Couldn't someone trying to lurk declare V/LA until the end of their current day phase to slow down their prods?
If so, how would someone get caught doing this, and also, how would they be punished? Banned from Queue?

While this is possible in theory, I think in practice, this has never been an issue. In general, when it comes to real life in mafia games, we tend to operate on an honor system. We assume good faith of the player declaring V/LA that they truly are vacationing or have limited access in some form. Also, attempts to abuse the V/LA mechanism is likely to become rather obvious with time, and a moderator always possesses the right to replace a player who declares a lenghty V/LA.
Tactical replacements are the bigger issue, but there is precedent for banning players from games if they attempt to exploit this as evidenced by this ban. That ban was actually due to influencing other ongoing games, but the point was still made that that broke the honor system. I would expect the mods to take action against anyone who attempted to repeatedly abuse V/LAs for personal gains just as they do currently for tactical replacements.Copyright © MafiaScum.
