The Rules

1. All rules from this post apply here too.
2. Don't directly quote any game-related PMs I've sent you. Paraphrasing is OK.
3. Don't intentionally obfuscate your messages; cryptography, tiny text, and the like are not allowed.
4. Provable randomness, such as dice tags, is banned.
5. Treat your fellow users with respect. As a cool guy on this site once said, "Attack the play, not the player".
6. Don't pretend to be the mod.

7. Each in-game day will last 14 days and each in-game night will last 2 days.
8. Players that haven't posted with game-advancing content for 48 hours will be prodded. If a player is prodded and doesn't post within 24 hours of the prod, I will look for a replacement for that slot. If a player receives three prods, they will be replaced. If you're in V/LA, you are exempt from the above rules for the duration of your V/LA. You must announce the V/LA either in-thread or in a PM to me.
9. If a player is voted for by a majority (1/2 of the living players, rounded up), they are lynched and removed from the game. After a lynch, all living players may post until the thread is locked: this time is called Twilight.
10. Votes will be counted if they are placed by the vote tag or in bold, and are recognizable as votes. Don't abuse this rule for vote trickery. Examples of these votes:

11. If a player wants to end the day without a lynch, they may vote for "No Lynch". If a majority votes for No Lynch, the night will start early. If there is no majority vote by the deadline, no lynch will take place that Day.
12. Every player will have a Role, dictating what they can do during the night, if anything. Here's a sample PM for the role "Vanilla Townie".

Hello guys. When given the chance I often try to open my games via unconventional means. Which on this site means I won't RVS. I have nothing against it personally, its just overdone, and I wanna explore new things.

Instead I'd like to try something I'm calling the "D1 study buddy". As the name implies I'll buddy up with somebody I find interesting. I'll treat my new buddy as if they were conf!town until the first day steers toward its lynch, at which point we can pull back and reassess our reads on each other. Now I know you must be asking "what's the point of this excise"? Its mainly a means of creating an open path of conversation between me and my buddy, we exchanges thoughts and ideas on the game freely. Bouncing ideas off each other. Over all try to combines our wits to solve the game!

"Is this an effective method of opening your game?" you ask, well... I don't really know. This is the first time I've tried opening my game like this. But I'm optimistic!

I generally look for someone i know talks a lot and discuss ideas and speculations with that person while others can listen to it and argue if they disagree on something or agree with me/us. Its basically a way to keep the game going when you play with people that like to listen more then arguing.

Elaborate?

1. If you wanted genuine results, you shouldn't have made it official.
2. There's literally no reason to treat somebody as obvtown at this point, you can still "bounce your ideas" off people.
3. Focusing on communication with a single person isolates the others and makes buddying look ok.

I really fail to see any benefits of this. This could only work if you had a PT with someone.

Creating a townbloc is fine but involving a random person seems like a wrong approach.

Hmm i think you got a point. If you choose a random person at the start you might end up with someone that isnt really active and the idea is ruined.
On the other hand it might motivate the chosen player to be more active dont you think so?
