Grand Idea Planechase Deck

This deck is directly "inspired" by the Planechase format of MtG. This is a Grand Idea style deck.

This deck is designed to be attached to a Grand Idea-style game such as Grand Idea Mafia or the Deck of Astral Roles. The deck makes Grand Idea even more chaotic. Please wear goggles before using the Planechase Deck.

If you are playing a Planechase game, everyone has this Day ability added to their role card. A 1 ("planeswalk") changes the current plane in effect, and a 6 (Chaos) activates a momentary effect:

Roll Planar DieEach Day, you may roll 1d6 publically in the game thread and post
ROLL PLANAR DIE
(the text must be set apart from normal text, usually with bold).

This ability may be used regardless of rules against provable randomness.

If a 1 is rolled, reroll the current plane in effect.

If a 6 is rolled, activate the
Chaos
effect of the current plane.

A Planechase game has a Planar Card in effect. Roll a plane to be in effect before pregame, so the plane is in effect during pregame.

Planes have constant effects that are in effect whenever that plane is in effect, and
Chaos
effects that activate when someone rolls a 6 on the planar die.

Below the line is an example of a plane, though the plane for #0 is intentionally boring as I want it to be the equivalent of a Vanilla roll.

While on this plane, all votes are considered unvotes, all unvotes are considered votes.

Chaos
: The current phase inverts. Day becomes night, night becomes day. All actions are Inverted. Mod, get creative if you have to to create inverted versions of some roles.

The elimination threshold is reduced by 2, unless it is ELo or Melo.

Chaos
: Your vote weight is doubled for the rest of the Day.




This is just something I am floating to see if anyone would actually want to play this or use these ideas to make a more grounded Planechase Deck.

Either way this is a supplement to GIM or DoAR:XU or other Grand-like (Grand Idea Mafia Planechase and Deck of Astral Roles Planechase are valid setups using the Grand Idea Planechase Deck).

Barring unusual roles that allow Planar Die rolls during unusual phases, a
Chaos
effect should only happen during the Day as the Planar Die roll is a Day ability.

Plane of the DeadEliminated players become stumped while this plane is in effect, and die when the plane is no longer in effect, regardless of how they were eliminated.

CHAOS:
Only the number of votes will be displayed on a Vote Count, not the voters. This is in effect while this plane is in effect.




I'd be game, I'm well into these role madness games :D

The votecount is in blue. Votes will only count if the voter has posted at least three posts entirely in a shade of blue, quotes and votes not counting.

: You gain a 1-shot planar invention to permanently color someone's name blue on the votecount.





The first plane to use the concept of a "planar invention". Planar inventions may be used along with a personal ability.

effect end when the plane is no longer in effect or at the end of the Day? Rolling a 1 on the planar die is a "planeswalk" result, the plane in effect will change.

After hammer is declared by the moderator, or by legitimately by a player, the thread can no longer be posted in, regardless of other roles. Let the night be silent.

CHAOS:
Whenever you roll a 6 on the Planar Die, You may "abduct" one person per night phase. (Essentially remove from the game entirely until the start of day phase. This player will not be told, all actions will return no result.)




Amended Post 3. The effect remains while the plane is in play. Because giggles. I figure some should maybe have longer potential than others? Going to throw some good ones in too I think.

The Day deadline is halved when this plane comes into effect. Whenever a 1 is rolled on the planar die, the Day deadline is doubled to undo this plane's effect.

Plurality voting is in effect.

Only dead players may speak, vote, and act during this time as if they were alive, however they may only target players who are actually living. The Moderator should treat the living player's vote as if they were not voting.
Anyone who is currently living who speaks will immediately die. The only exception to this is to roll the Planear Die.

The Michael Bay DimensionExplosions everywhere. Each vote on another player will remove 1HP. Each player can only vote twice in a 24H period. If no HP effects are already in play, each player is set to 10HP.

CHAOS:
Votes no longer matter. in 48 hours from this result, an explosion is going to hit each player for 5HP. All PTs are closed for this duration as sheer panic sets in.
Each player gets 2 heals to use to prevent 2HP of damage to another player. Once a heal is applied, it cannot be changed. Roll for a new plane after the explosive conclusion.


It's late, these numbers may need tweaking for maximum chaos.

Plane of Fog


All votes are uncast. Any actions taken in-thread should instead be sent to the moderator via PM, including voting.
If a player dies during the fog, it will only be announced after the plane changes. This includes death via execution.
Players who have died may not speak in the thread as per usual, and will be notified by the moderator when they have died.
The moderator will not prod during the duration of the fog.
The moderator, in lieu of a full VC, will give all information other than a VC (such as players who are V/LA).

CHAOS
: You may perform one of your non-factional night actions.




This should be "fun".

The realm of peacePlayers eliminated in this plane cannot return to the game by any means, including revival roles and other planes, even Bah posts - as they are at peace.

CHAOS:
All non-factional actions gain Strongman. All investigatives are Sane. All doctors become Sane. All anti-town role (SK, Alien, Werewolf, Mafia, etc) gain the Weak modifiers. These effects last until the plane is changed.

Dark Realm


The only Day action allowed is rolling the Planar Die. This even includes "any time" actions during the Day.

While this Plane is in effect, all flips will state that the player has been consumed by the darkness.

Chaos
: You are cloaked in darkness. You will be roleblocked the next Night, and will receive frightening visions of a random night action targeting you the Night after (if you weren't targeted the Night after, you will receive frightening visions of demons).

When chosen, all players get a 1-Shot invention from a random active role in the Deck that is currently being used. This does not go away on plane changes.

Chaos: Gain another shot of your invention.


kinda worried the plane swaps are going to happen too often for any of them to have any real effect

Eternal WarAll players gain the Compulsive modifier. Killing abilities gain 1 extra shot.

CHAOS:
There is no longer a night phase. Day phase duration is halved. All X-Shot abilities are now infinite while this plane is in effect. All night actions must be submitted as day actions to the moderator who will action them as they are received. When this plane shifts out, any actions taken in this day phase cannot be used in the next night phase. Protectives will last through the night.

Flea's MindAll targets are random, other players may receive your result if you get one. You may choose to perform no action, however you must declare no action. Factional abilities require all members to declare no action.

CHAOS:
When you roll a 6 on the Planar Dice, you get "A perfectly normal game of mafia." All modifiers are removed from roles for the duration of this plane.

Checkerboard Palace


All active roles act like Checkers (You may check a player. You will be informed of whether your check attempt on that player succeeded or not.) in addition to their actual roles.

: You gain a 1-shot Role Cop (You may learn a player's role.) planar invention.




The planar die hasn't been playtested yet. The planar die is a d6 because that's the one used in the MtG format, it might be worth bumping up to a d8 or d10 if 1's and Chaos are rolled too much. I am thinking 1d8 is better for this game (where 8 is

) but I want to see 1d6 playtested first.

NodnolAll actions are inverted. Protectives kill, kills protect. this includes factional actions.

CHAOS:
Votecount is reset, and the players now vote for someone to be King/Queen/Quing/Royalty who gets to eliminate the player of their choice.




A D6 has like a 16.66% of landing on any particular number, so you're looking at like 33.33% of weirdness happening. Honestly, I like those odds. Depends on how much madness you want in your game, honestly. D6 allows for quite a bit of rule shifting, could het a little headachy mind. D8 puts it at 25% of a shuffle which is probably a little better. D10 is 20% which not insignificant but probably more relaxed.

This is not a plane, this is a Planar Modifier. Planar Modifiers should be rerolled and appended to the next rolled Plane.

This plane's effect continues until the next plane's effect ends.
