He was probably waiting to see whether the lynch was inevitable. Bussing doesn't always work the way you're saying it does.

On the 5th day everyone was on edge. Town and the Wolf knew they had to lynch a member of the Mafia to prevent a takeover.
Hiraki and Infinity emerged as the likely candidates after a brief look at Umlaut, but several hours passed without any real movement on a decision.
One of the residents woke up from his nap and quickly made a choice. Two others followed and a majority was reached.

I liked this setup, it really kept me engaged. Even at the end I never felt like we could just coast to victory.
