Yeh, I think there was a lot of commitment to murderkitty because they both like him

Gamma and murdercat had just won a game as scum where the team stuck together and defended each other, maybe they were hoping to repeat the same strategy here? I've no idea. Defending his teammate as the bomb just dug the scum into a hole that was impossible to get out of because it turned attention on him and then they had to scramble to save gamma. Kind of dirty for gamma to sub out there.

And tbh I think it’s kind of easier repping into a slot when you’re basically totally lost than one where you’re very lost but it could maybe be saved

I personally feel a lot more pressure to tryhard in the latter and then it’s shitty bc you do still prob lose. Whereas here the game was so lost I didn’t feel too stressed about trying which was lucky bc things IRL were kinda rough for a couple of day’s and so I also just wasn’t able to

why in the world did both scum defend MC?

The games in which it's correct to bus d1 are very rare--I planned to hard defend murder at some point but there wasn't much to hard defend him on, and it was an usually sluggish game in terms of wagon movement which I underestimated
