What if you could "react" a post in mafia?

Discord and slack have this feature where you can interact with someone else's message by attaching a tiny little emoji/symbol to it, and in such a manner that the total number of that kind of symbol are tallied and that when you mouse over, you can see who put that symbol there.

In the social sense it is really fun to put goofy emojis on a funny message or see whether we all agree with some snarky comment enough to get the tally on the "fire" symbol rather high. This usage strikes me as useless for forum mafia.

But sometimes, someone prints a message that I slightly agree with, or is news I'm happy to hear, or is news I'm sad to hear, and I want to express that, BUT, not quite enough for it to be worth printing my username to a new line and occupying space on the page. I have no detail to add. Then the react feature offers me a unique way to add that input while avoiding the baggage I want to avoid. This strikes me as potentially useful for forum mafia. In these chat services the symbol can be removed, but if it was adapted to forum mafia it would of course need to be permanent.

You'd want maybe a dozen different symbols for common sentiments towards a certain post. "scummy post" "towny post" "agree with conclusion" "disagree with conclusion" "lol" and someone ones I'm not thinking of right away.

People have some interest in the Geriatric Ruleset, I myself am not a huge pre-in for Geriatric ruleset games but this could be a piece of the puzzle. If player were able to give some minor feedback on posts without committing an entire post (sometimes it has to be an entire pagetop, or nothing!) it could change the flow of dayplay a lot. "QFT" posts would be expected to go away completely. I think people refrain from them sometimes because of the clutter they create, so the dayplay would gain "QFT" posts people weren't able to make before.

Maybe some other site has this, I don't play on other sites. This was just something I was thinking about and I was curious of thoughts. Are there major downsides I'm not thinking of? It'd require special customization if any mafia site implemented it, of course, that's a big one.

I'm a bit torn on this. This allows people to avoid communicating in a way. How people talk is important sometimes and allowing people to bypass that makes it way harder to hunt scum, honestly.

It could have a feature where when you do it, it also attributes it to you. i.e.: it's not anonymous.

And simply saying you agree with something honestly shouldn't have its wording heavily scrutinized.

It would need to be 100% attributable for sure.

Unless mods count using the feature as satisfying the activity requirement, and they shouldn't I don't see how it could make it harder to hunt scum, since using the feature in lieu of posting is a choice that can itself be scrutinized, just like the choice to do the bare minimum to meet the activity requirement.

Like I don't know how to express it actually. It kinda removes an element of the game where people need to express themselves substantially with meaningful posts. Giving them the option to skip that in favor of reactions kinda kills the idea of the game imo. I'm not sure if what i'm trying to say is even clear but that's just my gut feeling about it. And mind you, I find reactions actually really good in a lot of scenarios but just not in the context of a mafia game. That's all.

I think you're not understanding that the point of reaction to posts isn't just "oh i feel like reacting to this post", but it's more "hey, take a look on this post", which simply turning into an emoji attached to the post won't help at all.
