Hi! Sooner or later I will pick up what's happening. Sooner or later I will also have read everything that's in this thread, probably. These two events will be completely unrelated to each other, and you shouldn't hold your breath for a coherent catch-up post.

I think OceanWind is town? Xtoxm is probably scum. I think he mentioned in some game or other that his playstyle changed, and that is something I can relate to, but he's
really
quiet.

Like I said, a straightforward 24-page "catching up and posting my thoughts" post isn't very likely to happen. I don't pick up the same things if I wasn't there for them, I get bored, my accuracy with catchups is nothing special, and while I'm all for transparency, this would probably just be busywork. I am going to be checking back on things, but I'll be doing that at my own pace and I'm hoping to get up to speed without that.

But if you want something to do, I would strongly recommend looking into Xtoxm's recent towngames.

Huh.

I think my meta of him is probably obsolete, but just in case it isn't, I'd rather not give the details out this early. I don't have any particular desire to replace into this game and just immediately strongarm a lynch on him, I've already been kind of shitty to him in the past, and morally I'd feel like a slightly better person if I had some scumreads that weren't him. All right.

It looks like Varsoon is in prod range.

Hey, Varsoon. You're online, right? I can see you there. Why are they voting you?

They! You know,
them
.

If you want to focus on OceanWind, you can, since you're voting him and also he is the person who I am the closest to having an opinion on. That's your call, though.

I might join them, because deadline considerations. I'm hoping four days is enough time to make an informed decision instead of just running off of that, though. You are kind of the biggest wagon right now, so, you know, now is probably not a great time to be lurking.

I have no experience with Varsoon.

I would strongly appreciate it if people stopped pressing Suzune.

Hi, pisskop! OceanWind is town and you should do what he says.

There might actually be a catch-up wall after all, albeit a very opaque one. Maybe. Eventually I am going to figure out what the hell my playstyle even is now, I swear to god.

Yeah. I'm just going to post this bit, it can't hurt. If you ask me why I said any of these things, I'm not promising to remember the answer just yet. We'll cross that bridge later.

I think 3dice is...something about his reaction to the claims is off, but I might be making a few assumptions here. Am I, Suzune? (We're still in-thread masons, by the way, just in case that wasn't clear. I'm a little exasperated, but it is what it is.)

Varsoon's skepticism about lane's claim is stupid, but probably town?
I say this. Other people had similar reactions that didn't make me think that. Eh.

I'm going to OMGUS more than usual, I think. I am an in-thread mason and it is my god-given right to be universally townread here, and also it gives me something to do. Like, what's with Xtoxm? Why does he think farside was scum? It's completely obvious she wasn't scum.

Xtoxm is lurking. Maxous is lurking to the point where I subconsciously didn't even recognize him as a player in the game. In retrospect last night when I called Varsoon on getting into prod range, Maxous was even further gone and I just totally failed to register that at all.

I do not mind the fact that I am voting BRantz.

OceanWind seems pretty town to me! I have Standard Disclaimers for this if anyone wants to see them, and really I just want to jump ahead to the part where I'm figuring him (and everyone) out in realtime instead of trying to piece everything together after the fact, but yeah.

I like Dierfire.

Fuzzylogic's case on OceanWind is just parroting the same things other people said, and I don't think he has it in him to come up with those thoughts independently. I don't like it.

Brantz thinks that my predecessor, who left the game while voting him, is pretty good at reading him! Good to know, good to know.

I skipped around, and somewhere in there I filtered Maxous because apparently OceanWind is townreading him? And I still don't like that he only has 13 posts, but yeah, I seriously do not like Xtoxm's vote on farside at all.

I liked that Dierfire called the you/Varsoon fight TvT.
Please don't take this as making a hard call against your paranoia, though, I don't have an opinion on that yet. Even my answer here was me trying to put a finger on something vaguer because you asked.

If farside has a history of reading BRantz correctly, then that's been established across past games and it's not really something he can lie about. It's null.

In post 653, OceanWind wrote:What do you think of posts of Fuzzy that I linked in my previous post?

Sorry. Right now I'm going to have to answer that with an, "I don't know, and feeling guilty for not knowing and not having a good reply is making it harder to focus on gathering more reads." And separately from that, I'm also scared that I'll come out of this cloudy state with a reads list that's a copy of things you've said if I'm not careful, and I think that's causing me to reflexively want to aim in the opposite direction and come out with some reason that Fuzzylogic should totally still be scum.

I realize that you aren't trying to do any of that. I'm still kind of trying to piece together what
will
work for me, because obviously the original "interact with people until something clicks" plan also isn't working as intended. The instincts don't seem to be there. I ISO'd myself in the last games I replaced into for inspiration, and it just left me with a vague desire to punch Past Me in the face.

Bluh. At least I still get to prance around pretending to be a mason.

I am unsurprisingly okay with the added heat on BRantz.

I'm just going to keep reading, I guess. I don't really have any better ideas right now.

I don't think we do know about mafia daytalk. Skullduggery's last three modded games were one game with it, one without, and one where the mafia could acquire it.

If I did have a stronger grip on things, I still wouldn't be comfortable answering Koggz's question. Voting on a hypothetical vig shot could maybe be a viable thing to talk about, but this close to deadline...eh. I think the question does more harm than help.

Post 688, OceanWind wrote:@Ether - Yeah, I don't really care whether our reads are similar. We have very different methods of developing reads and I was hoping that hearing your conflicting points might show me stuff I missed that you may have picked up on. Your predecessor looked really town and you look pretty town too so I'm okay with you taking your time and am not really in any hurry to get you to post content so no need to feel guilty.

It's not about looking town, exactly. Even like this, I'm pretty sure I could fight off a wagon on me if I had to, and hell, it would get me more invested. It's not something I particularly
want
to do, but I'd manage.

But there's always an audience in my head, and it
hates
it when I don't have strong convictions on things, and they need to be at least a little controversial or I get twitchy. I was just kind of hoping it'd be polite and give me a little bit more leeway to get things in order. (And besides, if my reads matched yours perfectly, that would probably be less a sign that they were right and more that my grip on the game wasn't strong enough to come up with something that was
mine
yet.)

I could white knight you a bunch, but I would feel extremely silly about that too. For other reasons. At least that'd give me an excuse to chat with pisskop, though.

Yeah. I'm taking that as a scumclaim. I'm assuming both of us are dead when Skullduggery gets online.

I am totally okay with you guys going after pisskop. I think if Brantz is a bomb, that raises the odds of bussing, just because it's a role that rewards the scum more for lynching it, but I'm not talking about pisskop specifically on that. There I just agree that him sheeping all of his supposed scum reads just doesn't make any sense.

I'm still weary of Maxous. I don't have any reason for this beyond his inactivity, my grip on things that happened after I got here honestly didn't get much better than my catchup. That isn't me calling him my second place, just...I don't know, make him do more?

Trying to force myself not to bunch this up; I might have more to say. I just haven't decided what it is yet.

Like I said, that's not on you specifically, I'm just saying that bombs are more expendable than goons are more expendable than scum power roles. If the scumteam wants to sweep, that's great for them, but if they need to bus, then a bomb is kind of a freebie anyway.

Also, I say all this. But it's not lost on me that farside replaced out partially because she was so fed up with no one seeing her case on BRantz. So, uh, that might be something to reread?

I am voting him. I never removed farside's vote, making me the first person on the wagon.

Pisskop.

I haven't read the game. I am not going to be around tomorrow. You already know your alignment and I'm not going to change your mind.

If you want me to look at other people for you, I can try to do that quickly, but making me convince you why you are or aren't scum in perfect detail is a waste of both of our times.

Xtoxm targets 3dicerolling (Result: Detects no motion)
pisskop investigates Koggz (Result: Not a Vanilla Townie; Learns that Koggz is Town)
...

Christ, we're our own worst enemies.

I do think scum made other mistakes, especially around kills. (I'm not gonna give play advice, because honestly I spent the whole game either leaning heavily on setup speculation or having close to nothing at all.) BRantz killing me was the best move he had at the time, yeah, because we were obviously not on his side and he didn't really have a better shot. But if he'd survived longer, he could have bumped off OceanWind or Xtoxm or someone else who could clear people. Lovers aren't really a priority kill; they'll die sooner or later anyway, but investigative roles are stronger the more nights you give them. And the Ducks kill was also bad.

It was still a really townsided setup, though. I thought Fuzzylogic was at least telling the truth about the busdrive.

You're wrong. It's just you. Everyone else
except BRantz
has stopped.

This is not an argument you are winning. This is not an argument you should still be trying to win.

Yes, pisskop crossed the line during the game, to the point where I'm surprised and honestly kind of pissed that he didn't eat ban-time for it. His behavior toward you was fucked up and I am not saying it wasn't. He's the one who started it, when you were trying to play the game. What he did and what you did--and are still doing--aren't equivalent.

But you still screwed up. You lashed out blindly and alienated a bunch of people, and now you're doing it again.

If you want, I can PM you, and try to deconstruct what went wrong. I don't want to do this in-thread, and I don't particularly want to do it at all, so feel free not to take me up on this. There's a good chance I'll regret it.

Either way...please just take a deep breath. You're just digging yourself deeper at this point. I don't know what you're trying to accomplish here. Do you?
