If lynching disallowed D1, even # of players favors town?

Let's suppose you're in a game where lynching isn't allowed on D1, but instead after some brief chatter, the game just goes into N1, where scum have a NK.

Is it to the advantage of town in that case if the game starts with an even number of players on D1, so that they begin D2 with an odd number of players?

No lynching, is generally bad for town, in most cases outside of MYLO.

Advantage is with evens yes

Still disadvantage to town since they just lose a competent player with no gain

If lynching is disallowed, it creates player apathy. Having the option to no lynch is one thing, disallowing is a different thing entirely.

In most of the sorts of setups we run here (i.e. setups where the night is very scumsided, you don't have strong town power roles or a strongly townsided night mechanic dominating things), it's probably a bad idea to talk too much (or at all) during twilight because it helps scum aim their abilities more than it helps town – any actual discussion you have can wait until after scum have already aimed their shots.

So this kind of start is effectively an N0 start if played correctly. That would suggest playing with the opposite parity from normal; normally odd is more townsided, but it depends somewhat on which roles are in a setup (doctor-like roles can change the calculation, vig-like roles almost always do).

This.

If there is no lynching, and no wagons allowed, then there's nothing game-related to discuss anyway.
Join me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.
