I think that this setup was overall a solid setup. A bit scumsided, and significantly swingy, but not bad. (And the fakeclaim thing was not ideal, but not a deal breaker.)
The flavor, however, was outstanding. Thanks for modding, Kuroi!

The swinginess is definitely a part of it. I didn't think the fakeclaim part too far ahead, but it wasn't so terrible. Someone could be like, "Yellin? He's in here? No, I call bullshit."

I do appreciate you liking the flavor. When I first came to MS, I was surprised by the small number of mods who did a write up.

I see that. It's my duty as a mod to clarify the rules. I wasn't favoring either team. (Although I was honestly hoping town to win actually). If they want to know what would happen if something happened, I kind of had to clarify.

If I made a completely vanilla game of only VT and Mafia and someone said, "What would happen if a cop investigated me?" I'd answer, even if there's no cop.

Either way, I am sorry if you thought I was giving free information to mafia. I strive to be (and I believe I am) an impartial mod.

I see what you mean, but in a theme game the are a lot of possible variants and you could give out information about whether you have those variants/which ones you have.

My opinion is that since the role Beloved Princess has two (relatively) well-known variants, it is reasonable for Kuroi to clarify which variant he would use, just like clarifying whether X-shot roles get shots back if roleblocked or if mafia can kill and action in the same night, both of which are important questions with no clear most common usage.

I think Kuroi was right to confirm according to which rule any role with the name "Beloved Princess" would work. However, that doesn't guarantee that that's how Infinity's role would work, given that it could be "Modified Beloved Princess" or just another rolename entirely. On the one hand, having consensus on ambiguous rules like this would eliminate issues like this, but on the other hand, Infinity's claim was bad, almost akin to a player claiming cop that determines his target's role and alignment (and having the mod verify that cop only learns alignment).

I personally feel I'd be actually giving specialized information if I give our variants on what I have and what I don't.

The only exception to that is something that actually is affecting the game or if I'm clarifying a player's role. Like about the executioner, it wasn't a straight executioner. It's a non-consecutive executioner. If a variant exists that needs to be explained, I'll explain it. If someone asks about a hypothetical, I will go off the Wiki and just be a facilitator of knowledge, but I don't want to give specialized information to any undeserving.

Fair enough, though that does limit potential strategy for town fakeclaiming (which is already severely limited but eh). I was thinking it could limit scum fakeclaims too but since they could just ask the mod it doesn't really make a difference.
