I'm universally scum read as any alignment I play, so I don't put much stock into my town reads having me as a scum read. They can still be town.

And why does it not seem to concern you that they both tr me? It's just such an unlikely situation that they are both town and me scum in this spot. Your reads just don't seem to reflect what's happening in the game.

And so, Chickadee found herself surrounded by kindling, tied to a tall wooden stake, its base lodged in the center of the sacrificial altar.

"Why do we even

have

this?" she yelled to the crowd of people before her.

"Honestly I don't remember," said one of her fellow Singles Club members. "I guess when you're single, you have more money to buy stupid shit."

Another voice rang out: "If you were actually single, you would know this!"

The voices grew louder and louder, until their words turned into action, and they ignited the pyre Chickadee was strapped to.

For the first few seconds, they wondered if they had made the correct decision. What if Chickadee really was single?

But then--

"My love!" a voice rang out.

The club members turned around quickly in surprise, for the voice had come from one of them. Their search ended quickly, however, as before long one of their own dashed forward and leaped into the funeral pyre.

It was Oversoul.

"My love," he said, "I told you I would never abandon you, even in death."

"Honestly," said Chickadee, "that was mostly a metaphor. This was probably a bad decision."

Oversoul would've responded, but by then he was dead. And so was Chickadee.

The rest of the singles stared solemnly at what they had done and, eventually, walked away. The front door had been unlocked this entire time.

The cords of love may compel us to do terrible and violent deeds, but who were the true murderers?
