Hi!
Let's suppose you're in a game where lynching isn't allowed on D1, but instead after some brief chatter, the game just goes into N1, where scum have a NK.
Is it to the advantage of town in that case if the game starts with an even number of players on D1, so that they begin D2 with an odd number of players?
Thanks.

It's situational. A lot of people will say yes given that majority thresholds are higher than usual with even player counts (which means a surprising amount) but also consider
1) more Townies = better for Town in general
2) there may be other ways of killing people, which would bring the player count back to an even number
For future reference, the Mafia Discussion subforum is over here.

Some setups go to evens intentionally in order to offset similar advantages the setup offers to the mafia. Each even playercount like 5-1 instead of 4-1, 4-2 instead of 3-2, 6-2 instead of 5-2, it corresponds to the similar odd count in that there is an equal number of mislynches before the town loss, but there is less mafia control over the lynches, and more town-aligned solvers.
I tend to prefer setups stay on odds to avoid "hung jury" issues, which I don't know to be townsided or scumsided, just a pain. But it's very very defensible to use evens to tweak the balance of a setup though, especially because it is hard to turn the knobs and get an effect that is less powerful than a blocked NK or modconfirming someone's alignment, and an extra VT is one of those knobs. It's an extra player but not an extra mislynch."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."
"What? Nothing? You would make the prince suffer over... nothing?" - popsofctown
