Stop the Grandesque Idea threads.

Grand Idea was originally created after Great, Greater, and Greatest Idea Mafia, a meat-world version of Grand Idea Mafia, were made duting scummeets. It was originally meant for silly and fun mafia games, in which everyone could participate by submitting their own role.

In more recent time however new Grandesque idea threads are appearing. These threads attempt to mimic and put a spin on Grand Idea in their own unique way. This is an issue because it's not only clogging up the Mafia Discussion Board, but it's also unnessecary. For example, take Normal Idea Mafia. The premise of this thread is to only create roles that would be allowed in a Normal game. This may sound good in theoey, but it is also pointless. No one signs up to a Grandesque Idea game to play with balanced roles, they sign up because of all the weird and wacky roles that come up.

No Idea Mafia is a thread with the purpose of creating rolea that would classify the game as bastard. That's fine and all, but why does this thread exist? Grand Idea is already bastard as-is, and you don't need a very creative mod to make it even more bastard.

Pretty much all Grandesque Idea threads are trying to remix a unique element about Grand Idea, the idea of uniqueness, that you may have an effect on some future game that runs from the Grand Idea thread, or that you can create any role that you want without consequence. It's Weird, Wacky, but still Grand. Something that the recent posers don't have.

besides i'll add one more point, one of the engaging things with grand idea is that the pool of roles is *big* if you want a more trackable thing, just run great idea / whatever nerd (the DoAR imo was fine as a one-off hybrid between great and grand)

meanwhile, i have trouble to see a big part of these new ideas reach even around 500, and let's not speak about running them, which i think makes them pretty pointless in the end

i'll lock any grand threads i've made so they can bury themselves in the hierarchy (save for word disassociation, that is specifically generating roles for a mini theme i plan to run and will get locked and buried as soon as it finishes.) in the meantime i suggest we make new

I'll probably keep DoAR up for now (I am considering locking it at 1000 however, as the premise is just "what if Grand Idea was designed for Greatest Idea play?"), and as for Planechase I'll keep it as it's a supplement collaborative deck.

No. They wouldn't fit there.

I still think the best solution is to make a dedicated subforum for them. It shouldn't be too hard to do, but then again, this forum has had very strange hierarchy problems, so creating a new one could break it again.

I really don't think this was necessary of you particularly considering idk is it premature to say discussion of a new home for these? But you also had an alternate suggestion so if you locked your threads to promote that more power to you.
