I'd rather everyone have at least one chance to say something scummy before we start shooting "randomly"
Nyeh, but bullets are less deadly here! Nyeh, I'll do what I do. I tend to anyway.

Hey, that's what I mean too ^-^. It's just that I do randomly hit scum...randomly.

(Ok, so I'm totally overestimating my random skillz thanks to my first bad idea game here)

Cool. Game started.

I agree with FL. Clearing people based on fire methods is rather odd Xyl. Why suggest it?
Because, no matter how you dress it up, that's what the world is. A community of idiots doing a series of things until the world explodes and we all die.

Randomly clearing people > randomly shooting people
Randomly shooting is a lot more fun though. And gives the scum a lot less information.

So I'd actually have to disagree.

More to the point, which is more dangerous to the town: having the scum shoot people "randomly" or having the scum clear people "randomly"?

Why does randomly clearing people help scum more than randomly shooting people?
Randomly shooting a scum is a lot better than randomly clearing a scum. Further, randomly clearing people isn't really random, and will generally have a cause behind it. By randomly clearing people you are telling scum what pro town criteria you are looking for. It's why I dislike it when people do a full player list analysis and say X person is town.

I completely disagree that clearing people is bad for the town. Townies clearing people really doesn't help scum all that much. It's not like you're just running on a program that says "X = scum" and once the scum know that program they can magically do X and fool you.

The other way it helps should be manifestly obvious. It also tells scum who to kill. Clearing townies is just an overall bad idea in my eyes.

I'm still deciding on if it's his playstyle or what myself. And I think kison's on, let me ask him.

I've heard the "it tells scum who to kill" argument before and I don't believe it. Yes, it's a downside, but how does it outweigh the benefit of more info to the town?

What info does it give? Scum can say anyone is town and it's all WIFOM. Town can say who they think is town but it doesn't mean they're right.

Personally, I think it actually causes dangerous blindspots that will end up biting someone in the ass.

See Medieval Mafia where a scum gave a scumlist that included who he thought was town, and when he died we immediately caught a scumbuddy based on the scumlist.

"I think X is town" is exactly as much a sign of inside info as "I think X is scum".
Actually, it's a lot less of one. Saying you think someone is scum and pushing their lynch gives a HELL of a lot more information than saying someone is town and not touching them.

See Medieval Mafia where a scum gave a scumlist that included who he thought was town, and when he died we immediately caught a scumbuddy based on the scumlist.
But did townies provide the same sort of lists? (I don't like reading games I'm not/wasn't in, to be honest). And what information was provided in those cases if so.

(at this point, I think we've reached a game theory impasse that might go nowhere)

Nyeh, fair enough, but I can still see you being a little less likely to poke veerus just because you've already declared him town, even tentatively.

Well, obviously. So why should I play from a meta I don't have? I'm just using a baseline with you right now. As it happens, you've only posted things that "just bug me". Nothing particularly scummy, but things that I don't think are exactly pro town. And it's appearing to be a bit of a game theory debate more than anything.
