Hopefully the method below will be useful. It's my method of learning both mafia and chess and it has been really useful to me so far. If you ever reach a situation that wasn't covered, you're free to PM me as it could actually take forever to cover everything. In post 3050, Titus wrote:

After or during a game, decide if something better could have been done if particular situation to reach your win-con. Apply it when the conditions are similar and the win-con is the same. If it ever fails you, compare the situations. If there aren't any differences between the situations, decide which course of action was better and use the course of action that is better next time.- RyanK

Looks like a good way to fuck yourself over. What works in 9p games won't work in 32p games. What works against House won't work against Titus. In post 3052, RyanK wrote:Looks like an algorithm for artificial inteligence to me. I won't like my computer to start thinking and turn against me for making it do lots of work though.
What you need to do is derive the general principle that underpins the strategy and use it. If camn fakehammers to bait mafia, don't think that fakehammering is a great move that catches mafia. It is the principle of "baiting the mafia with false information to provoke them into revealing themselves" that underpinned it. Understand this, and a lot of options will be open to you; for example, you might start a wagon on an obvious target to provoke mafia into leaping on eagerly. Or you might claim to scumread X so strongly that you'll quickhammer him during LyLo, and see who tries to set up a 1v1 between you and X in LyLo.
By thinking deeper, you will find yourself able to adapt, granting you far more versatility. There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.

Winning at mafia has various logical underpinnings which can be measured many ways based on many variables.
One could say facetiously that it is as simple as:
1. Be good at mafia.
2. Don't be bad at mafia.
Or ... one could say it is a mixture of drawing the right alignment and having the right teammates and knowing what the optimal play is for each situation and knowing how to use any power role you might have to its optimum usefulness and being in the right place at the right time with the right teammates and being active enough but not too active and reading each and every single one of the opposing players' personalities and playing in a way that will make the greatest amount of them town read you at any given juncture and being accurate in your scumreads as well as charismatic enough to get people to sheep your reads but also nonthreatening enough to avoid nightkills so you can give town your best guesses at the most critical moments while also avoiding stepping on anyone else's toes or rubbing large personalities the wrong way regardless of your or their alignment all while following all the rules and not alienating your significant other for being on the computer or your phone too often and also being covert enough not to get the site blocked on your workplace's internet provider... and that's just scratching the surface.
There's a reason I've been playing this long.
It is incredibly interesting, imperfect yet intrinsically, intimately intricate, and impossibly, inexplicably inimitable.
It's worth studying... and studying well. It'll teach you a lot about people. It'll teach you a lot about yourself.- House

It's a tumblr stereotype. Any discussion short of a complete circlejerk, regardless of context, is a "roast" or "shittalk". That's where I got the "when" format and the abbreviations(u and some1).In post 3063, House wrote:
