So, now at 187 pages...does this game rank near the top of the lengthiest page-counts? I'm sure it's not the literal top, but don't know how common these have become in my absence.

I'm pretty sure it's not even close to the longest game I've been in, in terms of real-life time elapsed. I have a vague memory of a game (run by....Darkblade?) that thanks to his constant disappearing acts, lasted for over a year.

OMG Mathcam, now it's 188! What did you DO?!?

In seriousness, I remember replacing into something that went over 200 posts. I have no idea of the current meta, though. :)

Thanks :D

My brother was recently in a newbie game that got 2nd place for the shortest day in terms of number of posts. That's how I found out there's a records page on the wiki!

http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Records

I thought D3 of this game might make longest day in terms of posts, but it's not even close. As for time, the top five all are over a year long.

There was a dumb game called chess mafia that is untouchable in terms of run length. It had a silly mechanic where the town was white and the scum were black in a game of chess and went back and forth voting on moves, so each day instead of lynching they collectively voted on the move to play, it ran for a ridiculously long number of game days.

Chess was great. Some time after the first mod couldn't take it anymore, the backup went "Oh god, please just lynch someone" and a bunch of the players threatened to replace out. They didn't sign up for this game to play
mafia
.

Egypt, the next slowest, probably does qualify as a mafia game. That is the only good thing I can say about it.

Green Crayons wrote:Basically, what I'm saying is that everyone was wrong, except for when they were right, but more importantly, Ether should play a game or something, you know?
Did you say "run another Telephone Pictionary?" I heard "run another Telephone Pictionary."

(But seriously, I stopped playing mafia for a reason. Even if I did join a game again, it'd probably be a newbie. I like newbie games.)

I wish I had any artistic skill at all to play Telephone Pictionary.

I know, right? Of all the posts that had to start a new page...

Here's that Darkblade game I was talking about

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=185

It does fall shy of Chess Mafia (wow -- and a mini at that!) at only 14 months, but it is striking that it was only 50 pages long. That means it accrued about 3.5 pages of game
per month
. We had about 50 pages per month here in Oldy Mafia 2. Also noteworthy is that I lost it for the town in 3-player lylo. :(

Oh man, just read the first few pages of that thread. I'm laughing out loud at the memory. I'm sure the record has been broken since then, but at the time, that was the most unmitigated disaster of a modding job the site has ever seen.

Wow. That is not a promising first page.

For the record, Egypt had a terribly inactive mod who neglected to tell my mason buddy that he'd been culted until about five months AFTER he led the wagon on the cult leader, pushing her lynch through when she had no other recruits except (unwittingly) him. This effectively cleared him from being cult, preventing us from lynching him and allowing the game to drag out another seven months or so after that. It ended in a draw after he won but fessed up about the mod's horrible timing.

Ha ha ha ha ha. There should be a (good-natured) thread of these somewhere. I know I messed up some rather complicated nightchoice interactions once (Blind Mafia), and felt pretty horrible about it.

^that

im not itimidated by old players (tbh i have been playing for sevral years myself).

im usally the scum mastermind planner, so if we have daychat or 1/2 nights for me to live, i can give my scum team enough plans to win most of the time.

im usally a good idea to try to keep for one day and then after that discard if needed

I read this entire game, and now I can explain why I chose to do what I did D1.

LmL's stupid moves:

1) I didn't alter my play enough to begin with (Hi, StD!) and playing with people who have 5-10 games with me? Quite a mistake. I knew that I was signing StD's death warrant midway through the day.
2) I couldn't make a strong enough case on anyone who WASN'T SCUM day 1. You guys were so freaking dead on D1, I thought the game would be over, and fast. I kept on manufacturing bullshit, and, rightfully, called out on it.

Midway through the day we were forced with a choice.. lynch me, or lynch bookitty. Since I knew people would catch StD because of my tunneling, we were going to push Boo's lynch... but the more I opened my trap, the more Boo became very... well... forgotten about? Towards the end, my goal was not to sir any pot. Or anything. My goal was simply to make you forget about why ANY of you suspected Boo to begin with. D1, you guys successfully pegged 3 scum.

Way to go scum. Thanks for honoring my dying wish to kill Shanba. I smelled power role all over.

I hate to disappoint LML but I forgot I had a power role... to the extent that I didnt sent a night action in night 1 :(

I'm just a lurky player, particularly on day 1s.

See? That's crazy. You were lurky, insightful and actively listening. If you weren't scum, you were a power role, and I knew you werent scum.
