Game Rules:


Fundamental
:
  • This is a game. Have fun.
  • Be nice to other players. they are real people, not your mortal enemies.
  • Rules subject to amendment as I realize I forgot stuff.
General Gameplay and Etiquette:
  • You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. This includes anything posted in quicktopics. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
  • There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.
  • If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline. If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline your night actions will be randomized. Please note that no action is a random possibility.
  • Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the me know that you do not want to perform your ability that Night phase.
  • After all players have confirmed, there will be a 24-hour period for any group(s) with the ability to night talk to confer. There will no night actions allowed during this period.
Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
  • A simple majority of all living members must agree on one person for a Lynch to occur (simple majority = ½ # of living players +1, rounded down).
  • Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.
  • Please submit votes as:
    Vote: PlayerName
    . Unvotes are appreciated but aren't really necessary.
  • Getting cute with trick voting may result in modkilling.
  • You may
    Vote: No Lynch
    - a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to Night phase without a Lynch.
  • Deadlines are pretty generous but extended only by request of replacement players.
  • Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all living players, including the lynched player, may continue to post until the thread is locked.
  • Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post except for a brief “Bah!”-type post with no game content.
Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
  • Red text
    is reserved for the Mod. No invisible/small text is allowed.
  • No cryptography.
  • Votecounts will be posted once every 1 to 3 real life days or when requested.
  • If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM me. Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
  • I may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand to be commiserated over after the game.
  • Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
  • Prods will be sent on request or after 3 days of inactivity. If I have to prod you more than 4 times, I may just replace you.
  • Rules violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill. Modkills may be accompanied by a change to day/night.
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

Active Abilities (both for players and groups)
  • Bodyguard: At night, choose a player to protect. If they are targeted for a kill, you will be killed instead of them.
  • Bomber: At night, choose a player to bomb. You and your target will die.
  • Commuter: At night, you can make yourself immune to all night actions.
  • Cop: At night, choose a player to investigate. You will learn whether or not that player has a "Dangerous" win condition.
  • Delayer: At night, choose a player to delay. Their ability will take place the following night phase.
  • Doctor: At night, choose a player to heal. That player will be protected from a single kill attempt.
  • Framer: At night, choose a player to incriminate. That player will show up as "Dangerous" to cops and "Can Kill" to gunsmiths.
  • Gunsmith: At night, choose a player to investigate. You will learn whether or not that player has access to guns (via personal or group ability of Killer with any sort of modifiers).
  • Jailkeeper: At night, choose a player to jail. That player will be unable to use their own night action, nor can anyone else target them.
  • Hider: At night, choose a player to hide with. You will only die if they die.
  • Killer: At night, choose a player to kill. You will make a single kill attempt against that player.
  • Motivator: At night, choose a player to motivate. You can enable a player to use one more ability the following night.
  • Nightwatchman: At night, choose a player to watch. You will find out whether the player you target used an ability that night.
  • Role Cop: At night, choose a player to investigate. You will receive the list of all active and passive abilities (with modifiers), excluding group abilities, of the player you target (but not their alignment).
  • Roleblocker: At night, choose a player to block. That player will be unable to use their own night action(s).
  • Tracker: At night, choose a player to track. You will learn the set of other players that your chosen player targeted that night.
  • Vote Thief: At night, choose a player whose vote to steal. Their vote won't count the following day.
  • Watcher: At night, choose a player to watch. You will learn the set of players that targeted your chosen player that night.
Notes
:
  • The Investigative abilities may or may not be accompanied with sanity confirmation.
  • The result of a Cop investigation will be either "Dangerous", "Not Dangerous", or "No Result".
  • The result of a Gunsmith investigation will be either a "Can Kill" or "No Result".
  • The result of a Nightwatchman, Tracker, or Watcher investigation will be either a complete list of players who meet the stated criteria or "No Result". If no players meet the stated criteria, the Tracker or Watcher will also receive a "No Result".
  • In short, the only ability that can tell whether or not it failed is the Cop.


Ability Modifiers
  • Backup: Once someone with the same ability dies, you can use yours.
  • Collaboration: The ability is only available as long as at least two group members are alive.
  • Compulsive: You have to use your ability each night.
  • Day: This ability is used during the day, instead of the night.
  • Inventor: You cannot use your ability yourself, but each night you can give another player a 1-Shot of your ability for use on any subsequent night.
  • Final Chance: If the member is the last remaining of his group, this ability can be used in addition to that player's personal ability.
  • Final Chance+: If the member is the last remaining of his group, this ability can be used in addition to that player's personal ability and it may be used on himself.
  • Free: This ability does not count against the one action a night rule.
  • Odd/Even: This ability can only but used on either odd or even numbered day/night periods.
  • No Back-to-Back: This ability cannot be used on the same target twice in a row.
  • Self: This ability may be used on oneself.
  • Selfish: This ability must be used on oneself.
  • Soloist: This ability can only be used by the final member of the group.
  • Visible: For this ability to be used, the player must post in the game's thread with Abilty: XXX.
  • Weak: You die when you target any player with a "dangerous" win condition.
  • X-Shot: You can use your ability X number of times. If the ability is prevented in any way, it is considered used.
Notes:
  • The Inventor modifier's notice for the receiver of a 1-Shot ability will have the format: You received: x
  • The following Modifiers only apply to Group Abilities: Collaboration, Final Chance(+), Soloist.
  • As the existence of the Self and Final Chance+ modifiers suggest, abilities without them cannot be used on oneself.
  • The Visible modifier can only be applied to abilities that also have the Day modifier.


Passive Abilities
  • Ascetic: You are immune to all active abilities except kill.
  • Bulletproof Vest (X): You can survive X attempts at your life. X may equal infinity.
  • Day-talk: You can day-talk in the following thread (QT Link).
  • Double-Voter: Your vote counts twice.
  • Godfather: If investigated by a Cop, the result always be "Not Dangerous" (unless the ability is blocked, etc.). If investigated by a Gunsmith, the result will always be "No Result".
  • Hated: It takes one less vote than normal to lynch you.
  • Innocence:
  • Known Identity: The mentioned group knows your identity.
  • Lover: When your partner dies, you die as well.
  • Macho: You will die if you are protected.
  • Miller: If investigated by a Cop, the result will always be "Dangerous" (unless the ability is blocked, etc.). If investigated by a Gunsmith, the result will always be "Can Kill" (unless the ability is blocked, etc.).
  • Night-talk: You can night-talk in the following thread (QT Link).
  • Paranoid Gun Owner: If you are targetted with any ability except "Kill", you kill whomever targets you.
  • Unlynchable: You cannot be lynched.
  • Vengeful: After you are lynched, you may kill one of the players that voted to lynch you.
  • Voteless: You may vote, but it doesn't count.


Group Types
  • Trusted: All members are confirmed to have the same win condition.
  • Untrusted: There is no guarantee that members will have the same win condition.

I think that further explanation has meaning to every player in this game. There appears to be no possibility for a post-restriction in this game. You need to explain your restriction; otherwise, people have plenty of reasoning to suspect you.
