The only thing I hate more than meta-reads is when people make up meta-reads. Take a look at those marathon games I was in. My posting was not sparse nor was I particularly angry in them. I was scum in all of them. And yet she says I'm "more sparse and angry as scum" despite having no town games to relate that to. So really, she was just describing me this game: "sparse and angry". Which, fine, I can accept being scumread for that. But since you've actually found a difference between those marathon games and this game, and I was scum in all of those games, it stands to reason that if anything, your metaread should be that I'm town here. Because I'm acting different than how I acted when I was scum.

Meta continues to be a bad way to read someone, ESPECIALLY when you're not in games with that person and didn't get to experience it first hand. But Klingoncelt went a step further and tried to frame my meta as an excuse to scumread me when that defies all logic. She made a statement that implies knowledge she could not possibly have. She made a logical leap that I don't believe a person with pure intentions would ever ever make. Obviously a difficult read. Just felt like noting how in 249, 251, and 253 Kain complains about people vanishing when he disappears for days at a time himself frequently.

The only time he gives a reason (that doesn't amount to "they're suspicious" or "evil player" when he votes is 373 and it's still impossibly basic. He's not exactly fluff since his posts do seem to suggest scumhunting but the only progression is his read on Creature. In 60 he votes Creature (previous posts sited him being agitated) but by 246 he's saying Creature is probably town.

KainTepes, could you explain what specifically changed in Creature's play/your read on him to switch from scumreading him to townreading him?

381 looks like a PR claim maybe..?? And if it is I have to say I'm inclined believe it. Scum fakeclaiming this early is rare (in my experience at least; if it's a lot more common around here I'd appreciate someone letting me know), even from a player like KT.

Conclusion: Null. May be able to sort him a bit if he answer's my question (though I doubt it'll help too much in retrospect) and possibly if he clarifies the PR claim.

This slot is scum. I've tried to make it clear in my dialog with them what I'm asking them for and their continued dodging my questions just makes me more convinced. Since I've already addressed my thoughts on their reads on me I'll focus elsewhere here first.

271 is her reads list. Curious that she provides zero reasons whatsoever in this but claims it has a basis (ISO reads from other games). I wish they would expand more on their gut read on KT from 282 since I've seen Kain as thoroughly unreadable. Since there's nothing to ISO them on, this feels like possible posturing for down the line when he comes up as the "easy" lynch. After all, you look much better jumping on a bandwagon if you can prove you scumread him 500 posts ago. I know; I do that as scum all the time.

To summarize my thoughts on the back-and-forth with her. In 390 she refuses to continue the discussion despite having not answered my questions. This is plain and simple dodging. I asked her to point out my fluff posts from this game and she never did. She's also yet to explain where in the Marathon games I was "sparse and angry" because I don't believe I was either of those things in any of those games. This is seriously scum trying to worm their way out of being caught making up a read and if this town lets it slide by I'll be really upset.

The only clarification I'd like from her regarding other things in her ISO is Masquerade. This is her strongest scumread from her ISO's but we've had no reasons.

Klingoncelt, could you please explain your scumread on Masquerade? Even if it's meta, I want specifics. Not just "meta" or "gut".

My initial vote on them was primarily RVS. I wanted to try an RVS vote (beyond the very very beginning vote) with some plausibly relevant basis to spark discussion. The whole tryhard thing did ping me somewhat but that might of been wishful thinking/conf bias. In re-reading, it's null at best.

There's not much good to read here. I like 48 where they're expressing frustration at Ranger being so vague. That's a subtle hint of town motivation. Their reads in 188 are fair. Reading TheSoldier as town for having the same opinion as them is naive but not an alignment tell. Their read on me for not trying is fine.

Really liked 374 because she's questioning someone who votes with her. 383 on the other hand could be town but it's a very slight scumlean on just that individual post because I find scum are usually very quick to discredit town when they townread each other. Could be genuine meta though.

403 where Masquerade suggests acryon mixed up this thread and the PT is a hilarious stretch but one of those accusations I don't think scum would normally have the balls to make.

Really disliked them early. Fluffposting and then 202 and 203 neither of which I liked. The whole "you could only make a case on Ranger??" actually read to me like the exact opposite; they chose to make a case on Ranger who seemed like the least obvious choice to me. And then he says...

If you like his vote better than the Creature circlejerk why are you voting him..? Feels like possibly inconsistency? Also just felt a general disconnect in tone which I voted on earlier. Think I explained it a bit in 230.

270 is alright; zef gave a huge amount of content the previous page so I can believe a read flipping.

Beyond that their posting is light commentary on me vs Klingon which doesn't tell me much. I strongly dislike their vote in 364 especially ince there was very little explanation, just two quotes which to me didn't say much.

Reubus could you please clarify why you placed the vote on Masquerade? Do you scumread them for lack of content? (That seems to be what you're suggesting)

Not much to read here. Early posts a bit waffly/passive, such as 50 and 51. 171 felt very much like I was reading a townplayer without him having to explicitly say he's town. It was an unconscious implication. 185 was also solid, since scum tend to be more stubborn than this. It was a really good post but it was only one post. As a whole I believe the playstyle he lays out in 170. Really though I think my read on him is going to hinge on how his vote in 372 develops. I dislike votes where someone effectively says they don't have a reason more than naked votes. I'm curious to see if he can "put his finger on it".

Only 6 posts, one of which is RVS. All the posts are good though IMO. In 201 I like the outted logic. He shoots for Ranger who at least for me would have been the last choice from who the list for who scum would go for. His later posts are all really logic heavy and while I don't necessarily 100% with all the logic (I guess I'll cross that bridge when I ISO them) I don't see scum coming out swinging this hard when he's been this inactive. A lurking scum is trying to fly under the radar and zefiend clearly isn't going for that.

My qualify to this read is that he has so few posts and most were all in a short span of time. There's zero

and that's largely what I try to read based on.

i was just linking the game because i had no completed games besides the marathon games and it occurred to me to do so because of the whole meta-argument.

@SS i guess i can buy that. idk. that's the sort of logic that makes sense on paper but in practice some people are very meticulous and some people just say what comes to mind. these sort of "classic scumtells" and "logical inconsistencies" are things i see scum use to push townies frequently. sometimes town players say weird stuff. the best thing you can do is try to get a feel if someone is being honest and real with what they say in general, not picking apart each individual word.

I considered the possibility of being pocketed by Ranger's townread on me came when I was under pretty heavy scrutiny and Masq's post was after I had already said I felt they were town. A lot of SS's reads perplex me (Kain town???) but he said he'll explain them more so I'll give that a by for now.
Liked 572 by MsGreen, others were eh. I really liked posts by the Blue head though. I dislike building meta around players I haven't played with myself, but having played a game with BlueTrin, I'm having flashbacks of my arguments with him in Newbie 1686 where I pushed him as scum.

Willow's 702 and 722 are both poor posts. In 702, toying with the idea of the cop being fakeclaim doesn't come from town motivation imo. Again, kind of feels like she's trying to distance herself from what she feels is the inevitable retract but instead does the opposite. 722 just comes off as somewhat awkward/forced. hoping that's not just me.

I didn't see his fakeclaiming coming hence why I still voted with him, but I have been in a couple games fairly recently with people fakeclaiming as well as PK seeming like the type of player that would be capable of fakeclaiming as town.

Re: Ranger and Masq. Ranger has been playing opportunist with his posting. He was quiet lots of D1 because there wasn't anything easy for him to jump on I don't think. Other points in the game when he feels he is able to sway the town, he will jump in and do so. He makes large posts like 779 to appear town when it's actually just useless right now. I was town the whole time for Ranger up until 627 and turning on me for that one is very dumb because people like to jump on anyone that makes any sort of comment re: the night actions, but it's actually not alignment-indicative. I changed my tune on him at the beginning of D2 based purely on association, which I'm willing to throw out due to how horrible posts like 733 are. "Remember how I said one of {acryon, Willowmeadow} was scum? Well, with that Something_Smart flip, should be obvious that both are." Get real.

For all he knew he could have been hammering a townie based on whether or not he believed PK'd claim. Masquerade is a more recent one and maybe it's honestly a little OMGUSy. His reasons for voting me seem bad and they are actually based on inherently flawed logic.

A scumplayer is a bit more aware of their image in game and hence Ranger might not have wanted to try and fake a lolhammer as scum. I see what you're saying though. I don't really think those posts you pointed to are all that scummy though.

You're right that saying 'this person hasn't done very much' is an easy thing for scum to say about someone coming in. However, as I said, the most noteworthy thing about Kop's presence in this game was that very jarring tack away from the Willow wagon and his subsequent muddled explanation of why he did that. That's a big part of my read there, not simply 'Kop hasn't posted much so is scum'.

Well yeah, no self-respecting scum player would frame their argument as "Kop hasn't posted much so is scum". The willow point isn't bad but I can see that post coming from town too if they haven't been too invested in the game/aren't really dishing out their thoughts.

I'm just putting myself in your shoes, and if I was scum jumping into this game, the first thing I would do is push Kop unless he ended up being my partner. wgeurts on the other had him as town, then marked him down as in his scumpool, then said "scratch that".
