Actually, something like this would be a decent community contrib nom, imo. Finding replacements can be hard, and someone who did that much to help game integrity deserves the recognition.

I'm behind a long way on the thread but this is a great summary of why I suggested the award should be added (back).

Like, I'm kind of interested in reasons why ywall replace into games, because I really do not think the first thought is "I'm going to be the hero that saves this game and makes it enjoyable again.

I replace in when I need a game and the game needs a player.

1. It's easier for me to get into a large if there's a backlog of things to look into, so joining on a later day > joining from the start.
2. Frequently, games that I'm interested in are popular and I'm not the kind of guy who checks the signups threads regularly.
3. Playerlist is a key factor for whether I want to play in a game, and if I replace I know I don't have to worry (as much) about someone joining after me who I decide I don't want to have to deal with.
4. As a mod, I've had games where finding replacements is difficult, and that sucks. I can consistently be, at the least, a warm body that talks.
5. I tend to read games I'm not in because I don't have time to play as many games as I'd prefer to be able to. Frequently, this means I'm already caught up and provide minimal disturbance in the game tempo.
6. It's good for the site.
7. I rarely say no when asked to replace into a game.

Not all of these are equal and they're definitely not in order of how much they impact the decision, but that's pretty much all of my reasons.

I join larges and then never read. It's great when people just give me information to solve the game because I don't bother.

my argument towards that btw
is that neither ank nor I would be as townread as we were if we didn't bus D1
our being townreads was fundamentally built off of the sacrifice of the grapes slot
i led the bus, ank!slot had the lolhammer that got the slot townread

grapes may not have played in the late game but they were integral to our success in the late game and a slot getting bussed shouldn't mean that it isn't considered for an award like this imo

grapes easily got scum 1-2 mislynches from pure town paranoia

interestingly i refused to nominate an old game with drealmerz7 and mariar and a few others as scum for best scum game a year or two back b/c i felt like maria would be cut for the award because she was lynched early even though her lynch is the primary reason that scum won.

The team wasn't really beating the odds but the duo of ankamius & rc essentially spent like 6 day phases as consensus townreads while driving the game (both were post leaders, both lead lynches); by day 7 almost nobody was willing to consider either of them individually as wolves and they could have probably won a theoretical nightless game from that point on like twice over. though grapes was lynched day 1, they were double-bussed and earned the scum team several mislynches & allowed the team to control the next several days as such.

i'm not arguing in favor of or against a nomination. i'm arguing that the nomination should include an additional player. i think as part of the team that should be something that i should have a weigh-in on?

FWIW, I don't think it's that scumsided, just strong-presence-sided.

And, yeah, nth. Much as I'd like to say we'd have caught them given enough motivation, we wouldn't. And they had some pretty obvtown slots to contend with and get lynched too.
