Don't be afraid to express your opinions as a power role / confirmed townie, my standard IC play is to be enough of a pain in the ass to scum that they have to kill me instead of PR hunting a more important role or a townie that they also feel threatened by.

That said also lurking to stay alive longer like you did is viable, your aim then is to collect enough info from what everyone else is saying and around d3 d4 slam the scum-team before you are NK'd.

Copy the style of a townie you enjoyed playing with and thought you could read as town and try it out in your VT games, if it works for you start defining your town meta, if it doesn't try something else until you feel you've found your comfort zone.

Once you have a play-style start looking at how people that are reading others correctly are doing it and assimilate their tells in your game.

I think you did fine, one thing not do to is mention that you are on the chopping block if you are wrong so you want to be extra sure of yourself before you commit (and then fence sit), that reads as either a town newbie tell or as hesitant scum.

In terms of my mental health, I have recovered a bit from when I replaced out. I regret that I couldn't see this through but as it became more psychologically taxing, it became impossible for me to stay.
The sentiment that I'm probably done with playing mafia is still there. I think I'm finally coming to the realization that I'm just not cut out for this game and I don't see myself playing another game in the foreseeable future. At the same time, leaving the site altogether was an overstatement. I'll mod a game if I get a good idea for a setup.
