That’s really nuts and I wish the mods would explain why that occured.

no, he was town as was I. The reason (or at least one of) he was getting so mad is b/c I wasn't wagoning the player he wanted me to. The player he was wagoning was town and the player that I was wagoning was scum. There is something both comical and sad about gettingTHATupset over a game.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It should in theory, but i dont think any system where a set of individuals hold power will work, ever. Reports should either be open to the public or be overseen by a single admin that can claim responsibility. Giving the responsibility to a small group only makes it so that biased judgements can be passed without anyone being responsible for a shit judgement. In post 30, Sirius9121 wrote:Would a jury system work on a forum Mafia site?Age of Empires Elo: 1500 something in DE, 1800 in HD

I have my own opinions on who should or should not be banned, but i dont think thats the point. The fact of the matter is you cant put a new ruleset and be done with that. If you put down a vague ruleset, then bans will be unjust. If you make strict rules, then people will act around it, and this time the strict rules make the players more passive aggressive, which is far worse than being straight aggressive.
What matters is who handles the reports. If there are too many reports for one person, make it open to the public to decide the final verdict. It will be chaotic, hard to track but at least it will be just. If not, have a head moderator for reports. He can be consistent, and if hes consistently wrong then we can make a petition to remove him/her and replace them with someone more capable. In the end, this is a system that will sort itself out through time, without having to relate itself to a non moving, non interactive ruleset.
In the end, context matters most of all. Changing the ruleset wont change anything. Every interaction should be examined both solely and in comparison to other cases. Relying on a wall of text everytime something troubling happens will never work.Age of Empires Elo: 1500 something in DE, 1800 in HD

Context matters. Posts like these dont mean anything. Its only inconsistent when you take a glance at the posts in solitude, the situations preceding both of them were quite different.

Yes, context matters, very much so. But at the same time, I don't think context gives people a license to be rude to each other. That is, everyone should strive to follow the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."- Gamma Emerald

Presume we have a Mafia member who acts toxically in a strictly Pro-town way (as in, the Mafia wouldn't gain any advantage what-so-ever by employing this tactic.)
What should happen to them? Well, we can't replace them, since they would be outed as Mafia to anyone paying attention. But we equally can't not replace them because they are, presumably, breaking a rule.
Therefore, I propose that we don't allow toxicity, even if it can be used in a strategic manner.Show"I'm sorry that you put asbestos in your coffee."

Or, we ban them after the game. If they are unforgivably toxic they get replaced and banned regardless of alignment anyway, so if they are using it as a strategy while being normally toxic then we can let the game run its course and apply punishment after. As someone who was banned mid game in a site previous, banning/force replacing someone for any reason mid game is a complete dick move, both to the mod and to the player, so especially if its something up for debate then wait until the game ends.Age of Empires Elo: 1500 something in DE, 1800 in HD

I think game mods need to be as accountable as players. If a mod doesn't properly report a player then disiplinary action should be considered to the mod.Mafia Record: Town 4-3 Mafia 0-1 Third Party 1-0 Total 5-4

That’s kind of extreme, it makes way more sense to suggest that the mod not ignore player complaints. Speaking as a game mod and I’m sure that many game mods will concur with this, we aren’t rigorously following what’s going on in our games. We don’t read every single post. It’s up to the players to either complain to the game mod and either one can report a post if necessary. In post 45, NoPowerOverMe wrote:I think game mods need to be as accountable as players. To actually penalize a game mod for failing to read every single post in their game seems kind of silly and counterproductive. All that would accomplish is an absence of people to mod games. Otoh, it is easy for a mod to pay attention to a player complaint, that is the difference.**********We just need to tread carefully because if you slip up around her as scum she notices and will tear your spine out and slap you to death with it.
