RULES

Voting, lynching, and deadline

1. To vote, bold the words “vote: playername” or use vote tags.
2. Though not strictly necessary, it is appreciated if you unvote before voting someone else.
3. It takes the votes of half of the living players, either plus 1 or rounded up, to lynch.
4. Once the final vote has been cast, no further unvotes or votes will be counted.
5. If you have been lynched, you may make one “bah” post the next day, as long as it does not say anything game related. In addition, if you've been lynched, you may continue to talk until I post the lynch scene.
6. Day deadline will be 10 days, with possible exceptions for replacements.
7. If no majority has been reached at deadline, there will be no lynch.
8. Night deadlines will be 48 hours, unless someone is replaced, in which case I shall make an extension.
9. If you go without posting for 72 hours without providing advance notice of it(I don't check the V/LA thread), I will prod you. You then have 48 hours to respond. If you don't, I will replace you.

10. This is a game. Be respectful and have fun. Yes, you should play to win, but in my opinion, having fun is more important.
11. Do not post in small sizes, post in colors that blend in with the forum background, or in any way try to hinder the legibility of your posts. Also do not in any way encrypt messages or make it so a code or keyword must be known to understand the message.
12. Do not communicate about this game outside of this thread, unless otherwise stated in your role PM.

I am ICEninja, back from a short hiatus, and I am here to catch scum. I'll be doing so slightly differently than my meta would suggest is typical behavior of me, as I am attempting to apply a slightly different theory to this game.

I'm going to attempt to convey the same information, reads, and cases while using significantly less words, and in formats that are easier to read.

Obviously this won't have a huge impact on the first 3 or so pages, but I'm sure you'll notice the difference.

Err... I was kind of excited to hear this unorthodox new method ICE was going to use to scumhunt and I was going to call 'em town for it because scum is never as experimental as town. But now I'm just wondering why you told us at all. I don't mean to belittle your recent experiences and stuff but I fail to see how life-changing events translate to using less words in a mafia game. And I do find it a bit odd that you mentioned it as it seems like it's something we're not likely to even notice. Did you think we would find it scummy that you used less words to explain yourself? Also, what new theory were you talking about?

I sure seem to have gotten a lot of attention for an offhand remark pointing out that I would be playing different than my past games would suggest.

My vote is serious now. Retrospective is as scummy as I've seen on page 1.

Primary reason

: Using a waffling "I was going to call this town but now I think it's scum" comment. Town wouldn't bother saying it was initially town in appearance, scum benefits from looking like they have a thoughtful town read without actually having to have a town read.

Supporting reason

: Fixating on a point that has nothing to do with alignment.

: Subtly attacking the player voting him without laying down a vote. Discrediting, perhaps?

Emphasis mine. It is subtle, but you make it fairly clear that you don't feel it was town. Perhaps it is a stretch to say you called it scummy, but I definitely see an undertone.

I think I disagree with both of you.

1. I disagree with retro because I think scum have more incentive to change meta which is why I made my first response to him. If you have a clear meta that can be pointed to, that is in your advantage as town.

2. I disagree with ICE because I just read retro as saying they were going to give you a super town read, but now they aren't.


I do find any discussion of ones own meta if not brought up by the others to be suspicious, but not gg we found scum level of suspiciousness by any means.

You're being completely ridiculous. It doesn't matter if you think there was some implied undertone when my next post specifically stated that there wasn't. Did scum me freak out that I somewhat implied less words equates to scum and backstep? And tell me why would I be trying to discredit your vote on me for? It was obvious RVS and am I suppose to be afraid that you voted me for calling making fun of Regfag? This is the last I'm replying to this train of thought. I actually agree with ICE about Retro's comment. Although he never explicitly went out and said that ICE is scummy for pointing out changes in meta, it seemed to me at least that the tone was pretty clear. Phrases like what ICE bolded as well as "I do find it a bit odd" suggest that he finds ICE suspicious but doesn't want to come right out and say it. However, I don't think that necessarily makes Retro himself scummy. He sounds cautious, but I would attribute that more to the fact that his reasoning isn't strong enough to support an actual accusation, or at least not yet.

As for ICE's meta change, it's not enough to make me feel especially convinced one way or another, but adjusting his posting style to facilitate town discussion would seem more town than scum to me.
