I think in a number of cases the term we have is just bleh for a reason and deserves to be updated regardless (See the list above).
I agree in that removing gendered terminology isn't important to me, but if it's important to somebody (I'm assuming from the existence of the thread in the first place that either TLich has had people comment or cares personally) then I don't see why we can't make the change before it becomes a bigger problem. I guess to me it's more a question of why not than why.
I'm just asking this question because I noticed the prevalence of gendered role names and can see why it could be an issue. I didn't see anyone comment personally before this, I wanted to ask the question to see if it is an issue.

Fair. I still stand by “I don’t care but if it’s reasonable that someone does why not?” but I apologize if I was putting the desire for change on your shoulders. And I think it’s reasonable to think that someone does.
I see this as a “worst case scenario: net 0 change” situation.
I don't think it's a problem to have gendered roles. I don't think there is a strong need to have all roles become neutral however I think it's fine for mods to use neutral roles if they so wish. Basically unless a role comes off as offensive I don't see a strong need to change it as a standard.
if you want to discuss term replacing Prince specifically here is the thread - but basically Prince is being considered for term replacement for flavor reasons as well as being gendered
I think Mafia Boss is a perfectly fine alternative to Godfather? Could even use "Boss" as a modifier like people are proposing for "Beloved". People will get the movie allusions even if you don't make them explicit.
