RULES (inspired by the rule sets of Faraday, Maestro, and Nexus):

General Behavioral Expectations:
• All site-wide rules are to be followed. They can be found here. Rules here are also in effect. Important points are:
o Personal attacks on any basis are prohibited. Excessive vulgarity will also be stomped upon. When in doubt, err on the side of being civil and respectful.
o Play to your win condition.

Game Play, Voting, Lynching, and Night Actions:
• Do not quote mod communications anywhere in the thread.
This is our bolded color
so do not use it for any purposes, particularly impersonating us.
• Claiming to be an anti-town player sharing an alignment with another player in the game is a modkillable offense regardless of one's actual alignment or whether the statement was intended to be taken seriously.
• When placing a vote, it is not necessary to unvote first or to put your vote on a new line. However, it would be appreciated if you submitted votes in bold like this:
VOTE: The Betting Pool
or like this: VOTE: The Betting Pool. We will accept votes so long as we can tell the intended target from the abbreviation used.
• Lynches (or decisions to no-lynch) require a majority of votes.
• Discussion may continue in twilight.
• Once you are killed, do not post in the game thread. This includes ‘Bah!’ posts.
• Night actions may be PMed to us or posted in bold in the appropriate QTs. If you know you will be V/LA during the night phase, you may send in a conditional night action in advance.

Activity Parameters and Mod Communication:
• Prods will be sent out by PM to players who have not posted within the past 48 hours. Players receiving prods have 24 hours to post before we will start looking for a replacement. If the day ends before you can respond in-thread, you must PM us within the allotted time.
• Three prods in one game day phase or four prods overall will result in our replacing you.
• Day phases will last two weeks. Night phases will last two days.
• While you are welcome to post about any issues that arise in the thread (use bold to get our attention, please) you may also PM us concerning any problems. Use your best judgment here, and we will endeavor to do the same. This also applies to issues with us/our modding or other players.
• If you go on V/LA, please PM us.
• Alterations to these rules will be announced in-thread and PMed to all players in the event they become necessary either due to unforeseen circumstances or our own oversights.

Miscellaneous or Game-Specific Topics:
HYDRAs:
Please do your utmost to avoid alt slips. If you do mispost, please quote the post as the hydra account ASAP.

Violations of these rules will result in a warning for a first offense and a potential forced-replacement or modkill for subsequent offenses. We reserve the right to skip the warning for particularly willful or egregious violations.

All choices have been received. We're
play-testing all the games
designing the set-up now and hope to have it finished and reviewed by Thursday. Role PMs should be out by Thursday morning (American time-ish); we'll post here if this is delayed.

This might be double-posted...

All role PMs have now been sent out! The game will start when 11/13 players have confirmed.

In the meantime, please read the following important information:

*** This game is not normal. We do not, however, consider it to be bastard and as such there are no alignment switches, cults, jesters, lynchers, or survivors. The mods will not lie to you.

*** Balance issues were considered in the design and reviews processes, but balance is not guaranteed.

*** Alignments were randomized based in player slot number before any selections were received.

*** The town win condition is as follows:

You win with the town when all non-town-aligned players are dead and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

*** Any and all night actions may be submitted either via PM (mod account preferred over the individual heads' accounts) or in accessible QTs in bold font. (bold coding in the QTs works such that Shoot: The Betting Pool =
Shoot: The Betting Pool
Action deadlines are firm--any late actions will be disregarded.

*** Any and all flavor is for entertainment purposes only. No game information will be revealed therein.

Opening Flavor:

It was a Friday night at the home of The Betting Pool. The Evites were sent out promising a fun night of board game mayhem. The RSVPs were returned excitedly confirming attendance. Snacks were prepared and laid out. Drinks were ready to be served. All signs pointed to a great night of dice rolling, card drawing, and piece moving.

The guests started to arrive, each bringing a board game they wanted to play. One by one they were stacked on the living room coffee table as the guests mingled and socialized. A discussion began about which game should be played first. Everyone wanted to play their game first. The Betting Pool wanted to play Settlers of Catan, Faraday wanted to play Hanabi, and Angry Pidgeon wanted to play 7 Wonders. Someone pointed out there might not be time to play all the games. A heated argument started to rise up as each guest added their voice. Sensing danger, The Betting Pool called for silence. He suggested the party eat dinner first, and they could play their first game after.

As most of the guests settled into their food, several members of the party were colluding on a plan. In order to guarantee that their games were played, they would eliminate some of the other choices. They took turns sneaking away when no one was looking and sabotaged the board games that weren’t theirs. Before they could get to all the games though, dinner ended.

Everyone began to return to the living room, ready to start playing. To their horror, the guests were greeted with a sight of destruction. Several board games lay scattered and mangled. The 7 Wonders cards were written on with permanent marker and the conflict tokens were chewed and dented. Several Hanabi cards were missing and replaced with Bicycle cards. Settlers of Catan’s pieces were strewn around the room and the board pieces bent. The robber piece was missing, presumably robbed!

Angry Pidgeon and Faraday looked at their games with their mouths open in shock. The Betting Pool started to gather up the pieces of Catan, angry at this crime. After cleaning up the mess, The Betting Pool turned to his guests. “Whoever did this will pay!”

Hi, I hate meta and pedantic arguments that make the game hard to read. I think the biggest reason scum wins games is because town doesn’t work together. I have a radical idea. Let’s form a charter for this game to promise to play well together.
Charter wrote:In the interests of playing a fun game and rolling the hell out of the scum, we, the undersigned (charter members), hereby pledge to play Mini 1555 Board Game UPick Mafia in a manner (defined below) that we as a group believe will expose the scum and the anti-town elements of the game.
1. We will work together to draft the particulars of this charter.
2. We will participate in a useful and pro-town way.
3. We will participate regularly. We will not lurk.
4. We will strive to uphold the spirit of the rules of Mafiascum.net and this game.
5. We will not clutter the thread with pedantic arguments or he-said/she-said nonsense.
6. We will allow any player who has demonstrated consistent effort to maintain the above principles into the charter group.
7. We will eject any charter member who does not demonstrate effort to maintain the above principles.
8. We will follow the following lynch procedure:
a. Non-members the charter sees as scummy.
b. Non-members the charter sees as anti-town.
c. All other non-members.
d. Members seen as scummy.
9. One member will keep a list of the official charter memebership in their posts.

Signed:
Porkens
It's not pretty yet, but we will make it so. Help me draft this you guys.

Majiffy, I'm actually not going to stand in the way of meta scumhunting being in the charter. I understand some of you believe it works well for you, and I don't want to claim it's bad just because I don't like it. I'd be fine with incorporating it into the charter. Would you be willing to work with me to draft this thing in the interest of cooperation and mutual respect?

See, this is exactly the kind of antagonistic and uncollaborative exhange I'm hoping us agreeing to making and following a charter would overcome.

It is in a draft format. How would you adjust it so that it would be agreeable?

"Members seen as scummy" is way too low.
Hang the ones who look like scum. This should be so.
