phpBB question:
This chess mod isn't going to transfer to the updated forum. How long will you guys
realistically
need to wrap this game up?

We probably have less than two weeks before the forum changeover. Mr. Black said that you probably have (at least) 6-12 weeks of gameplay left. I've been looking for offsite options to keep the game going, and http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor.html looks pretty solid. It allows me to paste in the PGN notation from the first post and doesn't try to let a computer play or anything stupid. It doesn't save the game state between loadings, but we can work around that with PGN.

So long as you don't need the board for anything but looking at, we can certainly keep this game going after the forum upgrade. I'm open to other ideas for sites to 'host' your game if you know of any that meet the neutral criteria listed above (feel free to PM me rather than clutter your game thread).

I am in no way trying to stop or abort the game. I can not state with confidence, however, that the current chess.php engine will be available under the new forum, so I want to make sure you all have options available.

I'm aware that "6-12 weeks" was probably an underestimate; the important part
for me
was the "definitely more than 2 weeks" part.

I have unlocked the thread for Mr. Black since modding rights are
screwed up
'quirky' right now, and pasted an image capture of the game into the first post. I used http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor.html and pasted in the PGN from the first post; should work okay for the slow pace of this game. If Mr. Black wants to contact me with a different chess board to use/capture, that's fine, but at present the chess tags are NOT reimplemented on the new board.

Sorry for any inconvenience!
Obviously, no one should post in the thread until Mr. Black posts Black's move.

Sorry about that. The PGN must be wrong somehow, because that was a calculated board. However I have fixed it for now by hand; someone else is welcome to suggest a way to do this in the future (I don't recommend Black upload images to the wiki, obviously).

Refresh your browser; I'm overwriting the old image each time.

I hope to have the actual chess engine working again tonight, but no promises.

The new chess engine is working, but... it doesn't give the same results as the PGN notation in the first post. :? That's really confusing.
Can someone with more time than me double-check the notation in the first post and look for any transcription errors? It appears to be hanging up about turn 32...

That was basically how AndrewS' Checkmate Mafia worked; it didn't have a 'game' ongoing, but it had a White Town and a Black Town and a White Mafia and a Black Mafia. It was...
interesting
