Consider the options, then consider why it's being claimed, then consider whether or not it's true, and if it is, what alignment would have that kind of role.

Basically... he is either lying or telling the truth, and either town or scum.

If he's lying scum, the fake claim is obvious motivation wise. Claim it early, it's like a miller claim but doesn't actively impact his game. There will always be people who look at that and go "oh that sounds cool, probably town for claiming it right?" and that's just off mark.
If he's lying town, it's a gambit and he'll inform us later. In that case, my opinion can change when and if I see the gambit do anything. Scum could pretend to be "gambiting" too.
If he's scum and is telling the truth, he's got a positive passive. It means that the town never knows when lylo is, because they do not know how many scum have been lynched by a magnitude of 1 dead body.
If he's town and is telling the truth, same thing, in reverse. He's a town liability.

It is, yea. Only on lynch though. It is an impairment, albeit a minor one. I/we plan on obv towning and forcing scum to kill us, so don't worry about that. There's more to our role I'm not claiming, but this is the relevant / antitown part.

Ok, so then second question:

Town, knowing that your role is anti-town to lynch unless they are certain you are scum aren't likely to lynch you as a result of the claim, generally. Or rather, it's not an optimal EV play to do so, agreed?

So in my mind, it's like, there's a lot of scum motivation to claim that role.

But considering it more, there's also town motivation to claim it, like I dunno I jsut have a hard time believing any townie would be stuck THAT negative a role

It's not a Vi game, but there's always the risk for there to be a player who interacts with knowing the flavour identity of a person.

Beyond that, given I believe the role abilities are flavour tied to the character selected, it gives town potential to guess and narrow their shots a bit better.

So I'm against it. The only positive is that it locks people down into claims now, because they can't claim something that wouldn't fit their character, but I suspect the scum will be given safeclaim stuff to avoid this?

honestly the lack of vote thing is kind of killing my desire to play a bit, since it makes it a lot harder to actually pressure and do shit.

Like I was trying to get into it when that claim came down and I was like "oh yeah, this could be scum" but now I'm p. sure it's not and it's solved so I'm just like... yeah.

how often do you ever move your vote more than once every 48 horus though? aren't you usually a tunnelly player?

I move my vote frequently in the early stages of games. I do so to find pressure and create things for me to see.

Later in games I become more confident in my reads and tend to move my vote less. Also, I've been known to hard scum read someone late into day 1 and stick on that vote forever, given that I don;t want to compromise.

But yeah, I use my vote a lot in my game.

I can't really explain it but LLD seems extremely slightly town. Just their lack of control on the game. I don't have RF/N_M's claim. An action N1 targeted both of us which I'm pretty certain makes him Town. This action MIGHT have come from Town and is therefore NAI, and it MIGHT have come from scum, but like 4 times out of 5 this is scum targeting two Townies.

and I get that burden of competence is a thing, but this game has been incredibly frustrating for me because I can't apply pressure how I want to and I'm a bit restricted.
