I'm back from the afterlife. Yoda sends hugs.
Fritz, Mace Windu gave me a wallet to give you--says BAD MOTHER****** on it.
All, I should be alive a few days assuming our town doctor has any common sense. You have no reason to trust me when I say this, but I have not switched alignment upon resurrection.

Oh, also, without further ado, I believe this town has spoken:
dayvig: Gorrad
Better say your goodbyes before Stoofer posts--as I learned when I died, you're not allowed to even say "BAH!" after you're dead.
Everyone else please weigh in ASAP before Gorrad's alignment is known:

The fake vig of Gorrad was to move the day along. He had a nice huge wagon and the #2 target wasn't going to get lynched over Gorrad. I was hoping Gorrad was scum and would give a Bah Go Ninjas post or some such, or that an incompetent scumpartner would panic in the face of the vig and say that they mistrusted Gorrad all along. I also wanted to see who was reticent about running up Thesp next.
Oh well, at least we've gotten some reactions. I actually don't get to vig this afternoon. I'll read the thread carefully this afternoon to find the bastards who killed me.dialing in mildly protown reads since 2006-

Why not? What would scum stand to lose by doing so? Certainly their scumpartners wouldn't be endangered by it, and they'd have a shot at outing a member of the opposite scumgroup... unless there IS no opposite scumgroup.Thesp wrote:

Choose your words more carefully... this sentence implies that you know they're real pro-town masons but the town won't know that until one of them dies. OR it implies that you're scumpartners with them.Twomz wrote:And y'all aren't 'confirmed' innocents until one of you gets killed.

If this comes across as pedantic, I apologize, but I think Gorrad needs to learn these things before he sets foot in another mafia game:
The main reason not to fake an action is so you don't make people think you're scummy when you're actually town. But I'm fairly close to confirmed town, so that's not much of a risk here.Gorrad wrote:a) faking a dayvig you do not have (I find faked roles scummy/bad play no matter the context)
There are several reactions you could get from faking an action that would be beneficial to town.
* You could get scum to panic and make a statement they otherwise wouldn't. Town has no reason to panic--they're not lying about their beliefs and alignment.
* You could get a shoddy scumbag to make a hasty fakeclaim that would pin them in a corner later.
* You could get shoddy town to claim their role, thus getting them out of the way and allowing real scum to be pursued that day.
In my case, I absolutely accomplished one of those three, and the rest of us don't know which one it was yet. Except, in the case that there's only one scumteam...
* The hasty claim made by the townie might result in scum making hasty statements about the truthfulness of the claim.
For example, if someone is too ready to assume your township after that claim, they very well could be scum who actually DOES know you're a mason. If someone's too skeptical of your claim, they could very well be your scumpartner trying to look good by being the first to "realize" you're full of shit.
So yeah, I think your blanket assertion that all faked actions are terrible for town is utterly wrong. In a game called Mormon Missionary Mafia, at a point in the game where a lie could no longer hurt me as town, I lied and told everyone I had a self-protect that I'd be using that night. I didn't actually have a self-protect, but the lie allowed me to survive the night, perform my real night action, and help win us the game.
In the future, you may want to make a distinction between "play you don't understand" and "stupid play". For example, your outing of your mason partner was stupid play. (Unless you're scum.) My faking a dayvig may very well have saved your ass today, and almost certainly will allow us more time to find an alternative lynch if you are town, which is "clever play you don't understand".
You don't seem to get this subtlety. YOU may know you're certainly town, but it's very likely that no one else in the game besides you and your partner knows that. I have absolutely no way of telling for certain whether:Gorrad wrote:and then b) denying the fact that I'm certainly town, as seen in the post above.
A) You and your partner are masons guaranteed innocent to each other.
or
B) You and your scumpartner agreed to a fakeclaim of masons night 1 right before YOU MURDERED ME IN COLD BLOOD!

It appeared Thok had been flavor-caught by scum, as scum. It appeared Erg0 had been "nightkilled" and the kill had failed, and thus the goblins knew he was scum.
The sensible play was to let the goblin killing group kill Erg0 AGAIN (since the 2nd time the kill actually works) and I would take the OTHER scum (Thok) out since scum couldn't one-shot him. Unfortunately, the remaining goblin is not sensible.
Looks like the ninjas hit Kscope two nights in a row? I imagine the dirty hookhands were on his wagon hoping to ring him up yesterday, but there's no guarantee of that.
Can someone on the ninja team please tell me whether they think Erg0 is a pirate?dialing in mildly protown reads since 2006-

I'm voting Thesp and sincerely want him dead unless he makes a miracle post. My assessment of you is independent of that. Basically, you're trying to impugn my opinion because it's shared by scum, which would be scummy of you in a 2-way, let alone a 3-way game.Skruffs wrote:Now both of you are repeating Thesp's sentiments; his argument has basically been one of repetition.

I think Thesp's role is an ideal scum role in this particular game with 3 killing groups:
* It disincents him from "vigging" except in emergencies, because he'll lose his cover. A town vig would be less concerned about the tradeoff.
* It incents him heavily to kill rival scum and punishes him heavily for killing town, so it is not a role biased against town.
* It makes up for the difficulty imposed by scumgroups having to tag TWICE at night to kill.
* It provides him with a decent, but not overpowering, safeclaim.
I don't like that his flavor is "nearly ninja". Particularly considering he knows his kills (day or night) will all be carried out with "samurai/ninja flavor".
I don't like the fact that he's been so zeroed in on Skruffs as a dayvig... it seems there's more meat to that accusation, as if his scumpartner has a tracking role...
His reaction to my fake dayvig was understated, then overstated, as if he almost forgot what his safeclaim was, then overreacted to get his "reaction" on the books asap.
I've thought Thesp was a ninja for some time now, and now that his claimed flavor fits, I'm thinking the hunch was right. He's one of the few people I could see targeting me N1, his play re: kscope fits scum whose NK failed N2, he was TOO unsubtle about counterclaiming my dayvig.
As Thesp would say, I don't think Thesp should be allowed anywhere near endgame. I think he should be run up every day and forced to vig before the lynch occurs. He has plenty of people he finds scummy, and likely for VERY good reasons. I say we put him to the test now, and every day.
Thesp, Twomz, cicero, Claus, VERY quick to get on the kscope wagon. Remember, at least two ninjas knew scope was scum to start D2. Thesp and Twomz try to act all offhand casual about their votes but there is clearly intent there. Not likely that Fonz or Iammars are ninjas, for similar reasons--they defend and ignore scope, when that's not likely what a ninja would do. TSQ and UltimaAvalon are also suspect in the way they hop on kscope.

Sure. Understated:Thesp wrote:I said I was 1000% sure MBL didn't have a daykill - because his role was "Vig" and mine was "Day Vig". I knew there was an explicit difference between our roles. Can you explain what you see there?)Thesp, Jan 29th, 9am wrote:I don't believe MrBuddyLee for a moment.
I also think,if this is indeed genuine, that this play was not wise.
Two separate posts casting casual aspersions on my fakevig (italicized phrases show feigned uncertainty). In each, you hint at some personal uncertainty about my dayvig and conceal your "role" from the rest of us. You claimThesp, Jan 29th, 9am wrote:Also,it appearsMBL was lying. *sigh*you'rea dayvig, so for some reason you decided at 9am that you'd indicate some measure of uncertainty about the possible dayvig in an effort to conceal yourself. Or because I MIGHT have been a real dayvig...
Then, later that day, Overstated:
So after eight hours to think about it, and after eight posts about Gorrad, vigs, after the mod essentially ignoring my fakevig, and other miscellaneous issues giving you confidence that I had no dayvigging abilities, you decided to make it VERY clear that you're a "dayvig". Eight hours of understating your vigness, followed by a blatant, somewhat readable roleclaim. At least I read it as a possible dayvig counterclaim.I'm a1000% sureMBL's vig was fake.
So why the shift over the course of the day? One theory of mine is that you forgot your fakeclaim was dayvig... for eight hours at least... and/or that you were waiting it out to be sure I didn't have a dayvig ability which would make your fakeclaim obsolete.
But it's also odd that you chose to out yourself at 5pm over something terribly insignificant (a near-confirmed vig faking a dayvig). You didn't seem too concerned about self-preservation there, and seemed more concerned with laying the groundwork for a dayvig claim/fakeclaim.

Thesp has to weigh the fact that "he may get vigged if he doesn't vig" against his desire not to vig today.
I realize that by saying this I may encourage scumThesp to use his "vig" power on me today so he can go out in an ignominious blaze of glory, but there are reasons why that wouldn't be an optimal play for his team regardless.

26 players, 3x2 scum, 1 vig would play out as follows on average:
N0 2.5 dead town
D1 .3 lynch of scum, .7 lynch of town
N1 .5 dead scum, 2 dead town, .3 vigged scum, .7 vigged town
D2 .4 lynch of scum, .6 lynch of town
N2 1 dead scum, 1.5 dead town, .2 vigged scum, .5 vigged town
D3 .6 lynch of scum, .4 lynch of town
N3 1 dead scum, 1.5 dead town, .1 vigged scum, .3 vigged town
D4 .6 lynch of scum, .4 lynch of town
N4 1 dead scum, 1.5 dead town, .1 vigged scum, .2 vigged town
Result: 4.5 dead scum, 12 dead town
leaving: 1.5 scum, 9.5 town
A little unbalanced. There's probably one scumteam of three and two teams of two or some shit like that. Tough to say, but definitely NOT three teams of three.dialing in mildly protown reads since 2006-

Also, you guys REALLY think Iammars is dumb town and not incompetent scum? I had a really hard time vigging Skruffs over him. Read his play and tell me where all the bizarre statements and stuff come from.

Good point, forgot about that rule.Skruffs wrote:Two hit rule?Iammars wrote:I think cicero is probably town, mostly because of the way that he argued against my wagon on Day 1Iammars wrote:Vampires generally represent cults. I think he's a cult-immune townie.
That's all I'm saying now.
Also, in Iammars' big "analysis" post, his biggest batch of comments was on the confirmed vig. Who'd be concerned about a vig enough to waste valuable scumhunting time pestering them? A: scumIammars wrote:
Well, more split than it turned out to be. You guys, so much vig hate.
Let me explain my crappy thinking.
First night nokill, give everyone a chance to play.
Second night kill the doofus who, unprovoked, blatantly hinted at being a doctor. Who does that? A liar, that's who!
Third night believe the scum, thinking they got a cross-kill hit or two.Xtoxm wrote:
I didn't, unfortunately.I find it interesting that eveyrone and their dog targetted MBL on N0.Guardian wrote:anyways, i tried to kill erg0 last night. he is 100% scum.
I also have role-based information that Thok is on an opposing scum faction. well, my buddy does. so he is another good lynch. 100% scum.
Fourth night kill the obvScum Skruffs.
Fifth night kill the guy who used his safeclaim after not knowing whether his role was a pirate or not. I mean seriously, how hard is it to figure out on the internet that Abraham van Helsing is not a pirate? I called shenanigans:
Actually my role was:Iammars wrote:
And how does this post say that I can't find it in Wikipedia?Iammars wrote:Also, it's not my fault I never heard about my character before, and Wikipedia sure isn't helping me.
Wikipedia just isn't helping me determine whether or not my character is a pirate.
My role is either one of two things: Pirate or not pirate and not ninja. I'm leaning heavily towards the second, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to PM stoofer about it.
Remember when I mentioned that I expected that there were people who weren't pirates or ninjas? That's because my role deals with vampires too. I'm a Vampire Finder (Abraham Van Helsing)
I thought it meant I won by vigging retards but in retrospect, the actual meaning is obvious. You are Luke Skywalker. You are a Retard Vig.dialing in mildly protown reads since 2006-

This is why Iammars had to die, in my opinion. It looked like he confused his safeclaim (a null protector/hunter) with his actual role, then faked confusion.cicero wrote:I had a safe claim of Don Quixote, Giant Hunter, that I really wanted to use. I even breadcrumbed it. Was considering on saying I was paranoid.dialing in mildly protown reads since 2006
