you’re already voting.

All the players who are targeting drow ranger will be affected.

Precision Aura will only work on votes that happen after drow ranger.

Marksmanship will remove the condition of Precision Aura and will increase the whole clan's votes (including drow ranger's) by one without any conditions.

Marksmanship with talent 25-2 is Bounding and an effect block ability.


Notifications and FeedbacksIf both Precision Aura and Marksmanship are learned, players in drow ranger's clan will receive this clan wide notification:

Templar Assassin[Agility]


Refraction [d & n][2c]: Gives Lanaya two passive abilities of "Damage" - which adds one vote attached to her next casting vote and "Absorb" that prevents the next kill attempt on her. Both passives will disappear at the end of the phase.

Meld [d][2c]: Hide from all sights, which makes you untargetable by any actions. Your first vote after Meld will be twice harmful. Casting other abilities or voting will end the effects of Meld.

Psi Blade [p]: Whenever you vote someone, you will vote the person they are voting as well.

Psionic Trap
[n][1c]: Build a trap on another slot. If anyone from the opposing clan visits that slot on in next night phases, their primary trait will be disabled for that phase. Traps will explode when they are used.

NotesRefraction adds two passive abilities.
Damage is only usable for day phases and increases Templar assassin's vote that day.
Absorb is usable days and nights and is a 1 shot BP.
Refraction is usable days or nights and its effects will end at the end of the phase it was casted in.

Meld makes Templar assassin untargetable.
The effects of meld won't disappear when phases change.
Meld is channeling. any use of ability or voting will remove the effects of Meld.
Hint: Using Refraction and meld in the same day phase can give Lanaya 4 votes.

With Psi Blade, when Templar assassin votes someone else (for example Player A who is voting Player B), they will vote the person their vote is voting as well (In this case TA will vote both person A and person B).
The votes that are made because of Psi Blade are exactly identical to TA's main vote (for example in number).
The votes that are made because of Psi Blade happen later than the normal votes Templar assassin casts.
You can't turn Psi Blade off once you learn this ability.

Psionic Traps can disable a Primary Trait. As an action modifier (not an effect block) they will be able to modify all traits - even Agility.
Casting Psionic Trap adds a passive on the target slot.
Psionic Traps will only work on the first visitor based on DNAR.
Psionic Traps will be destroyed when they are used.


Notifications and FeedbacksIf Refraction is activated during day, Templar assassin will receive the following notification:

Berserker's Call [Bounding]: Vote Modifier

Axe [Strength]


Berserker's Call [d][2c]: Taunt another player, forcing their vote on you. You also are locked into voting them, and both will take one less vote to get lynched. The effect will disappear in 48 hours.

Battle Hunger [n][2c]: Enrage a player, causing them to thirst for blood. They can't use any abilities until they kill a player or be on a lynch wagon. This effect will automatically disappear after 1 cycle.

Counter Helix [p]: If someone targets you during the night you will start the next day phase targeting the person above you in the player list.

Culling Blade
[d][5c]: If you hammer someone, the game won't enter Twilight and the day may continue. (This ability will be automatically triggered whenever you hammer and it's available)


LevelTalent Tree
25Culling Blade cooldwon reduces to 2 cycles.If you kill a player from opposing alignment with culling blade, it will only go to 1 cycle cooldown.
20Get one point of Agility.Get one point of Inteligence.

NotesBerserker's Call effects will be removed if Axe dies. (Bounding)
Berserker's Call will make both players hated (they will need one less vote to get lynched) and it will force Axe vote onto them and their vote onto Axe.
Any Unvote or Vote change won't affect when Berserker's Call is activated
If less than 48 hours is remaining in a day the effect will remain till day end.

Battle Hunger will affect the next day phase and the next night phase.
Battle Hunger will not block the player in the same night it's casted.

Battle hunger can be canceled if the target uses a killing action on the same night or somehow kills another player next day/night. Lynch is also acceptable.
Note that all Disables will be counted as a "Target Block" during the phases they are effecting.

The playerlist will be considered circular for counter helix. (the above person for the first player in the list is the last player in the list).
Axe will vote the first living player above himself in player list if counter helix is activated.

Culling Blade can allow Multiple Lynches.

Culling Blade is an Auto Trigger Active ability, which means if it's conditions are met, it will be casted automatically.
Culling Blade will only effect if Axe is putting down a hammer vote and if it's not on cooldown.

Ability Types


DoTA Mafia has various abilities that heroes can learn and use during the game. These abilities have some meaningful tags which categorize them and has meanings about the way these actions will be in action and how they must be resolved in DNAR.

First and before everything all abilities are
Passive
or
Active
.

Passive
Passive
abilities are the abilities that don't require casting.
Passive
abilities are all
Non-Targeting
which means they will apply to other players or the hero with that ability without forcing them to do anything.
Active
Active
abilities are all abilities that are not
Passive
.
Active
abilities are limited to be active on one or two of the phases (Day, Twilight, Night). They will have effect when the player who owns the ability uses it. Active abilities might be
Non-Targeting
or
Targeting
. Active abilities might be
Auto
.
Active
abilities will have no effect before being casted.


Each ability has 3 phase of resolving: Casting - Targeting - Visiting.

During the casting phase, the ability will be recognized as an action that needs to be resolved. For night actions, they will be added to the list of actions that must be resolved during the night phase. During the targeting phase, the ability will point to its target (the slots it will affect). And finally, During the Visiting phase, the action will take place and the people who were targeted will be affected.

For example, imagine Crystal Maiden using Crystal Nova on Wraith King. At first the action of "[Playername] as Crystal Maiden is casting Crystal Nova" will be listed in the casting phase. After that, the "[Player name] as Wraith King is targeted by Crystal Nova" will be listed if Casting phase was successful. We call that the targeting phase. Finally, the player who was playing as Wraith king will receive the effects of the Crystal Nova in the Visiting phase and the player Crystal Maiden will visit the Wraith King slot.

Passive
abilities don't need casting per definition and are all
Non-Targeting
. Because of this for all
Passive
abilities the first two phases of resolving the actions will be skipped. Also when an action is
Non-Targeting
, during the visiting phase the caster won't visit anyone. Please be sure to never confuse conditional effects with visiting. For example, Axe Counter Hellix is a
Passive
and
Non-Targeting
ability. This means that Axe won't visit anyone when it's activated and the effect will happen because it's conditions are met.

Targeting
Targeting
abilities are the ones that require the player to visit another slot for making that ability work.
Targeting
actions are all
Active
. If a

action was automated it will be labled as

but it's still

.

All actions that are not

There are several other tags for abilities in DoTA Mafia which are as follow:

Buffing
Abilities can add extra lasting
Passive
effects on their targets. These abilities are marked with a [+] in ability description. These

Debuffing
There are several abilities that can remove the effecting

abilities or buffs on a player. These abilities are called
Debuffers
and are marked with a [-] on ability description.
Bounding
Bounding
abilities are the ones that need some time to take effect or has a effect that is lasting. The effects of these abilities will be removed if the caster dies or if anything else specific (Including all Action Blockers) cancels the
Bounding
effect.
Channeling
Channeling
abilities are a type of
Bounding
abilities which will force the caster to not cast anything else when they are in effect or they will be canceled.


Categories


Action Modifiers


Abilities that can modify the effect of other actions. These abilities won't interfere with the 3 phases of actions and will only modify the effect of those actions or the way they can be used.

Motivator
Will add a passive of Inteligence to all effected players even temporarly. Those players will be able to use extra actions per cycle as long as their intelligence is boosted.
Ninja
The modified action won't be seen by watchers/trackers (the visit will be invisible for all purposes).
Duplicator
Will copy a used action. the target of action might change based on the ability.
Delayer
Will delay the effect of abilities that are finilized. Note that the visits will happen in same night phase and only the effects of actions will be delayed.
Cooldown Reseter
Reseting the cooldown of the modified actions.


Redirection


Redirection
These abilities will change the target of a Targeting action in their targeting step when getting resolved.


Blockers


These abilities can block a casted action.

Disabler
Will block an action in casting step in a future phase.
Target Blocker
Abilities that will block an action in targeting phase. The player in effect will know that they can't target the people that are protected from taregting in that phase.
Action Blocker/Roleblock
Abilities that will block an action in visiting phase.
Effect Blocker
Abilities will take place (are 3 steps will be done successfully) but their effect will be canceled. Most Effect Blocks are specialized for a type of action.
Healing/Effect Blocker(Killing)
The actions that are Effect Block(Killing) like bullet proof vests or doctor type heals are also known as Healing actions.


Killing


Killing
These abilities can be used to kill another slot.


Death and Flip


These abilities are related to death or flipping mechanics.

Revive
Allowing a recent dead player to join back to game. If a player has the chance to return to game they won't have access to dead thread.
Janit
Making someone flipless.


Informative


Informative
All sort of actions that can be used to give the player extra information about the game setup, other player actions or the game status.


Neighboring


Neighboring
The abilities that will allow the players to contact each other out of the game thread or the basic threads for clans/alignment.


Voting Related Abilities


The abilities that can affect the voting system. These abilities can't be used in MiLo or Lylo.

Vote Blocker
Remove someone ability to vote/change vote.
Vote Modifier
Change the number of votes someone needs for getting lynched (Strength Primary attribute) or changing the power of someones vote (forexample making it twice harmful) or the way they can cast it/it will effect the vote counts.
