Is there someone to escalate moderator issues to?

I completed a game and the moderator of the game apparently has quit on the final steps of opening up some of the game threads that some of us in the game would like to read (the scum pt, some private notes threads, etc). It's been numerous days and I've made a private message request (just a friendly reminder!) days ago to the moderator to open those threads. It appears it's not going to happen.

Is there someone who oversees the moderators who can step in and take care of those last couple of steps?

In general, you PM a list mod (the people with green names). You can also report the posts.

Thank you, somehow I forgot that there was a backup mod. The request was made and most of the requested threads were opened. Thanks again for your responses.

Well since I played in the game and was in the PT I think it's also my business to some degree.

Yeah I could be all, that's cool, but seriously. That's not cool. We all put time into these games, is it so hard to just do a good job as a mod and make sure that everyone gets the most out of the games that they can?

And maybe mods have a good reason for not releasing things but when they give no feedback about it that's just as frustrating.

What do I need to do to become a mod? I cover for people at work who can't do their job properly all the time, I guess I have to do it in my spare time too as well.

Wasn't talking about you. I was talking kind of about my last game using *this* account where threads did not get released and also just generally responding to the attitude of "we don't have to if we don't want to".

Any game-relevant (scum, mason etc.) PTs should really be released, particularly if people want to look at how the game was solved etc.

Any private PTs (like if I set one up to dump my thoughts into) then nah m8.

Sorry, but it's indefensible to excuse bad mod behavior like that. It's the duty of a moderator to not be a lazy bastard and open PT's. Especially if players especially ask for them to do so.

Why would you think that it is the laziness of the mods that would prevent them from unlocking the relevant PTs?

Only reason I would not release the PTs as a mod would be to protect the privacy of the involved players.

Some people don't want them released because the PTs can be quite personal, and I respect that.

They did get released, all that remained to my knowledge was one player's private scratchpad thread, and that player wanted it to be released, and I wanted to read it, and it never got released. When I originally started this thread, several other private threads (scum, dead, etc) had not been released but the backup mod released them. The remaining private player thread was very interesting to read and actually quite entertaining (I got to read it because the player who wrote it PM'd me a copy of all of their posts from the thread at my request) and I think a lot of players would have gotten something out of it to had they been able to read that. When people create content that makes the site better by virtue of making the post game more fun/interesting, I think it's a shame when it gets lost.

Furthermore, no reason was ever given for not opening the thread. If there is a good reason, then my all means tell it and the interested players will understand.

Further to that, I wasn't even trying to blame the mod or anything, I was just trying to find out if there was a way to get the threads opened without having to continually write to a mod who was not responding.

I think actually this entire thread went astray when Gamma Emerald posted and on re-read I think I understand why. I thought that he was referring to my desire to get the threads opened when he said "That's not exactly a major offense", like I was acting like the mod had done something wrong (which wasn't what I was trying to say), but now I realize that he was probably responding to Titus' comment that "You can also report the posts." I think in fact Gamma Emerald was saying that not opening threads is not 'reportable' because it's not bad/disallowed behavior. And in fact I agree with that, I would not have "reported" the posts, I was just trying to figure out if someone else besides the mod, who was not responding, could open the threads.

But there's also this aspect where I'm not going to just accept that mods can or should do whatever they want post-game at their own whims. Everyone should be a bit accountable, and the content that players contribute to this site belongs to everyone and should be opened barring good reasons not to (a mod saying "I didn't feel like it" is not, in my opinion, a good reason).

As a mod I can't envision a scenario where I would not want to release the PTs of a game. It's possible a participating player might not want it released for whatever reason, but outside of that I don't see any reason as a mod to not release them. (Or at the very least simply allow the participating players to do so if they agree to.)

To date I don't recall ever not releasing a mod created game relevant PT.
