Welcome to the Library of Atypical Factions thread. This is a role list quite like Grand Idea Mafia and the Deck of Astral Roles. Unlike those two threads, standard factions other than
Town
will not be allowed, as defined below.
Town
is needed for a game to function properly, so it will be allowed.

The Library of Atypical Factions game is a custom Grandest Idea Mafia (Greatest Idea Mafia rules, but with a Grand Idea Mafia esque deck) with only non-standard groupscum and third parties. There will be 1000 roles in this thread. This can be used with the Deck of Astral Roles for an Astral Multiverse game.

I am willing to relax this.

Ideally you should list the alignment / role split in your posts. This is being used for a game where the alignment / role split is vital.

I ideally want a
Town
majority (at least 501 townies) in this deck to avoid problems with having a
Town
majority in LoAF games. There are currently 41 to my knowledge.

I recommend having no more than 40 alignment changing roles. There are currently 5 to my knowledge.

The following abilities are unlocked for your faction permanently if these conditions are met.
If there are more than 4 Astral Creatures alive the requirements for the other conditions are reduced by 1(which is bad for your faction, not good)
If there are 3 or less Astral Creatures alive your faction gains a PT.
If there are 3 or less Astral Creatures alive your faction gains a factional Roleblock(at night)
If there are 2 or less Astral Creature alive the target of your factional Roleblock is nightkilled(This is not a combined ability).
You win when all threats to the Astral Creatures are dead and at least one Astral Creature is alive. Town and Astral Creatures are not threats to each other.

You have a factional action. It has the effects of a Voyeur on odd nights and the effects of a nightkill on even nights.
You have another day factional action you may use the same cycle. It adds Conspirators or people masquerading as Conspirators to the factional PT. It takes effect at the end of the day. This is a targeted action. If your target is not of the faction they had at the beginning of the game both the acting Conspirator and the target will die instead.
At the start of the game, up to 3 Conspirators get a factional PT as follows:
Give the first and second Conspirator access to the factional PT.
The third Conspirator does not get access to the factional PT. A town-aligned person(randomly chosen) masquerades themselves as conspirator if no other role would masquerade as Conspirator.
The fourth Conspirator gets access to the factional PT if there are exactly four Conspirators. Otherwise, not.
The rest of the conspirators does not get access to the factional PT.
The people having access to the factional PT are the leaders of the faction and control the factional action by vote.
They are also informed about the identity of other conspirators and all people masquerading as conspirators, but only by getting their names in a single list(so they do not know who is a real conspirator and who is not)
Warning:Your factional action can be used by people masquerading themselves as Conspirators!

Win Condition:You win when all threats to the conspirators are eliminated and at least one Conspirator survives.

Role:Conspirator Mask
If you are a conspirator you cannot gain access to the factional PT at the beginning of the game.
You appear in the Conspirator list in the Conspirator PT and might gain access to the Conspirator PT.

Hydra Vanilla
(Hydra Alignment / Vanilla Role)

A Hydra is an independent alignment capable of growing multiple heads by targeting players and consuming them into the Hydra's main body, absorbing not only the players themselves, but also their roles and win conditions.

Essentially, a Hydra aligned player starts off under a Hydra account by himself and every time they consume a target, the slot vanishes and shares the Hydra account with the main player. The targets also bring with them the roles (can multitask) and win conditions to the hydra body. Hydra may end up with multiple win conditions to pick from.

The Hydra wins when they fulfill one of those win conditions.

Only the main head of the Hydra will show in the player list and they share 1 vote total.

If the Hydra is killed, all heads die, losing the game.


Factional Action: Every night, you may target a player to consume them regardless of alignment and role. This action counts as a visit and can be detected, it however cannot be role blocked.

Specter Thanatos
(Specter alignment / Thanatos role)

The Specters are a groupscum faction that starts off with 1 or 2 players (similar to the cult leader) and are dead. Yes! They start off in the graveyard where they must remain until they have collected the souls of 1/4 minus 1 of the total players to win the game. In example, if the game started with 21 players, then 4 souls must be collected to win.

The Specters have a factional “Sleep Paralysis” action that they can target a player that is alive with. Players under sleep paralysis cannot perform any night actions, they cannot communicate in PTs that night and they are informed of what types actions they are targeted by (excluding those from specters). If a player is killed while under “Sleep Paralysis, their soul is collected by the Specter faction, joining them in the graveyard.

During the day you have the factional vote action. You can select a player to have an extra vote for that day. This vote is not announced that is coming from your faction.

Specters can never perform kill actions.

If a Specter is targeted by a player with an ability to interact with the dead or are resurrectedby living players, the entire faction loses the game.

Thanatos
: Every night, you may target a player that is still alive to redirect their action to the player under sleep paralysis.

Fulfiller is an independent alignment whose win condition is tied to fulfilling a mission. If such mission is not fulfilled for whatever reason, they lose. If fulfillers rand vanilla the mod may assign them another alignment (or a Fulfiller attached to a role with no special Fulfiller mission gets a mission from the moderator).

If you rand this role everyone (except you) starts the game vanillaized. The mod will announce that everyone has been vanillalized.

You have the power to enable a role type during the day phases for the rest of the game (by posting one of the youtube songs from the list bellow), activating roles that were randed to the other players during pregame.

Faction:Third party-Alignment Determinator: At night you may choose a player and an alignment. If that alignment is correct, you get a point. If it is incorrect, you get a strike. Your factional action isn't targeted(cannot be redirected) and cannot be prevented. It resolves before kills. This action can be used whilst dead. If you are alive the points you get are doubled. You cannot choose the same alignment for the same player more than once. If the member of an alignment you guessed kills you you lose one point and gain one strike.
If you are executed(by town vote) you lose two points and gain two strikes.

You cannot join the Dead PT.


You win and leave the game if you have six points at the end of the day, or at endgame.
You lose and leave the game if you get three strikes.

On Night 0 or if a player becomes an Assassin through any means other than being Marked for Death, the Assassin chooses a player. That player becomes Marked For Death. If the total number of players who are assassins or marked for death is fewer than three, the marked player then chooses another player to become Marked for Death. If there are three or more total players who are either Marked for Death or Assassins, the marked player is assigned a random assassin or Marked for Death player as their chosen player, and is informed of their identity.

At the beginning of every Night after the pregame, all marked for death players become assassins if there is a living Assassin in the game, losing all other win conditions.

An assassin wins if their chosen player is eliminated or killed. An assassin loses and exits the game if their target exits the game for any other reason.

Commuter is a standard role, go to the damn wiki.

You should definitely use that text for commuter's abilities if this role is rolled by a moderator.

Edited for clarity and to limit the number of assassins in a given game.

Edited again to delay the alignment change to N1.

That One Slot That Keeps Replacing (Replacing / Vanilla)

Every VOICE OF MOD: , the mod will announce that your slot is in need of replacement. Instead of being replaced, you will lose the ability to post in the game thread and the mod will search out a player to join your slot. You will be able to privately communicate with all other occupants of your slot in this thread: [link]. You may not publicly discuss your impending replacement, as that is against the rules. You win if you are eliminated at any point while the mod is searching for a replacement for your slot.

You are a member of the Mysterious Electricians, and win when all threats to the Mysterious Electricians have been eliminated.
All Mysterious Electricians are constantly charged with a Mysterious Energy, and are informed of what it does. If another role does not automatically define what Mysterious Energy does, then the moderator may define what it does.
Mysterious Electricians have two factional abilities, and both may be performed at the same time, but not by the same player.
The two factional abilities that Mysterious Electricians are the following:
During the night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will charge a player with Mysterious Energy.
During the night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, you will discharge a player of Mysterious Energy.

You have no other special abilities.

Troll Vanillla
(Troll / Vanillla)

Troll is an independent third party that wins when they have converted every player that remains alive to a different third than their own at least once. You lose when you can't obtain your wincon or you ended up targeting yourself with your factional for some reason. Trolls cannot co-exist in the same game, so they have to be converted for you to win.

Factional:
Every night you may target a player to convert them to a third party faction of your choice (that exists in the DoAR multiverse). You also passively convert your visitors to a random third party.


Vanillla:
The three Ls is not a typo. You cannot die during the day by any means. You cannot be protected or commuted in the night by any means.

If groupscum or masons are converted they will keep their old wincon along with the new one.

Octoshot Octoling Reduxx
(Octarian Elite Reduxx / Octoshot)

You are a member of the Octarian Army, and win when all threats* to the Octarians have been defeated.
The Octarian army does does have any factional abilities, but does issue a standardized Octoshot to all Octolings. Other weapons may also be issued if deemed fit.

During the night you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be inked, which will roleblock them while they are inked. If a player is already inked, or another player is also inking them, they will die.

If a player is inked for more than 2 cycles, they will stop being inked.
If a player does not act while inked, they will stop being inked.


*threats do not include: The Nowt, Salmon, any player who would submit to your
oppressive
force.
