Conspiracy is a Mafia variant which (at least on mafiascum.net) is most commonly played during Marathon weekend due to its fast pace and simple-to-grasp mechanics.

There are two possible variations on Conspiracy that can appear (most commonly referred to as two separate "decks" of role cards): one which has all innocents, and one which has all conspirators except one innocent. You do not know which deck you are playing with.

In the base iteration of Conspiracy there are two kinds of role – Conspirator and Innocent. The Conspirators, if they exist, are all conspiring against one player. If you are a Conspirator, you know who you are conspiring against, and, by extension, who is also conspiring with you.

The Innocent (or Innocents) are unaware of anyone else's allegiances, and must deduce with what little time they have if there exists a conspiracy against them (as, remember, there is not a guarantee there is one.)

After time runs up, voting begins, in private. Conspirators do not vote, as there is no conspiracy against them. Innocents, however, do.

Your options for vote are "no conspiracy" or "conspiracy". If you vote correctly you win, if you don't you lose.

Conspirators win if their conspiracy goes undetected and lose if it does.

Variants on Conspiracy include having multiple innocents, having multiple conspiracies, or having even several levels of conspiracy (most infamously seen in Cook's Lemon Conspiracy, in which there was a Conspiracy against the innocent, but also a Double Conspiracy against one Conspirator, a Triple Conspiracy against one Double Conspirator, and an Ultimate Conspiracy of one person against their partner.)

Until next time, this has been Cook.

I LOVE Conspiracy. Like more than Mafia other than the latter's potential for fun prs. It's so elegant and simple and balance isn't even a concern.
