This forum is for discussion related to the game.

I dislike receiving a VT role PM.

VT is better if you're good at mafia and bad if you're bad at mafia.

I played a game on another website where the mafia team found a PR who also happened to be a strong player. That's pretty disadvantageous for town because the mafia got rid of town's PR and a strong player with just one shot.
If someone else had randed PR instead of the strong player, then town would have had a better chance of winning.

I also think VT is fun because you can do whatever you want and not have to "act both scummy and towny."

Well, not necessary - bad players not always make good use of their powers, so PR can be just wasted on bad player. Also, bad players are more likely to get lynched, even as a PR, lynching VT is less painful than lynching PR. It's case by case thing

I am relieved. It is always a positive note for me. I just never expect or hope for a power role. Yet if I do draw a power role, I do have an extra dose of excitement.

Norwe is spontaneous, has a stream-of-consciouness posting style, usually posts on catch-ups by commenting on past pages posts, gets rather fired up in certain moments in games, is relatively as playful as me in games and likes casual shitposting

I think whether VT is a good role for a player depends a lot on the player. If you're very dayplay focused, good at scumreading, good at leading the town, etc., VT is one of the roles you really want (with only Bulletproof Townie and possibly Unjester being better). If you're more mechanically/nightplay inclined, or have more of a tendency to slip under the radar, or like to make solo actions rather than collaborate with the town, you'd perhaps be better off with a power role (or even as a Mafia member).

I wouldn't say that I'd
turn down
a power role, but VT means getting killed off early is a net positive and it's a little less pressure to aim well, so it's best for everyone.

cfj is missing "Bulletproof
SK
"

I find it a relief, unless it's a game I joined specifically for the fun mechanics, because of the freedom it gives. You can really play to the game rather than work around your specific role. Also, everyone has an expectation about how vig or cop ~should~ play, so I'm more likely to catch shit for being creative...

This is amazing. I'm riveted. I can't tell if something horrible or amazing just happened to this kid and I love it.

A few days ago, I started playing a game called Town of Salem. Part of the fun is that each player gets their own special thing to do or attempt.

Being a vanilla townie means that your contribution is based totally on your ability to read people and socialize. If you're bad at these things, you're worthless and possibly even a detriment. That's not a good feeling.

If I'm a Sherif/Cop, Psychic, or Bodyguard, I can still be useful.
