Ok first things first

we need to eliminate the ability for scum to lie about their ability consumption from the get go. Confusion is not allowed to be an excuse for us burning over our gauge.

As a result, while we want to keep the actual abilities themselves secret

All players should be required to claim their point expenditures, and we should plan around this such that no player should accidentally cause us to go over.

Further,

My power is one such that claiming it (and how much it costs) is really not an issue. I wish to do this at some point today.

I will begin by claiming my point Gauge costs, but not the abilities themselves.

I have 1 ability, that costs 4 points, and another ability that costs 8.

If it comes to light later on you lied about your point consumption abilities in any manner, I will lynch you on principle. I don't care how townie you look, there is no excuse for lying about this and making this harder. If you lie, I will lynch you. So don't complain later about how it was a gambit or some shit. You get one chance, one opportunity.

Two things:

1) The scum are going to shoot people every night regardless of whether we claim or not. You can often find idiot power roles just by reading the fucking game and seeing who is being dumb and cagey about their shit, just trying desperately to live to night. So the argument that this will reveal our "most powerful spells" is just empty, because 1) scum don't know which spells are going to go off regardless of their kill and which ones require the caster to live to the next day and 2) the odds of a powerful role dying even just by accident are large enough, even if we ignore the ability for scum to make assumptions.

2) eventually, scum are not going to have the luxury of killing whatever power role they want. They are going to need to start killing people who will lynch them. So, the thing is, we now force them to play a game of "what was your kill motivated by?" and it gives us more information to work from.

There is no reason to be against claiming the point value for your ability.

Having a balanced range is easy, just dont try so hard when villaging or be actively wolfy on purpose.

Getting townreads is easy, just townside or bus your bros. The single most tragic thing that happens in a game of WW is when a wolf busses and gets heat for the way he did it. Lol.

Getting villagers to kill each other and looking good while doing it is $#@!ing hard. This is the ultimate wolf play.




Your job as a wolf isnt to get townread, its to help the village as little as possible and get away with it. Some games the village lets you get away with more than other games (incidentally this is why subs are lame imo, because you cant plan for someone subbing in and calling you out for doing A, B or C. Which was acceptable to do in the pre-sub gamestate, but not after).

If you are feeling good, then you can start actively working against villagers and get away with it.


But people sit in the graveyard at endgame crying that so-and-so is openly wolfing, and that the village are a bunch of morons, then they refuse to give the open wolfer any credit because he was "obvious". He was obvious because your team let him be, being an "obvious wolf" without getting caught was his optimal play.
It wasnt flashy, it wasnt "award winning", but it did the most damage possible to the village.


Then some guy busses his entire team, survives 3 NKs (!?!?), and wins at LYLO because the village got complacent (or because the setup had too many mechanical clears, so the busser not dieing was "normal"). Then everyone calls him a WW god, and noms him as the greatest wolf of all time

This happens to me in every scum game I play.

Scum is about playing to your AUDIENCE, the players, not to the SPECTATORS.

The scum kill is the single greatest tool they have, and any good scum player knows how to chart a path from a losing situation to a winning one by leaving the right people alive.
