Well, it was me that made a pairings list before i died that George just used without thinking too much about it. (PK literally wasn't there ever since day 3 begun.) And i died before you repped in so Elements was meant to be the pairing to Pops. And yes, it was indeed the obvtown pair slot.

We were both right on Dunnstral!

This is the first game that Dunnstral and I have rolled the same alignment together, after six games opposed! On the momentous occasion, we did not mislynch eachother!

I have mixed feelings about the balance of this setup. If scum sweep, it is 10:3 mountainous. If scum is lynched day one, it's Mike Tyson boxing Jeff Gordon.

Do I want to subject a scumteam I am modding to this game? Probably no. Have I rescued MS from townsided setups if I pull this from the open queue and T-Bone announces that Hope Plus One or something is the next game in the queue? Possibly also no.

Starting point: is it scumsided at 8:3? I don't think it's obvious it is at a minimum.

We toyed with lynching Norway for about 3 days... if we got him straight away would we have gone for pisskop/george quicker ?

Given my scumpool day one was like (Norway/hectic/pisskop/profii/George) I imagine I would have, unless hectic got paired with a very spicy partner. Feel like I had enough strong townreads that the pairing N1 and no kills would have POEd that pairing into range very quickly.

Norway only avoided the lynch due to scum fully pushing the counterwagins' as hard as they could while refusing to bus. That worked surprisingly well in terms of actually stopping what should have been a lynch D2 and more debatabely D1, but was a little suicidal when you consider pairings happening eventually.

My issue with the setup is that you either get

A.) The neighbour thing not really happening until fairly late game and hence a boring game
B.) A townsided game

It's either going to be mountainous which some people aren't particular fans of when they signed up for the mechanic, or it's going to be townsided.

Ideally would probably be a way that makes the pairings guaranteed after say D2 or maybe d1. If scum isn't lynched at that point one of them gets paired with town.

Boring as in the interesting mechanic just doesn't happen. I am more of a fan of mountainous+/open/low pr setups in general.

Fixed dance is probably more meaningful/promising than fixed fusion mafia.

Making people neighbors to eachother when they don't really want to be is a little eugh but what makes it more ok in this setup is that this always happens in a gamestate where the town is 1 lynch away from winning, and if they can identify the exact motives for the unsavory pairing they've gotten maybe they can identify whose responsible and immediately end the game before playing in it very much.

This dynamic is doubly relevant when you do not know the alignment of your lover.

It's worth pointing out that if this setup is Bad because it might not be nonmountainous then so is white flag.

I was ok with the setup - like I knew what I was signing up for before I got involved.
I think scum did well to hang on so long before the pairings which I guess has got to be the priority

Once the pairings happened in my mind I was quite happy that scum was between George/Pisskop or the Flopz/Looker pairing - the problem was someone in the Pops/insomnia pairing said they were never lynching Looker so it was essential we finished the game right there.

It could have gone wrong quite easily
