I am announcing a very minor change to the game mechanics.

Formerly:

I am making this change for the sake of expedience, especially in times when I may not be immediately available. To be clear: once the passing phase begins, the thread will remain open, but

" to the target of one's choice when it is that poster's turn to pass.

This change was made of my own independent volition and is independent of any and all in-game events. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

i do think that both RC and Oversoul have completely valid points such that i don't think i could call either one of them outright "wrong" and i think there might be some aspect of miscommunication over what the contention even is

i think a large part of why oversoul is frustrated is because (according to him, and i have no reason to doubt this) his meta is clear such that, on some objective level, he was playing his towngame this game. there are certainly points that could be made against this (if you think self-meta or any meta is trash, SS also outplayed his meta this game, so on), but i think what frustrates oversoul a lot is that he feels this wasn't even taken into account when decisions were made, and it could have changed things if it were.

i'm certain that some people might think i have some bias when it comes to RC, but i think that objectively he played D1 very well and was a major part in the early scum deaths. i think the votecount where his baton-wagon was all town and the entire scumteam was elsewhere along with discussion in the mafia thread about how shoshin and SS could live longer with him not as the baton holder point to this clearly. again, there are other arguments that can be made here (play after day 1, whether or not early scum lynches are even good), but they're sort of tangent to the point i think RC is getting at.

i imagine that this sort of outside commentary might be kind of annoying, but i hope that it's at least somewhat valuable in seeing where people are coming from, because i personally really do feel like almost nobody in this game could be said to be "in the wrong" (whatever that even means to you). i suppose as the mod i have a unique position when it comes to insight on people's thought processes, and in almost all cases i can completely trace someone's line of reasoning as to why they are completely justified.

i don't think it was a trust tell, but it was plainly an outside influence. too lazy to quote but basically she said that if she had gotten a scum role PM she would've just lied to me and said that she couldn't play anymore, it had been too much time between her signing up and the game starting. she's going to africa for two years with no internet access at the end of this year so she said she felt no qualms about both doing that and admitting it

From what I can tell I guess the site is really moving in an anti-outside influence direction and under that lens it's definitely unethical

Maybe it shows the influence Ellibereth had on me but I don't think it's possible in an online game to completely remove outside influence

And given that, I actually don't personally think she did anything wrong

i think "shoshin deserves a ban for her play this game", "shoshin's play this game was angleshooting that crossed some kind of line" and "shoshin's play this game was IRL scummy" are all three different discussions that are generally being had as the same discussion

i will say that i think the third statement is definitely true

i largely agree with kagami's analysis regarding the setup, although i'd add that i was completely alright running a scumsided game and i think i was proven justified in doing so. despite the outcome, the game

did

come down to (from a spectator's point of view) a very close 3 person lylo, with the scumteam halved in the very first elimination.
