Randomly going to
Vote: ZazieR

Well...

...let's get to lynchin' scum, then!

Vote: omg

DO NOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF YOU BIG WEENER

There is a literal morass of self-aggrandizing newbies in this game. It gives me a headache (payback for when I was a self-aggrandizing newbie, I'm sure). I'm just going to pick up the game from here and pretend I've been along for the ride all along.

Note: I use ad hominem on occasion because I think it's funny. Don't take it personally, and feel free to throw it right back my way so long as you continue to provide answers and questions for me/the town while doing so. If your posts consist ONLY of insults, I will ignore them, buttsniffers.

I hope this is a hammer on omg. If not, someone hammer.

You're on my "not helpful" list, just so you know, Scrut.

I feel like I'm in another country in this thread.

What is villagery? What is a pogger?

And yes, there are a lot of "newbs" in this game, though I meant it in the cultural unfamiliarity sense, not the doesn't-know-his-anus-from-his-ear sense. It's an unfortunate fact that what is a scumtell (a word I absolutely abhor) in one group will be a town tell in another.

Why do I like players to give reasons when they vote?

I... I've never been asked that before. It's sorta like being asked why water is wet.

With nothing else to go on but bolded names this game would be nigh-impossible. It therefore behooves the town for the players to have policies which tend to pressure other players into providing information. Any information provided by scum is a lie, and it is by looking for said lies we find them.

LET'S STOP TALKING META AND START DISCUSSING WHY I'M SCUMMY PLEASE!

Look in my profile, you should see a button that says "Check all posts by this user." Click one of the games I'm posting in and then check how many posts I made in the game by filtering the thread by my posts only, an option at the bottom of every thread on mafiascum.

Read my posts.

You came into the thread and made some scummy posts. Then you said you are always the #1 poster in your games and have hardly posted since then. I said I would give you a pass if you were going to be posting a lot, but you haven't. I'm not completely convinced that you're scum and I'd rather lynch scrutinizer, but as of now, I'd rather lynch you than OMG or matrix.
Ah, so this is the first time I've heard someone from bizarro world state actual reasons (albiet bad ones, as I will demonstrate) for their vote. Congratulations.

1) Name the scummy posts and why they are scummy.
2) I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on my post count.
3) Just to be clear then, you are NOT voting for the person you most strongly suspect of being a wolf?

Sun Tzu: What if everyone was doing what you are doing? Nobody would be voting for their true #1 suspect. If you think you are right about Hewitt, you should vote for him, because A) it will net you cred with the town if you DO turn out to have been right all along and B) that way the voting record is accurate to suspicions of the townies.

Do you disagree? If so, why? If not, why not?

To everyone else voting for me: Please state a reason for your vote.

I'm not going to presume to be able to read this game nearly as accurately as some others I've read, mainly because of the cultural crossover: What is a scumtell here isn't necessarily one for the eight "others," and vice-versa. Suffice to say, I will simply be looking for logical inconsistency and ignoring most of the standard scumtells when it comes to those eight.

As I have stated already, I'm treating page 23 as page 1. Nobody's fault (with the possible exception of the mod's) that I didn't know the game had started until then, but if you want to lynch me for not caring to read 23 pages of eight people from another site bash ms, that's your perogative. My vote for ZazieR was semi-random-stage, I actually based it entirely on ONE post he made around page 10, but I'm not even going to bother digging it up, as it's nearly insignificant to the things omg has done.

That said, your case against me is that I'm not reading the thread. I have copped to not reading every post. What more is there to say? I guess you can do what you will, but my shining moments always come in the late game, so if you think I'm scum for being lazy, it's your game to help lose.

4. hasnt answered questions posed to him in the thread

now, this might not be extremely damning by mser standards, but it should be.
he is posting without knowledge of the thread content and this can not be considered "good for the village" which apparently is a big mser suspicion trigger.

he is pressuring others to give their reasoning for their votes, which is fine. its the way it should be, BUT, at the same time, he is voting for omg as a matter of policy. a weak reason at best from the guy who is shitting on other peoples reasoning.
he says he will prove suns reasoning to be bad, but hasnt even attempted to as of yet.

his "I'm not going to presume to be able to read this game nearly as accurately as some others I've read" reaks of scum making excuses in advance has to why he isnt finding scum. this will be even more scummier if walle is usually regarded as a fine scumhunter.

and just now, says hes "happy with" his omg vote because omg accused him of sucking. omgus is a show of arrogance, correct? so walle, the guy who in this thread said "Arrogance != scummy. The sooner you discover this, the better a player you'll be. ", is voting for omg because omg voted for himself, and is now happy about it because omg is arrogant.
does anybody else see the contradiction?

why is walle not lynched already?
wtf are we waiting for?
SC: While I see no specific questions here (aside from the rhetorical ones) I will address this post, since you seem to prefer if I do.

everybody should note that walle is proving over and over again that he isnt reading the thread closely, if at all.
some examples:
1. his vote for zazier

How does my random vote prove I have not read the thread? I've already said once that I even had a small reason for the vote. Can you specify?

2. claims Hewitt is suns #1 suspect

No, I interpreted something one way, then found out the player himself has a different policy.

3. claims nobody other than sun had given reasons for their votes on him.

I claim nothing of the kind. Quote me please.

4. hasnt answered questions posed to him in the thread

Name one.

Hitch, have you read any of the no-time-limit, majority lynch only POG games? My impression therefrom, which comports with my theoretical view, is that bandwagon consolidation is not really important in this format -- everyone has to make an obvious, visible choice as majority approaches. In fact, it may be beneficial to avoid prematures consolidation, as more data will be available down the road if more wagons gain and lose life.

[side note]

I'm quickly becoming convinced that if we combined the terminology of these two communities into a new mafia language we could simplify this game to a series of acronyms and emoticons devoid of any actual recognizable English.

Which, imo, would rock forever. \m/

But then I'm a huge sci-fi nerd.

And I have addressed this. There's nothing more to say about it. During my read, Zazie struck me as scummy. I needed a random vote, so I voted Zazie. Fair?

No, I interpreted something one way, then found out the player himself has a different policy.
No,

Sun said if he could choose the lynch, he would choose hitch.

You replied “Sun Tzu: What if everyone was doing what you are doing? Nobody would be voting for their true #1 suspect. If you think you are right about Hewitt, you should vote for him, because A) it will net you cred with the town if you DO turn out to have been right all along and B) that way the voting record is accurate to suspicions of the townies.”

This shows that you are not paying attention to the thread (gravy), and it has to be assumed therefor that you are making stuff up to try and sound like youre participating.
Read that again. Slowly. Tell me if you can see how I interpreted "I would prefer to lynch hitch of anyone" and "I am voting for not-hitch" to = "I am not voting for my #1 scumspect.

Ah, so this is the first time I've heard someone from bizarro world state actual reasons (albiet bad ones, as I will demonstrate) for their vote

Name one.

You can't be serious.

I am reading the thread now. Read my first post in the game for the rest of this answer. As to joke-voting... what the hell does that have to do with anything? If I'm pro joke-voting, what is that, a scum tell? Humor is a great tool for scumhunting when used properly. These questions are irrelevant, yet I still answered them. Your reasons for voting for me boil down to essentially twisting my words and fabricating responses I've made into alternate contexts.

Anything else?

Setting up wagons based on.. well.. nothing and i doubt you could actually justify what you said as a joke or as something backed up by evidence since there is no way you could make such a statement based on how little we know. The reasoning you gave is clearly bullshit since SC has not made any statements about who he's going to vote today and siesta. Also, their posts don't appear to be forced at all. You also state that MIKE is probably not a villager when you have NO evidence of that. And how do we know that scott didn't "peek" ( which i presume means "investigate" ) siesta since scott hasn't even posted so far? Your posts are full of crap and mostly you make no sense. You are hurting the town and the game since your actions aren't justifiable even if you were scum.

Hi guys,

Myself and oEJo are village masons.
How the hell is it best to just claim straight up? And how the hell is it best to draw night kills? Also, how does claiming anything clears you as town at this stage? It's simply mind-numbing.

It's clear that at least both of you have not studied what a forum based mafia is played like on this site. Also, what is the rush for anything? Don't you know that ONE game day on this forum can take up to a month and a half? Geez.

And you call these fact drama. Even more reason you should join a newbie game before joining a normal one. Also, try adopting the terms used on this site. I.e. it's not werewolf, it's mafia or scum.
re stef and his posts:
he seems a little thin skinned.
he also seems to not have a good grasp on ww(mafia, whatever), even though he claims others dont.
but, his crying appears to be honest to goodness villager crying. i dont know why a wolf would get so upset if they really believed a couple villagers were screwing things up for the village. i probably wont be voting for stef any time soon.
This post boils down to a gut read and insults. Both of these are totally useless to the town. Buddying thrown in for flavor.

re zhaorx (nothing in particular about the post above, its just a place holder):
ive gotten the feeling that zhaorx admires me and my style and is developing his games to mimic mine. its an admirable path. nothing he has said this game bothers me. i dont have a read on him yet, but if theres going to be heat on zhaorx, its best if its for a legitimate reason. him trying to get some wagons going is not a reason to vote him.
which brings me back to stef:
stef, how do you suggest we move from the joke vote stage to the get down to business stage if nobody takes initiative? if you want to make an omelete, you gotta break some eggs.
More buddying.

vote zazier

i think a zazier/mike wagon may be in order at the moment.
Nobody in their right mind would have taken Zazie's post here seriously. Not even the claimants (I hope). To what effect to you drag out this obvious derp move by Zazie and try to make a case of it?

OK, this can go either way. Some of us do what are called "pressure votes", and those aren't scummy. Voting someone to get that person policy lynched is usually scummy, though. Could you clarify what you're trying to tell us?
this post struck me as odd. mainly because i thought zhaorx did give reasoning for siesta and mada. if my recolection is correct, then cougar is essentially asking "why are you suspicious of me" but is including others as well for some reason.
and then he asks which type of voting z was doing, when given cougars 2 types, its fairly obvious how they should be categorized.
Twisting what SC said to start a wagon, here. It's fairly clear what SC was saying, and I agree with it 110%.

Yeah, you guys are going to lynch me anyway, and this whole thing was a farce. How does it benefit the scum to do any of the things I'm being hung for? Remember to ask yourselves that question of every bandwagon from here on out.

I'm not too happy with ScottHoward, but I'm willing to accept the pogger claim that he's good at finding scum poggers.

I'm also agreeing with SC's claim that TCS never once in the game alluded to being scum before the post he got voted for by SC in, and

Oh, well, fine.

I'm considering not trying to lynch anymore poggers, just because you guys seem to be 100% scumtells all day.

I know, I tend to set myself up as a meat pie, but that's my play style. I've never met an entire forum of meat pies before.

Trust me when I say that this late in the game, when we are close to Lynch-or-lose, I drop all pretense of meat-pie psychology and directly start hunting scum.

That all said, my read on The Fonz was faulty, clearly.

But.

I think I have some insight into Sun Tzu's playstyle. I think he and I do similar things when we are scum.

1) He tunnels atackdog, Mikemike and Zhorax. Typically I will tunnel random villagers starting in my very first post.

2) He went into an in-depth history of his own experiences with the game. Trying to gain social value through implied experience. With me, this is a scum-tell.

3) He has a bit of an attitude. He's not afraid to do scummy things (which I do as town, and so does he, since scum-Sun would be emulating his own town meta).

Therefore I feel a bit more comfortable going after one of the people he mentioned, but in passing, and perhaps only in a positive way.

The Case Against TCS By Wall-E:

He distanced Sun Tzu in his ISO 9.

He voted for my predecessor for an understandable mistake: His joke posts, (ISO 17 through 21, 23 through 30) were spread out over many pages. SC picked up on a COMMON and STRONG scumtell that, in the longer view, clearly was intended as a joke. However, I'd liken the entire sequence of events to scum setting a trap for a townie (which, if I'm right, makes TCS my hero in so many ways *).

In his ISO 33 he says everything he did D1 was him, "Just fucking around," a provably true statement, but I'd rather he not have said a damn thing than engage in a ten post indulgence - making fun of people who voted The Fonz for his, "If I'm the cop," plays.

Here's the thing, though. He claims the reason he made those prolific "If I'm the X, X is the X" posts was to protect The Fonz, yet he didn't pull the curtain aside until The Fonz was dead. He never even once spoke a word to his defence, merely continued to ape the post The Fonz came under fire for making without saying why. Most of us probably didn't catch on to what he was doing, but viewing his posts in isolation make it clear. * Hence the trap. Now, after the fact, he can say, "Well I tried to save The Fonz, and look how much he protected me!" Of course The Fonz was aware of the absurdity of TCS's actions. The Fonz's neck was on the line. He was reading everything anyone said to try to save himself. We've all been
there
.

In ISO 37 he clings to The Fonz's defence of him despite the odds of his being The Fonz's ONE investigation being VERY slim. More likely, The Fonz saw what TCS was doing with his joke posts and thought it was a strong town-tell (if only for the absurdity of the whole thing).

The rest of his posts have been fluffy non-hunting. He's been purporting since the beginning that he'd turn his act around and suddenly pop out with some newfound scumhunting effort after the fluff was over and the posting levels had gone down significantly. I say that time has come and passed. He was one of those who strongly advocated mass modkills, an action which statistically (if truly random) always helps the scum, and he has provided little to no useful content since his post 30 wherein he claims he was trying to save the cop but somehow was unable to just come out and say, "Guys, leave The Fonz alone. Your case is crap (it had to be, since he really WASN'T scum) and here's why."

I've made two mistakes in my case on TCS.

1) The Fonz was not lynched. My bad.

2) The Fonz also thought playing, "If I'm the X, X is the X" was silly.

However, I was unable to find any specific examples of The Fonz going above and beyond to defend TCS. In fact, he spent more time defending me than he did TCS.

That is all.

Your message of hopelessness is not pro-town. Fix that attitude, soldier, there's a war on!

I really feel that if the remaining pro-town players pull it together we can still win this. Between the experienced players from both communities and the fact that we have SO MUCH information to work with, it's not outside the realm of possibilities that we can beat the baddies.

Personally, I've learned a lot from this game. I don't think it's been a joke in any sense of the word.

ScottHoward's point that TCS's percentages were off is valid, and I'd be willing to entertain others voting for TCS for those reasons, but I accept his defence for now.

So.

What else is on the table? Let's look at the remaining players, three of whom are scum and - statistically - one of whom is a power role:

Caboose = Morphing addict
matrix
SiestaGuru
ScottHoward
Hitch
hewitt
The Central Scrutinizer
StrangerCoug = Wall-E

Dead Vanillas

omg_im_innocent_wtf
Wall-E
atakdog
Stef
M1KEMMIEMIEMKEMIKE
oEJo
Mada
gusmahler = norseman1066

Dead Powers

zhaorx - Doctor
The Fonz - Cop

Dead Scum

Sun Tzu - Mafia
ZazieR well-named - Serial Killer

More on why later, unless I change my mind, in which case I will tell you why.
Weird how you want to lynch someone active who's not you.

Scum can't all be lurking. Scum is deathly afraid of all doing the same thing.
Are they?

I never said it would be easy.

And I already have. Twice since the lull in the game started. What's your excuse again?

I don't have an "excuse" and I don't need an "excuse". If I'm going to start targeting someone as scum I want to be able to be pretty damn sure they're scum. I seriously don't think we can go lynching another town player and survive.
That means you can't even LOOK for scum?

Alright, Wall-E, so why is your vote on scotthoward? And before you jump the gun and say go reread I did...a couple times and I haven't really got the reasoning behind why you're voting for him.
SH has been lauded as a pogger superstar. Since we're losing, he's clearly not doing his usual to help.

The simplest answer is usually the best.

You're not likely to EVER be 'for sure' who is the scum. It's a function of the game that town is never positive about their choices. You're 0/3 atm.

I'm calling you nervous scum.
