My thought was that if I suspected somebody of being a mason with a guilty on me I would claim mason with a guilty on them _first_. That way they'd have to claim immediately, and then their partner would have to back them up.

So both would be out in the open, and they couldn't fish for reads from other players before one of them outs the night's results.

The clear drawback would be if I claimed a guilty on somebody who wasn't a mason. Then that'd be a conf!town plus the two masons left. So it'd be really risky gambit. But then again could bank on people thinking it was too ballzy a move for Grendel to lie about. Since I'm generally a cautious player.

I'm a little sad that it seems I missed out on most the post game discussion.

Recruit should happen with either a dead mason or night before lylo.

I would very much disagree w this. In your model, if scum shoot the other mason that night you learn nothing if it hits scum, and "I was recruited" becomes unprovable as a claim. Also scum might well shoot your recruit in which case it becomes wasted, plus simply getting a third head in there is generally useful for ability to solve in mason pt.

Otoh, a n1 recruit gets an early "cop" check, or gets a third mason, when he becomes increasingly powerful as the game progresses.

If scum shoot masons back to back, that's one horror scenario and requires both masons to be obvious. If that's the case, their n1 recruit is obvious.
