Honestly - How Drunk are you When Playing Mafia?

I am newbie. Less than three games here.

But I've read through many threads, and it's obvious that the players are not exactly sober. I read some posts and it's plain to see that the writer is so high that being able to post anything is an accomplishment.

This isn't my attempt to shade anyone, but I'm interested in whether anyone will talk about why mafia seems to inspire both this intense focus and this need to get as high as a kite.

Do any of you feel like you play better after a shot or two? Why or why not?

For those of you who are sober/straight, does the fact that your partners are sometimes obviously engaging in recreational chemicals bother you?

Do you think that all players should be sober while playing, or do you think being shit-faced has its place?

ther are two aspects of mafia (and sometimes a threerd):
1) insight. this covers both scumhunting (as town) and pr-hunting/feeling out the game-state to find the best positions to take (as scum)
2) charisma. this covers being read as town and sucessfully pushin ur desired executions.
3) problem solving. tis mostly only facotrs in complex mechanical setups.

some people find intoxication helps with the 2nd one. the other reason being drunk hleps is some ppl find the game very stressfl and have more fun/take i t less seriousy if they arent sober while postin.

i find i am my sharpest - at least analytically - fresh from a 9 hour sleep. a series of stretches and a strong coffee later, i am then in peak form. most of the left-brain grunt work that needs to be done happens in these early waking hours.

when i wish to simulate an alternate perspective on a game (or on other creative projects for that matter), i will enter a meditative trance through the use of ketamine (and sometimes other obscure research chemicals - though i am picky). i find this to be a direct pathway to a more intuitive mindset - a mindset that allows for more abstract associations/observations not usually accessible in my more logical states.

a k-hole itself is usually too other worldly to comprehend the subtleties of a mafia game, but just after one, in the gentle afterglow, i can often see posts or moments in games in a new light. these new feelings often guide at times when logic has reached its limits. this is divine intuition.

i've never found alcohol particularly useful for mafia purposes.

I play mafia sober depending on whether i could afford alcohol that day.

...Ok no, i don't really drink often. But sometimes i do, and i have no qualms playing mafia while being completely shitfaced.
Also a surprising amount of people seem to be smoking weed here, but i'm not into that kinda thing.

When I started playing regularly a few months ago I would play sober, drunk, high, and cross faded without much regard. I definitely played too stoned to remember anything (on edibles while on a trip to Michigan) but I don't think I've played while black-out drunk, just pretty close. Both drugs individually and together had a disastrous effect on my gameplay.

I think at very low levels of alcohol or weed there are some minor benefits to your gameplay, alcohol to lower your inhibitions and weed to improve your mood.
