RULES (inspired by the rule sets of Faraday, Maestro, and Nexus):

General Behavioral Expectations:
• All site-wide rules are to be followed. They can be found here. Rules here are also in effect. Important points are:
o Personal attacks on any basis are prohibited. Excessive vulgarity will also be stomped upon. When in doubt, err on the side of being civil and respectful.
o Play to your win condition.

Game Play, Voting, Lynching, and Night Actions:
• Do not quote mod communications anywhere in the thread.

This is my bolded color

so do not use it for any purposes, particularly impersonating me.
• When placing a vote, it is not necessary to unvote first or to put your vote on a new line. However, votes must be submitted in bold like this:

VOTE: penguin_alien

or like this: VOTE: penguin_alien. I will accept any votes in these formats so long as I can tell the intended target from the abbreviation used.
• Lynches (or decisions to no-lynch) require a majority of votes.
• Discussion may continue in twilight.
• Once you are killed, do not post in the game thread. This includes ‘Bah!’ posts.
• Night actions may be PMed to me or posted in bold in the appropriate QTs. If you know you will be V/LA during the night phase, you may send in a conditional night action in advance.

Activity Parameters and Mod Communication:
• Prods will be sent out by PM to players who have not posted within the past 48 hours. Players receiving prods have 36 hours to post before I will start looking for a replacement. If the day ends before you can respond in-thread, you must PM me within the allotted time.
• Three prods in one game day phase or four prods overall will result in my replacing you.
• Day phases will last two weeks. Night phases will last two days.
• While you are welcome to post about any issues that arise in the thread (use bold to get my attention, please) you may also PM me concerning any problems. Use your best judgment here, and I will endeavor to do the same. This also applies to issues with me/my modding or other players.
• If you go on V/LA, please PM me.
• Alterations to these rules will be announced in-thread and PMed to all players in the event they become necessary either due to unforeseen circumstances or my own oversights.

Opening Flavor:

A large comet has entered the solar system. (While not visible what with its tail and coma, said comet looks oddly like a penguin) Trailing in its wake is a seemingly happy cluster of meteoroids. Yet all is not well amidst the group! Some of their number scheme to shine more brightly, to clear the space around themselves. Two particularly dense meteoroids (nickel and iron composition, wouldn’t you know) plot to throw off their compatriots into the bright star they can see in the distance. Another two, ethereal meteoroids mostly comprised of ice, have plans to nudge other, more robust meteoroids off to spin into the depths of space.

Yet all is not lost! The meteoroids are prepared to fight back against the conniving duos. One of their number is prepared to provide protection in the darkest hours. And their combined sense of purpose may be rallied regularly to send one of their number away to crash into that object orbiting the third planet in the system.

As the comet enters the system, oblivious to the discord in its wake, the meteoroids mobilize...

Meteoroids are pieces of matter floating through space that are too small to be asteroids. They produce meteors as they fall into the atmosphere, and once they make it through the atmosphere they are designated meteorites.

Day One Lynch Flavor:

The meteoroids jostle for position, careening off one another in various directions at times before reestablishing their places behind the comet. But as time passes, they find one among their number who doesn't fit. A suspicious hunk of rock. Assembling around it, they nudge experimentally, then strike harder. Pushing it out of the group, a mighty effort sends it barreling off toward the moon of a blueish planet near the system's star. Together they watch it land, a meteorite destined to be forever grounded on the satellite, a cold hunk of nickel and iron.

Night One Flavor:

Many of the meteroids, content with the day’s work, take no further notice of their fellows. They assume that the successful expulsion of dragonfly marked an end to the disharmony. But all was not well.

Two delicate meteoroids, their ice crystal structures glinting faintly, conspired to expel a nearby meteoroid, an unassuming piece of rock. It took only a slight nudge to send the poor fellow careening off into the cold depths of space.

Meanwhile, the lone nickel-iron meteoroid was left to fly solo. Not dissuaded, a target was selected—a delicate meteoroid that, with the proper forces applied, was sent spiraling into the sun. The crystalline meteoroid vanished without so much as a whimper.

Muttering amongst themselves, the meteoroids decided to take a break from thinning out their own numbers. Halfway to their goal of eliminating the anomalous meteoroids, surely they would have a respite from the expulsions in the ensuing period of darkness.

But it was not to be. While most meteoroids were sailing along with no nefarious intentions, one of their fellows just had to stir the pot. A tap, a shove, and another unremarkable chunk of rock goes hurtling off into the distance.

The penguin-shaped comet was heading out of the system, trailed by a much-diminished field of meteoroids. While one ordinary hunk of rock drifted along serenely, his fellows were less inclined to passivity.

Carefully, precisely, the delicate crystalline ice meteoroid and the dense iron-nickel meteoroid squared off. Unnoticed by any other parties, they aligned themselves, each planning to knock the other away from the much-diminished group. With the last of their momentum, they hurtled toward one another.

Crash!

The collision preserved momentum. Shards of ice hurtled rapidly toward the sun. The iron lump found himself slowly but irreversibly drifting off into the blackness of space, away from the comet. Neither meteoroid would achieve his goal.

Many thanks to everyone for playing. I appreciate those of you who were here from the start and the many replacements who volunteered to help out in such timely fashion. I also greatly appreciated the high level of civility throughout. Special thanks to those players who helped me figure out tags used in modding and caught my errors quickly.

This was an interesting game to watch. I really thought the scum weren't long for this world when Day Two started with both scum teams cut in half. It seemed like the town was closing in on them. And somehow they survived for a good long while. The town had some nice moves too, especially the uctriton00 protection. Since, y'know, he was the one who survived in the end...

I hesitated to discount Klick's Night Four kill, but deadline was many hours past before he sent in his action, and it wouldn't have been fair to count it. I'm not sure how much difference it would have made, as it would have been a repeat of Day Four, but I had to stick to the rules. If I mod again, I'd probably have a 24-hour warning of deadline sent to all players regardless of roles to keep me from worrying about whether people remember the deadline.

I would welcome any criticism of my modding practices.
