Advice for someone with little free time who wants to play?
I'm a complete newbie interested in playing Mafia on this site.
Checking in once a day is doable, but because of the constraints of my personal life, any situation that would require me to reply promptly in a back-and-forth conversation, or post at multiple times of the day, is a no-go.
I'm concerned that if I join a game, even though I'll meet the requirement to post once a day, I'll still be unable to participate in a more than peripheral capacity, while the game will be dominated by users with more free time who will have frequent back-and-forth interactions throughout the day.
Does that sound like something I should be concerned about, or is it normal that someone can post once per day and have a fulfilling experience?
Are there any, I don't know, special games designed for busy people, where there's an expectation of minimal posting or even some sort of restriction on posting too often, so as to level the playing field?
I dunno, I'd really like to play, but this isn't something I'm able to commit much time to, and I guess I'm looking for any advice you folks might have for someone in that situation. (Even if it's "don't play here.")
Thanks!- Ythan

I think your best bet is to play first a newbie game, but then stick to the Micro Queue. Posting once a day would be perfectly fine, I think what you'd mostly be missing out on (depending on activity) is the interaction with people. You'd be using that time to post your thoughts and maybe do a quick catch-up. Some people might get a little annoyed, but if you work on saying everything you want to in one post they won't be bothered.
Best of luck to you, Mafia is a fun gameStop- Ythan

I used to play at close to a one-wall-per-day posting rate, due to real life constraints. It's doable, although it'll look out of place in some queues. Bear in mind, though, that in a Mafia game, the reading typically takes more time than the writing.
The Micro Queue might be a good place for it (if nothing else, there'll be fewer posts to catch up on with the typical Micro playerlist).scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- Cook

Bit of a necro, but I'm here to answer Ythan and offer a suggestion.
Geriatric ruleset says you can only make 10 posts per 24 hours. You're allowed 15 posts for 24 hours before deadline.
You have a stockpile of 20 bonus posts for the game that's taken from if you're overdrawn on your posts per day.
If you run out of reserve and hit your limit, you're allowed one naked vote change a day.
It's meant to be a calmer game and I think that's a great thing for a low-access player.
Otherwise, I'd look for someone who's running much longer-scale games.- Jake The Wolfie
