Just a question though Clemency, do you always active lurk? I was too lazy to check your other games to see if this is normal behavior for you.
this was my first game as scum since what i like to call "becoming competent", though
i was slightly uncomfortable and i feel i played somewhat different to how i play town so
then again i'd have trouble as town too against these playstyles

Radiant I had a hunch, but Keyser and Aster were very like "either way" for me. Other townies would either need to town it up or I would need to study a lot their games to go there.

Clemency's playstyle is a weakness of mine, I always say "I'm lynching you if you don't do anything" but always get distracted by the active players later on...

It was a harsh game to town though, lots of lurking and disengagement from townies, but scum team definitely played well here in my opinion.

Oh I see why. I called the first two lynches if Gamma flipped town.

So I think this setup is swingy more than unbalanced.

A day 1 scum flip would give town 3 lynches to get one association right, or more if scum want to kill.
A day 1 town flip makes the town at less than a third of the players with no interactions and no PRs

You should add in two masons with a factional kill lmfao

Then those don’t count towards the two lynches town needs but gives them associative tells.

I personally think that the game setup is seriously biased in favour of mafia. Four scum players is seriously powerful, and we don't even have any pesky cops to boot. "Two lynch is lose" sounds like a compensation until you remember that all scum's advantages help them not get lynched in the first place.

Town doesn't seem to have a reasonable chance at winning the game unless the scumteam seriously screws up, which unfortunately for town didn't happen.

I want to note that even though this was a harsh setup that scum did play really well.

Why I didn’t push Aster after that vote switchup I don’t know but that’s on me. I was an idiot for pushing Gamma for someone else’s vote.

By the way, I'd like to congratulate Nibbui for being the best townie by a long shot.

I'd also like to thank RadiantCowbells for winning the game for us, you were definitely the best scummer.

I mean, for me it's very situational.

If all the players in the scum team have a good or average scum game, it's kind of mafia sided if they minimally organize themselves.

But if there's weak links in the scum team, it's town sided, and that's why we ended up winning the past Open Flag.

It depends on how town play as well. It's swingy but I wouldn't call necessarily that much biased for mafia.

I particularly like the setup because it's fun to wonder what is the scum team plan since there are so many scum.

i will say that red flag is swingy in terms of the randomization of the scumteam in that the scumteam is in some sense only as strong as their weakest player, as i think is best exemplified by the previous run of the setup

the game does become overly focused on day one then, however, as lynching scum day one is a huge boost to town whereas if the weakest scum player manages to survive day one they can be killed

^ Goods points.

I didn't play in the last Red Flag, but I was scum in Open 715: White Flag and I agree with the sentiment "the scumteam is in some sense only as strong as their weakest player"

coincidentally, I avoided two town wagons as scum in that game lol - just like this one!

but yes, town has to either get extremely luck and lynch scum - preferably the strongest scum - on D1
