Welcome to Purgatory

~

You awaken, a low rumbling sounding off in the distance. Looking about with bleary eyes, you see a lifeless landscape of dust and bone. There is a pervasive taste of dryness in the air that scratches your throat and threatens to collapse your lungs. You hear the constant rolling of thunder—emanating from roiling, smoky clouds on the horizon—but if there is lightning, it is hidden. The only source of light is a directionless dull glow that gives you just enough clarity to make out the shadowy details of nearby objects.

Your attention is seized by the eight other shadows that cower beside you in a loose circle, eight humans. They stand around you, drab and dirty, wearing clothes that have seemingly had all the color drained out of them. Nothing immediately seems to link you, no commonality in race, gender, height, or appearance. Making eye contact, you can see the same sense of horror and confusion in their souls as in your own. Without breaking the silence, dawning realization settles over the group. Someone screams.

You are dead; each and every one of you is dead.

V. I am always right, except for when I'm wrong. Bold requests to me either in-topic or via PM if you have a question or think I've made an error.
VI. Once you die you may not post. No "bah" posts.

Spoiler: Voting

I. All votes and unvotes must be in bold or in VOTE: tags. Vote tags are preferable.
II. Votes in spoilers will not be counted.
III. Abbreviations and nicknames are acceptable, as long as I can understand them.
IV. Lynches work based off plurality. They are compulsive. At the deadline, the player with the most votes will be lynched. Ties will be resolved by wagon seniority.
V. Each phase will last 7 real life days.[/spoiler]

Spoiler: Activity

I. You are expected to make at least one game-relevant post every 36 hours. Players who go 36 hours without posting will be prodded.
II. If you are prodded, you have 24 hours to post in-thread. If you do not respond within 24 hours, you will be replaced. Additionally, if I have to prod you 2 or more times, I reserve the right to replace you at my own discretion.
III. Abuse of prod dodges will result in you being replaced at my own discretion.
IV. If you are going to be V/LA, please announce it in thread or PM me. If your V/LA will last 7 days or longer I may be forced to replace you.[/spoiler]

Setup

~

We will be playing

Purgatory

, as designed by Elscouta and Bicephalous Bob.

✦ Instead of Day and Night phases, this setup alternates between Heaven and Hell phases. The game starts with a Hell Phase.
✦ During the Heaven Phase, the players vote to send one player to Heaven. During Hell Phase, the players vote to send one player to Hell.
✦ Alignment is revealed upon being sent to Heaven or Hell.
✦ When 50% of the living players are scum, a Judgment Day occurs. All living players lose the ability to vote. The martyrs (townies sent to heaven) privately vote in the Heaven PT to send a living player to Hell. If the player is town, the Mafia win. If not, the game moves on to a Hell Phase.

Win Conditions:

✦ Town wins if the majority of scum (2) is sent to Hell. Scum wins if the majority of scum (2) is sent to Heaven.

Other Setup Notes:

✦ Only players who are sent to Hell are added to the dead PT.
✦ All scum, whether alive or sent away, can talk to each other at all times in the Mafia PT.
✦ Compulsive plurality lynches! Ties are broken by checking whoever got their last vote first.
